Chainsaw technology is constantly improving. My 362 CMQ with a 20" bar was the first one delivered in the North Eastern US and that was 6 years ago. I remember how many people were afraid to buy one because of the electronics. It only has 200 cords of firewood and a few hard days of ripping on it. So far it has been great, it makes sense that Stihl now has something better. Great video and your honesty is appreciated!
Thank you! I've been trying to make an informed decision. I had my heart in the 362 non mtronic... Old dogs die hard... I am now seeing the mtronic is nothing to fear, runs better, less fuel consumption. People like you are proving to me the 400 is a no brainer. My better half is a park ranger and has tons of experience and training including the s-212 wildfire sawyer training. She's strong, yet both of us are aging and have the normal physical issues associated with being 50 years old having performed manual labor our while lives... So power to weight and smoothness are critical. Keep up the good hard work! Thank you!
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
Even though the saw is supposedly made to start revving at high rpms while still cold you should never run high rpms until the saw has warmed up. The reason for this is the metal parts inside while cold has a little bit of slop or tolerance (which at high rpm will create piston slap that will put scratches on the piston and cylinder). Once the engine has warmed up the tolerance or slop will go away due to the metal heating up and expanding.
I was told ten years ago when I bought my ms441cm that I shouldn't get it because itd be nothing but trouble. I've never regretted getting that saw as it's been nothing short of amazing. I live in rural West Virginia in the mountains and winter or mid summer,3500 feet up or down in the valley this saw starts and runs fantastically. I also use it with my Alaskan mill on our native white and red oak. Stihl is an expensive line of tools, but worth it in my book. These saws respond very well to opening their mufflers up too. I did mine to help dissipate heat when I was milling. Thanks for posting,I cant wait to see these here in the USA.
Finally got ti buy an ms400c to replace my aging 441. Same power, but slot better weight and balance. At a glance it looks much easier to work on too. I'd ran a 28" bar on the 441,but chose a 25 for the 400. Like I said I'm a firewood guy,not a logger or arborist. Look forward to updates from you, cheers
I've been running saws for 48 years now and one of my pet peeves is how saw manufactures show a motor head weight only. Good job on weighing the saw "ready to go. That's what really matters to users. As soon as I saw 66cc, my thoughts were to the weight of that saw. Interesting about being in there with the 362 (which I have). I like your "3 saw 'lineup" . Good video.
I have been wondering about the 400 for a long time but when I looked at your review i decided to get one 😊i Recieved it yesterday and just barely had the chance to try it out a little bit but I'm impressed with the power it possess and i think it's relatively light and easy to handle despite the size of it 😊 thanks bunches for a great review 😊
Loved my 362 cm was always dependable and very consistent. Finally when it started acting up I tried that 400 and now own it. Almost takes the place of my 046. As a freelance climber I travel with two saws: 201 and 400.
Love your channel! My MS 400 C finally came last Friday. The dealer put a 25" bar on this beast and what a machine. Keep posting! So much to learn! God Bless!
Excellent review, as always! A lot of us are waiting with great anticipation for the 400 to come to the states. Right now, there is such a scarcity of the professional Stihl saws in many areas. I have been waiting for a 261 now for over 4 months! I was beyond lucky to get a 500i last year, and I absolutely love it! Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing! 👍💪
I missed out on the 500 last year when I really needed a bigger saw, so I got the 661 instead. I was in my local dealer recently on a rainy day and they happened to have one in stock. What an amazing score! I run an 18 on mine and it's a monster!!
It looks fantastic, but I'm used to using the 500i and I have to say that I haven't found anything better to work whole days in the woods. The big challenge in my opinion will be to compare the 400 with the 500i! Keep it up you are fantastic! Thank you
It would be great to see you “in the zone” working trees with your saws a bit more. Seeing your introduction to your videos I can only imagine. Novel angles, good technique, great saws and excellent editing...Take care
Thanks for the great review! I don't think I would need the MS400 for what I do, but it sure looks like a superb chainsaw. I have a Stihl MS260 Pro saw, that I've had since 2009, & it's a great saw. BTW, you're very sweet!
Not the first comment but nearly! I love watching your videos. Knowledgeable and you have the most adorable accent. Pet cats coming and going is also a nice touch. A fellow 261 owner from Canada.
Got a chance to use my 400 for the first time this weekend. Great saw! 20" bar and it chews through everything like butter. Your video helped me decide which Stihl to go with. Thanks!
I am ready for a new chainsaw, but my 10yo ms290 is still going strong. It just won't die. 10 years, over 10 cords of firewood per year, the compression is still near 150psi. Starts easy, idles great, and gobbles up wood with a vengeance.
Great video review and the sound levels were fine. I'm working on getting my own solo tree service biz started soon. I'm a spry 66 year old and got my first saddle this year and have been climbing DRT and SRT. My saws are a MS290 Farm Boss that's 15 years old, but still cuts like a Boss. My climber is a Echo CS2511T. I'm looking to add a bigger saw to my herd but haven't decided on which one yet. Leaning towards the MS462. I doubt I'll take on any huge tree jobs. Keep smiling.
Trade the farm boss and some extra cash for a 500i. It's similar in weight but with more power than 462. The farm boss is a respectable saw but not made for commercial use. The 462 is a solid commercial saw if you can't afford the 500i, but I'd try the 500i. You'll see that it's light enough for everyday cutting/ground work and strong enough to pull a 36" bar's chain in dense hardwood, especially if you use a semi-skip tooth or full skip tooth at that length. Once you see what that saw can do, you'll almost never need a 90cc or 120cc saw.
Love the video, definitely made it easier to make a choice for a medium size saw. Currently I have MS 171 and that little saw is awesome. For my next medium saw I was looking between MS462 and MS500i but the weight is a big factor for me and they are more larger range. Thanks to video I am going for MS 400 C-M with 20” bar, in Australia it’s coming out in Aug/Sep this year, can’t wait.
Great video Felixia. Nice looking saw .Believe it will be a good in between size. Take care and have a blessed week and see you on your next video. Still love the bloopers.
Hi there from Canada! That's a good-looking saw, Hope we can get it in Canada soon. Still a shortage of saws here to buy. Stihl if your listening, BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE FUEL CAPS. A great review as always. Take care
Great review. Made my choice this spring and decided on the 462. Great saw and do not regret it. Heard a lot of good about this 400, but thought it was too close in power output to my 261. Feel like I got the best of all worlds now.
Got tired of waiting for the MS400 in the states. Release date keeps getting pushed back. So, I bought the MS462c and love it. Thanks for the review. I'm sure it will be a great saw.
@@Femalelumberjack I'm really happy with the 462. I think that it compliments my 261 really good. 50cc to 72cc. If I ever need bigger the 661 at 90cc would be the next step. Don't see that happening. Thanks again.
Huge fan of your channel I've ran a MS 250 for many many years and with in the last 2 months I came a great deal on the 500i for the cutting I do the 2 saws I have is a great combo
Hi there your UA-cam video clip on the MS 400 was very very good thank you very much for doing that gives me more insight about the chainsaw regards Andrew
Thanks for another great review. The 400 is just now in just a few states in the US. It looks like a great saw. I like that you keep the bloopers in lol.
I'd like to see a comparison between the 400 and the 462. The ms 462 to is my favorite that's the one I'd put my money on but I'm curious and in the market for a new saw
I have both. The 400 is lighter and obviously lacks the power of the 462. However, it is a monster. I use it when I know I won't need the full power of the 462. It's great up the tree as well being that it's lighter and not so cumbersome.
I was thinking about replacing my 260 pro with a 362. I am glad you did this video, now I am going to try to get a 400. Then I would have a 241, 400, and 660.
Fellow lumberjill here! Went to the shop to buy a new medium ground saw but I guess I have a new medium in tree saw. The boys won’t get to run this one. 😬😬
I love your videos, love stihl, love the way u compare saws. I love the way you talk about and have love for chainsaws like me. I thought about getting the 362 but like you said the 400 is bye far the better saw. like my 261 the 400 is just a wonderful pro saw. I've been waiting for a 400 to come into my stihl dealer n I'm going to get it with a 25 inch light bar. Vroom zoom keep on cutting...
Thanks so much for all the videos! As an intermediate rock climber I’ve been very curious about tree climbing gear (I.e. what’s different about it, what’s the same, what extra gear is required for tree climbing, etc). It would be really cool to see some videos on that.
I was wanting a 500i but one was never available locally. I ended up with a 400. Waiting to begin using it when I start cutting firewood this fall. I have a 661 and an 046. Considering selling the 046 since it is very similar to the 400. Small saws are a Husqvarna 346xp and 550xp. I'm looking forward to giving the 400 a try.
Thinking of buying a new " bigger " ( bigger for a home owner, non professional ). This was a great video in making up my mind. Ms261, great saw. But was thinking of a bit bigger. And after watching this, not going for the Ms362. But rather the Ms400 instead. Thanks
I ordered a 400 from Europe about 3 months to compare to my 362. It feels like a 362 with a bigger engine. It’s a nice saw, but it doesn’t oil a 25 inch bar that I like to run on it very good. Seems like it’d be best for 18-20 inch bars. I could see the 400 working great if you don’t wanna spend the money on a 462. I personally prefer my 462 over both of these saws, same weight and way more power, also slings oil off a 32” after I put a high output oiler and big falling spikes on it.
@@brettslawnandtreeservice Thanks for info. I had really wanted to try the 400, but got impatient and bought the 462. I'm really happy with my decision. Running a 20 inch bar now and waiting for my 25 light bar from the dealer. No looking back.
Great video as always. I have the 261. Just got the 661. Was thinking about the 462 but now I am not sure. Might save the money and see about the 400 whenever we Canadians see it. I like the idea of small, medium and large. Keep doing your thing, we appreciate it
After having sm med lg saws for yrs.. I simplified with single 461.. Job times shorter all around.. 461 does tasks with authority close to 661 yet much lighter.. Smaller saws my kids or wife use.. Im waiting till kinks outta mtronic. 400 is stihls first pro saw in 60cc to 70cc range in far too long.. If i didnt have to mill sometimes 400 could be my one saw.. God be with you
Very Nice Review there Sweet Lady, ‼‼‼ Lots of Power in this Bad Boy at 66cc. I take it that this Saw will Work Well with a Chain Saw Mill ⁉⁉⁉ Looking Forward on Your Review on the MS661which is Definitely Out of My Price Range and Expertise but Still Love to here What the Professionals Think about the Saw. Awesome as Always, Stay Safe and Blessed🙏🏾, Much Peace☮ and Love💖 ❣❣❣ Hey to Rest of Family and Timber 💜😜‼‼‼
Imagine the 400 doesn't exist. The 362 is still good. Add a 500i they kick butt on everything else anyways. I have 400, 500 The 500 can saw like as 661 but lighter maybe not as much torque but high speed.
@@Femalelumberjack It’s the perfect 2 saw plan for the Stihl users. They’re both kick ass saws. I’ve starting switching to Husqvarna though, feels like they’ve got more torque and better oilers, in other words better for the US users who run longer bars. The old Stihl saws (044, 046, 066, 088, etc.) were like this, but it seems the modern saws are more focused on the users in Europe, as they’re better balanced with shorter bars and like to rev up more than the Husqvarna saws.
Love your videos; very down-to-earth, and fun to watch. Always enjoyable to watch a pro at work, with a bit of badass mixed in there. Might you be able to do a vid on saw selection? What makes you consider one saw over another? How do you choose between power and lightness? For someone who is only going to own maybe 2 saws, would you push a lighter saw harder with a longer bar, or a more powerful but heavier saw with a small selection of bars? Thanks in advance Felixia! You rock!
Excellent video again. When you do the 400-500 comparison could you run them both with a 25 inch bar? I almost bought a 362 and went with the 462 instead. My nxt will be the 661 and I think if the 400 is as awesome as everyone is saying the your statement of the 3 saws to have would be spot on.
@@Femalelumberjack In the U.S the Stihl site has a 25 inch max bar length on the 362. I've only seen a metric spec sheet on the 400 and haven't tried converting them. Thanks for all the great information and video content you put out.
I had a 391 and went to the 400 it seems twice as fast as the 391 I know the 391 wasn't a pro line. But it wasn't ever impressive. I have a 180 that has been amazing but I upgraded to the 261 due to less vibration on my hands. I like her videos. and I may end up getting a 661 someday.. I am grabbing an electric Sthil tomorrow for limb trimming. I wonder what she thinks of the Electric Sthil. Keep up the good work Hedi.
The resellers in my country claim that all the new Stihl-models requires a kind of "environmentally friendly" 2-stroke gasoline which cost a lot more than regular unleaded with 2-stroke oil. That is a significant added cost for someone who burn in excess of 1000l of chainsaw-gasoline a year. For me the annual added cost of running a saw like this one would be approaching the amount of a months income.
Love the t-shirt, you once accused me of being a freak(was using a different name then) you should consider moving to the U.S. Big opportunities for your career. Keep up the great work your outstanding milady!

Hi, greatly enjoy your videos, but could do with some advice. Stihl MS400c manual says to tighten head base screws after about 10-20 hours. My 400c will reach that point in the next couple of months. Do you do that? If so could you take a video of the process? Thanks☺
Hi in your choice of the three best chains saws to give you every thing which by the way was very helpful and I do agree that it needs to make sense the difference between them just wondering if you see a place to have the 500i
Gotta try the 241c as well. Really nice to run for small light work. I think if they could slim it down in weight like they have done with the 462 and 400 there would be a more noticeable difference in weight compared to the 261 then there is currently and it would be more popular.
I'm representing for them gangsters all across the world (STIHL) Hitting them corners in them low-lows, girl STIHL taking my time to perfect the beat And I STIHL got love for the streets, it’s the HSE(Health and safety Executive)
So I have decided to pick up another saw. I've currently have a Husqvarna 353e which I have had for many years and I love, but I want something bigger in the 60 to 70 cc class. I'm torn between the 400 and 462. I'm not a pro and just want to cut some bigger wood as well as mill some wood from time to time. If you have any idea on which of those two might be a better choice, I'd appreciate your thoughts. It seems the 462 is the way to go, but is about another $450 dollars. Is it worth the extra cost?
@@Femalelumberjack Thank you for your input. I just purchased the 462 a couple of days ago. Yet it's nice to have some sort of confirmation from a professional like yourself that I made the right choice. Take care. I love your channel. You are very informative as well as entertaining.

I have both. The 400 is lighter and obviously lacks the power of the 462. However, it is a monster. I use it when I know I won't need the full power of the 462.
It's great up the tree as well being that it's lighter and not so cumbersome.
Love the dual fuel/bar oil tank.great video female lumberjack 👍👊💚🌳
It’s great!
@@Femalelumberjack Hvem gjøre det ? LOL
Gr8 review...knew i had to have one when you mentioned the perfect combo of 261, 400 and 661....the 400 is on my list, now to find one in Australia...
Thank you 😊
You willrun 400 much more than You anticipate. Think 261 as a smaller stuff saw.
Thanks for a good review! im getting a new saw for my small forest farm soon and the 400 looks great :)
You’re welcome.
The 400 would be a good choice
I was thinking about replacing my 260 pro with a 362. I am glad you did this video, now I am going to try to get a 400. Then I would have a 241, 400, and 660.
Glad my video was helpful

Hey girl thank you for the comparison. Might be worth the wait for the bigger saw.
You’re welcome
Just got mine a few weeks ago and absolutely love it!
Why did the trees couldn't grow because no soil or no seed
One of the baddest videos out I really like this one
Thank you for weight comparisons and other info. I have a 261 cm now and will buy another saw that can accomodate a longer bar.
Didn't think how much fun it is chopping woods with a good chainsaw!
I quite agree with your comment on having the 261 400 and 661 kind of what i was thinking for myself having a older ms260 and a 288xp
Great video. Would be nice to see it compared to the 462. The Stihl site indicates 5,8kg with 4kw for the 400 compared to 4,4kw with 6kg for the 462.
My dad has the 261 c and I bought the 400c. Both are great saws!!
They’re very nice saws
Love your Channel and guilty of treeson.
Kinda odd to do this type of work all day , then watch others do it on UA-cam but here I am lol
I’m looking forward to the new MS881
A beast of a saw 👌
@@Femalelumberjack yes!! And I want one badly!
Great review 👍👍👍 Look forward to them becoming available in my area.
Thank you. Let’s hope they get there soon
Fellow lumberjill here! Went to the shop to buy a new medium ground saw but I guess I have a new medium in tree saw. The boys won’t get to run this one. 😬😬
❤️ , not just for the saw...
Great video!
Thank's for sharing your thoughts on these two saws!
I hear you and I will definitely do some videos about climbing gear 👌
*_Girl, what the fuck is wrong with your sound, all the time I have to adjust it !!!!!!!!!!!!! We can clearly see you are a straight amateur_*
Beautiful!
Excellent video, many thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍
You’re welcome
I was wanting a 500i but one was never available locally. I ended up with a 400. Waiting to begin using it when I start cutting firewood this fall. I have a 661 and an 046. Considering selling the 046 since it is very similar to the 400. Small saws are a Husqvarna 346xp and 550xp. I'm looking forward to giving the 400 a try.
Those Euros sure are highly visible when they're working. Gotta make sure aircraft can see you
Dang Flex, didn't even realize you were on here too. Great job on the review!
Thinking of buying a new " bigger " ( bigger for a home owner, non professional ). This was a great video in making up my mind.
Ms261, great saw. But was thinking of a bit bigger.
And after watching this, not going for the Ms362. But rather the Ms400 instead.
Thanks
Hi performance thanks to the magnesium piston and 14500 rpm !
👌
I ordered a 400 from Europe about 3 months to compare to my 362. It feels like a 362 with a bigger engine. It’s a nice saw, but it doesn’t oil a 25 inch bar that I like to run on it very good. Seems like it’d be best for 18-20 inch bars. I could see the 400 working great if you don’t wanna spend the money on a 462. I personally prefer my 462 over both of these saws, same weight and way more power, also slings oil off a 32” after I put a high output oiler and big falling spikes on it.
I went with the 462 and love it.
@@larasea741 They’re some great saws. Especially after port work.
@@brettslawnandtreeservice Thanks for info. I had really wanted to try the 400, but got impatient and bought the 462. I'm really happy with my decision. Running a 20 inch bar now and waiting for my 25 light bar from the dealer. No looking back.
@@larasea741 If your running that bar length then stock will do great. I’d get it ported if you want to run 28 and above
I would use a 661 for milling yes.
So glad you liked the video, thank you
661 rocks. short sword, long sword, does not matter, you wont regret it!
4 months ago I bought my 362, it's a pity I didn't wait for 400 😟😋
Sell and buy 😉
I'll buy it if your in the states haha
Imagine the 400 doesn't exist. The 362 is still good. Add a 500i they kick butt on everything else anyways. I have 400, 500 The 500 can saw like as 661 but lighter maybe not as much torque but high speed.
I have the 261 and a ported 462. They pretty much cover all my tree cutting needs. The 400 looks like a winner though.
I would be able to do most of my work with a 261 and a 500i
@@Femalelumberjack It’s the perfect 2 saw plan for the Stihl users.
What was the little jingle at the end?? It's nice to see happy folks!
Fantastic video we have 261 and 661 have to try a 400 👍
Would be perfect for you
Love your videos; very down-to-earth, and fun to watch. You rock!
It’s a great idea and actually something I was planning to do just a little bit different 😊
I’ll have to double check the recommended bar size for the 400.
Glad you like the video
@@Femalelumberjack In the U.S the Stihl site has a 25 inch max bar length on the 362. I've only seen a metric spec sheet on the 400 and haven't tried converting them.
Thanks for all the great information and video content you put out.
Very cool review! Thanks and keep up the great content, cheers!

I doubt it but you never know

A 562xp versus a 400c would be an interesting comparison video.
You are obviously a troll or not so bright your choice.
Great chainsaw review Felixia!
Thank you
Nice to meet you.
The magnesium pistons are great. It's amazing that 66.8cc can produce 4kw.
It is a pity that they are not sold in Japan.

Sorry to hear about SA. RIP
What about Echo and Shindaiwa ? Excellent Japanese saws.

Improvements you got a new canister for fuel well done...
Got tired of the old one where I had to pour out the oil and the lid was missing 😆
Hello, new friend here from Philippines. Awesome tutorial.
I’m very happy living in Denmark 😊

Hi, greatly enjoy your videos, but could do with some advice. Stihl MS400c manual says to tighten head base screws after about 10-20 hours. My 400c will reach that point in the next couple of months. Do you do that? If so could you take a video of the process? Thanks☺
I have ms211, and a Ms261cm. I wish I knew the ms400 was coming out. Stihl needs to bring back the ms241cm
The 241 is still available in Europe
@@Femalelumberjack The 241 is the finest small saw ever made.
@@TheToolnut apart from the husky 346xp that is 🤗
I think all I have seen about your work on this channel, is enough to say that you dont need a saw that perchases more power than the 500i.

Hey.... what’s wrong with freaks?
@@terrykrall ... nothing. I was just referencing her t-shirt.
Hi in your choice of the three best chains saws to give you every thing which by the way was very helpful and I do agree that it needs to make sense the difference between them just wondering if you see a place to have the 500i
Personally I would pick 261, 500i and 661
Gotta try the 241c as well. Really nice to run for small light work. I think if they could slim it down in weight like they have done with the 462 and 400 there would be a more noticeable difference in weight compared to the 261 then there is currently and it would be more popular.
I'm representing for them gangsters all across the world
(STIHL) Hitting them corners in them low-lows, girl
STIHL taking my time to perfect the beat
And I STIHL got love for the streets, it’s the HSE(Health and safety Executive)
So I have decided to pick up another saw. I've currently have a Husqvarna 353e which I have had for many years and I love, but I want something bigger in the 60 to 70 cc class. I'm torn between the 400 and 462. I'm not a pro and just want to cut some bigger wood as well as mill some wood from time to time. If you have any idea on which of those two might be a better choice, I'd appreciate your thoughts. It seems the 462 is the way to go, but is about another $450 dollars. Is it worth the extra cost?
Hi,
If you want to do some milling as well I would definitely go with the 462!
It’s a great saw - very nice power!
@@Femalelumberjack Thank you for your input. I just purchased the 462 a couple of days ago. Yet it's nice to have some sort of confirmation from a professional like yourself that I made the right choice. Take care. I love your channel. You are very informative as well as entertaining.

Yer get one tomorro 20 inche think it can pull that ok here in oz. Looks good great vid cheers
Felixia( is one of your parents Brazilian/Portuguese?) you are a strong woman. I won't be able to use any saw above 6kg weight and you use over 8kg! 400 cm is $1849 AUD!
