- The holidays have quickly approached, but I got the dining room decorated for Thanksgiving, including a lightly decorated Thanksgiving tree with foraged items from the garden. I also decided to paint a nutcracker to match the decor of our house before I left for Maine with my husband.

I have become infatuated with Nutcrackers, and I am going to look for some at our local thrift stores so I can start revamping them. Love how you changed the color scheme of the Nutcracker.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to put together a coffee table book all about Sugarwood’s makeover and have it in stores in time for Christmas next year? Instead of the boxes, I mean. You have all the pictures/videos. As you finish the rooms and gardens, show before and after. It would sell. You are so skilled at videography and magazine layout. Why not?

My late husband and I took a fall trip to New England a few years ago. We got to visit Bangor (he was a big Stephen King fan) and Cadillac Mountain. It was so beautiful and the lobster rolls were out of this world! My little historic town here in Georgia has a street festival once a month. People get so excited about the lobster food truck that the line is a block long, even though it costs $22.00 (plus an additional $7.00 for “extra meat”) for one lobster roll! Linda, repainting nutcrackers is genius!
I'm going to buy up all the unloved nutcrackers I find thrifting, for my grandkids to customize to their liking. They're boys who aren't inclined to be crafty, but these are soldiers so why wouldn't they enjoy rehabbing them?
I can make a few modifications if they get frustrated or can't stay focused, but in the end they'll have a piece they can be proud to display in their rooms. Excited!

I'm appreciative of the information on oak allergies regarding wines. I used to really enjoy wines, but I could not drink it due to what happens to my sinuses!! We went to dinner with friends last weekend, and I decided to risk it and have a glass of wine... bad idea....I was a sneezing congested mess for the rest of the evening😢. This is an allergy I developed later in my life, I am 56. Wine never bothered me when I was younger! Crazy! Love your channel Linda.

The nutcrackers were beautiful the colors they were. Everything doesn’t have to match everything else. The real beauty is in the differences in the vintage colors and also the pops of color they give to a room. I’m all about old time primitive and traditional looking things.

So happy to see your nutcracker gentlemen. Nice paint job! We have collected a variety of nutcrackers over the years. There are fifty nine, with one more to add this year. We place them in rows on our foyer staircase, (there is a back staircase) and they are adorable. It has been a fun, family tradition for thirty years.

Oh Linda! I love him!! I have quite a nutcracker collection and due to a move, it’s my first year in about 5 yrs to get them all out again! I’m finding new ways of decorating with them. What a fun project your nutcrackers we’re! He looks wonderful in the butler’s pantry! Thank you for the tip on wines. I’m interested to try the oyster bay wine as we live 20 min from OysterBay LI. My son owns a business there so I’m going to share with him as well. Also for those who don’t drink alcohol there is a delicious product called Töst . A family friend from Vermont introduced us to it. It’s wonderful for festive occasions and it’s delicious! It’s made with all natural white tea, white cranberry, elderberry, and ginger. It’s a sparkling wine and I believe they now have a Rośe , though I haven’t tried it. Enjoy Maine !

Loved the idea of painting the nutcracker to match the room or decor! WellI have about 80 nutcrackers, my mother in law started giving them to my husband for his Nov birthday every year , well then my kids as they got older did also , I had to say no no more! So now I just display the ones that match my xmas decor , wishing you & your family a wonderful Thanksgiving 🦃

I agree with Linda! You don’t need to spend a lot to find a good wine these days. I love Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc as well and for a light red with no tannins try Bread and Butter Pinot Noir. No headache with this one.

I'd love to visit Maine someday. Our family in Boston go there often and they love it. One question Linda: Did you put gravel and dirt in the green ceramic container on the table? I have a beautiful vintage Villeroy and Boch container very similar to yours but I'm not sure how to do it. It doesn't have drainage holes. Hope you and Ben enjoyed your trip!
Hi, The plant is in the pot it came in, and I have it setting on a dish inside of the green bowl so that I can take it out easily.
