Imo Wemby is the best 2-way player in the NBA. He's not the best player. However, he is learning constantly, and I like the approach SA is taking. Stretch the floor and stay healthier while building muscle. In 2-3 years, he could very well be averaging 30/13/5/4 blocks. There is no rush to force him to post up and get banged up. Or injured driving constantly
I dont think that he will average that many blocks. All time great rim protectors usually average stupid amount of blocks in their first 2-3 season but once the evolve their game and the league just dont challenge them anymore, the numbers drop eventhough they are better defenders at that time

He is up in every single statistical category this season, has been the Spurs second most reliable player, was awesome against the Knicks and has been steller on the defensive end all year long. You wouldn't be crazy to say that with how poorly Vassell has started off the season, Sochan has been the Spurs second-best player. I 100% agree I think Sochan has been one of the most underrated players in the league this year. He’s pretty much what Aaron Gordon is for Jokic but for Wemby . He also plays much better defense than Gordon. He’s definitely one of those guys you want around a championship team

I just went on a crazy tangent on Instagram because I kept getting Vic centered content and fans were saying that 3 point shooting is ruining the game. You’re picking one of the worst players you could try to use to sell me on that idea because he’s so dynamic of a player. I get the argument that Vic needs to get his reps up in the paint, he’s shooting 80% at the rim. So it’s not like he needs to work on his inside game, you can want him to play inside but it certainly isn’t going to make or break his skillset that his reps are lower on those shots. He has to shoot at that efficiency inside the arc to justify not just taking 3’s. KD is such a great scorer because he can score anywhere and no one can guard it. We got a guy half a foot taller with all the potential in the world, telling him to get in the paint because he’s 7’5 is silly.
Honestly I think he needs to take more shots, full stop. He's taking enough 3s but if he takes more from the paint and from floater range he could easily average 27

I’m turning 40, Kobe was my GOAT. But truly Wemby is the best player I’ve ever seen. Not perfect by any means but honestly look at what he’s doing at 20.
Yeah, most of the flaws I see are experimentation by the coaching staff and regular growing pains. But when he is playing seriously to win, he is just capable of things that no one else in history has been able to do, and he does them so naturally. People overuse the phrase "cheat code," but Wemby is finally the perfect use for it. Victor addressed the topic not that long ago and explicitly said that the 3pt volume is all about getting as many reps in as possible and that once he gets to a certain consistent percentage (both for him and the coaching staff), the attempts will level off and he'll move onto the next "exercise" to skill build in his game.

A week or two ago, I thought Wemby was already a top 8 player. The argument you laid out makes it clear that he probably IS a top 6 player. I think he has easily been a better player than Brunson and Edwards. I think he is a better scorer and defender than Davis, but I can understand if people think Davis is better than Wemby. Other than those top 5 guys, I think, KD is the only one who I think is comparable to Wemby in terms of impact on team success. On the threes, I think it should be noted that over his past 20 games, Wemby has a 3-point percantage of 40%. He is a very good shooter. As for the game, itself, it was an absolute dogfight with tons of lead changes. Wemby definitely showed that he is a superstar deserving of that label. Sucks that the Spurs couldn't win, but it was great seeing them compete with a team as good as the Knicks.
Luka is out the contention now due to injuries. I think top 5 is up for the grab for wemby. Now if miracle happens where spurs rises up to 6th seed or higher, then he can knock out some of those top 4 (Jokic Giannis SGA Tatum)

Doncic over SGA is contentious. I have only Jokic, SGA and Giannis ahead of Wemby as we speak. A healthy Embiid would also be, but he'll have to re-prove himself before he can rejoin that conversation. Wemby over the past couple of months last year became a top-10 players. shai is better then luka. if you look at that series alexanders teamates failed him, while PJ washington was scoring 20+ points a game. shai was much better then luka in that series, and has better stats then him this year. shai is the 2nd leading scorer in the nba, averages same amount of steals as luka, has more blocks, isnt as ball dominant as luka, and shoots a higher FG% by 5%. shai has the highest plus minus in the entire nba this season, while luka isnt even top 25.

A week or two ago, I thought Wemby was already a top 8 player. The argument you laid out makes it clear that he probably IS a top 6 player. I think he has easily been a better player than Brunson and Edwards. I think he is a better scorer and defender than Davis, but I can understand if people think Davis is better than Wemby. Other than those top 5 guys, I think, KD is the only one who I think is comparable to Wemby in terms of impact on team success.
On the threes, I think it should be noted that over his past 20 games, Wemby has a 3-point percantage of 40%. He is a very good shooter.
As for the game, itself, it was an absolute dogfight with tons of lead changes. Wemby definitely showed that he is a superstar deserving of that label. Sucks that the Spurs couldn't win, but it was great seeing them compete with a team as good as the Knicks.
Luka is out the contention now due to injuries. I think top 5 is up for the grab for wemby.
Now if miracle happens where spurs rises up to 6th seed or higher, then he can knock out some of those top 4 (Jokic Giannis SGA Tatum)

I don’t even know either. Tatum is averaging 28 to wembys 25 but wemby is averaging more rebounds and blocks and averages the same amount of steals but Tatum gets more assists. And wemby is actually shooting better than Tatum

Ideally wemby offensively would be more like jokic is this season. More hook shots but can hit 3s when the defense gives them. He will never be the passer jokic is but his defense makes up for it
Jokic has the body to bang into those hooks. Wemby doesn't but Jokic has a very nice floater game that could be emulated by Wemby
Wemby has the "loooong lay up" around the defenders body even while standing. Something that almost any player can't block.

shai is better then luka. if you look at that series alexanders teamates failed him, while PJ washington was scoring 20+ points a game. shai was much better then luka in that series, and has better stats then him this year. shai is the 2nd leading scorer in the nba, averages same amount of steals as luka, has more blocks, isnt as ball dominant as luka, and shoots a higher FG% by 5%. shai has the highest plus minus in the entire nba this season, while luka isnt even top 25.

There’s a extra level you have to hit in the playoffs when Giannis drops 40 you gotta match that when Jokić drops a triple double you gotta match that players like Wemby SGA Anthony Edwards they’re not top five they’ve never hit that level. Disagree, and I'll raise Jokic as a counterexample. When he won back-to-back MVPs he was arguably THE best player in the league. Even those who favored Giannis or Embiid for MVP in those years instead would still have Jokic as 3rd best, and so, definitely in the top 5. WITHOUT any Finals appearances those first two MVPs.
No. No he is not breaking the nba. The spurs are mid as hell. 1 player isn’t changing that. Not even LeBron could solo squad the league and he tried for nearly a decade. Wemby is an athletic 7’4 big man. All logic and history dictates that he most definitely isn’t gonna have a long and prosperous career. He most likely will deal with serious lower body issues as his career progresses. Wemby is putting up insane counting stats, but there are multiple players with better counting stats today. Luka, Jokic, and Giannis to name a few. Wemby plays on a shitty team, puts up crazy but not unheard of counting stats, and is a serious injury risk for the rest of his career. If anything he’s just like a million other players we’ve seen come and go. Only difference is he’s 7’4 so people think he’s Jesus😑😑😑
