MY GOD!!! This isn't a soundtrack....it is music that comes from a different realm of thought... It is SO POWERFUL...and SO POIGNANT!!!! It is INCREDIBLE!!!!
An incredibly beautiful movie is given its soul through this soundtrack by Thomas Newman. He has captured every nuance of the characters and their emotions, and the immensity and uncertainty of life itself. Love lost and found...and lost again. And the music gives us the reassurance that even if it cannot last, that love was worth finding it and the pain of having it for only a short time.
What an unbelievable mis-carraige of justice that this beautiful and haunting score wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award ------ and that was when they were dividing the category between Drama and Comedy. Shame on you Hollywood voters for not giving the great score its due.
Just jaw-droppingly beautiful. Thomas Newman is one of the few composers who can regularly make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Fittingly enough, the very last chord stays unresolved. A brilliant piece of work!
this soundtrack is a miracle. from 2:16 on i get goosbumps everywhere - right now while typing this - incredible. so emotional and sad, yet still hopefull and mysterious
This is a " Musical Masterpiece " The Melody Captures The Human Emotion and Takes it to places in Our Heart where we Hide The Pain & Regret of Life's Darkest Moments and Cast The Light of Hope that shows the Way to Dreams we Lost and the path to Forgive Ourselves) 4 Hurting the Ones we Loved so we no longer are silenced by Regret !! The Prison we lived in was the one we built ourselves !! Not knowing we had the key all along to set us free from The Silence !!!
Couldn't agree more... my favourite of his works is Revolutionary Road...he can just capture the essence of any movie, any scene, and subtly pull your heart strings so you feel any emotion he wants you to feel. I vainly dream of following his footsteps...
If you never been to Montana, then you are missing something really special. If you want a glimpse of our nation's past, go there. Once you go, you will be changed forever. The vastness is so overwhelming, yet so extraordinary. Nothing is as beautiful as Montana...........
Reminds me of trees and medows at night if you are at home and everything is safe and the grass is silver and the stars are clearly visible and if it summer this rich soft breeze gently plays along with everything and at moments like this you know u are at home that u are safe . amazing
@irarube Agreed. Thomas Newman's strangely overlooked. He's scored some of the biggest movies of the last 20 years (Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty, Road to Perdition) and although he's probably respected amongst fellow composers and musicians, the general public don't know him nearly as well as they do names like Hans Zimmer. To me he's easily in their league. Especially in terms of originality. Still he's just been assigned the task of scoring the new Bond movie! Fingers crossed!
10 years later and both Bond films had great scores, 1917 is one of his best scores and Operation Mincemeat has a great track called Limited Casulties. It’s short but powerful.

''best composer'', don't think there is such a thing. They all have their very own thoughts and messages which they put it their music. Whenever you find yourself a piece that makes so happy/sad(in a good way), that's when you know what ''the very best'' composer to *you is :)
Yes, the first five notes are virtually identical to Copeland's "Ode to the Common Man", then it goes off in a different direction. And the way the horns and strings evoke the wide open spaces....
But, sir, that's the thing. Does someone makes him ''the best'' when everybody knows him/her? It's all about your own taste, and I understand this is your personal preference.
Thomas Newman opens up your soul and gives you reflection.
Mesmerizing artistry

Igen, én is azt érzem hogy ez olyan érzelmi tartományban van, ahol a lélek van többségben, nem a gondolat

I love the part when Robert Redford says "Knowing is the easy part, saying it out loud is the hard part."
Hmmmmmmmmm, that's correct, saying it out loud is the most hardest thing.
This music brings out my deepest feelings and hopes... it's very special and beautiful.
Thomas Newman is such a great composer.
He finds a way to your soul like no other.
And yet, he hasnt one an academy award..
What an unbelievable mis-carraige of justice that this beautiful and haunting score wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award ------ and that was when they were dividing the category between Drama and Comedy.
Shame on you Hollywood voters for not giving the great score its due.
Every year he scores another fantastic movie soundtrack and every year he gets snubbed.
Terrible injustice.
He'll probably lose the next time out to a movie with a rap soundtrack.
Rap fans want their gun toting drug mooching twerk (yuck) shaking "artists" to get awards as well..eye of the beholder
According to me Thomas Newman is the greatest american composer of movie soundtracks.

It reminds me of a desert cloud that drops a rain shower and then evaporates.

Filip Wilkowski good words.
are you alive?
It's the oboe that drives this song right into your gut. So lonely. So plaintive. Wow.
Beautiful piece of music, emotionally filled, tears every time.
Me too, beautifully done.

Big Sky Montana.
Montana will be forever held in my memory as a spectacular sunset that washed the sky in colors that defied earthly names.

Thomas Newman is a genius !
I like the oboe sound ! It goes through deep in my heart.
Simply beautiful.....
When I heard the osts from this movie I KNEW it was Thomas newman. His music is unic.
Couldn't agree more with you sir. Words can't describe how perfect this music is.
I wish Thomas Newman would develop this theme into a full symphony.
Thomas Neuman is amazing. I fell in love with him with this score, and then came Shawshank Redemption and on and on.....

I completely agree with you.

nice music but a little sad
I hear echoes of Aaron Copeland in Thomas Newman's work.
Yes, the first five notes are virtually identical to Copeland's "Ode to the Common Man", then it goes off in a different direction. And the way the horns and strings evoke the wide open spaces....
Esta musica es tan poderosa, pero triste.
What is the title of the song?
Anyone in December 2024?❤
So hunting😭😭😭😭
