    In this interview, Ao Li , who is currently located in China, reveals to us the secrets of the aria "Ves tabor Spit" from the opera "Aleko", his childhood dream to sing the part of Lensky from "Eugene Onegin" and the tipps & tricks of chinese comedy theatre. Ao also encourages everyone to keep on practicing and learning repertoire during the global pandemic 🙂

    BIO Ao Li (Сhina)
    Bass-baritone
    Born in Dezhou, China. Studied at Shangdong Normal University in Jinan City. A graduate of San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Adler Fellowship. As a participant of the Merola Opera Program he appeared as Belcore in L`elisir d`amor.
    Ao Li made his professional opera debut in 2011 at the San Francisco Opera as Le Dancaïre in Bizet`s Carmen. His subsequent performances at the SFO include Petrucci in Lucrezia Borgia, Lorenzo in I Capuleti e I Montecchi, Sciarrone in Tosca, The Indian Gardener/Ben Weatherstaff in the world premiere of Nolan Gasser`s opera The Secret Garden, and both Fiorello and Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
    He has recently appeared as Gremin in Eugene Onegin at the Seoul Arts Centre in Korea and the bass soloist in the Busan Philharmonic’s presentation of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, made his title role debuts in Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Pasquale at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the role debut as Oroveso in Norma at North Carolina Opera (USA).
    First Prize Winner at The Plácido Domingo's Operalia, the World Opera
    Competition, Verona (Italy), 2013;
    Grand Prix Winner at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition of 2014.
    In 2017, he was awarded Second Prize at the VIII Mt. Fuji International Opera Competition of Shizuoka.
    In 2018, he received Third Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium.
