@@kneerap87 That's really funny. "Oh? You don't like my character? Well then, I'm going to make him the coolest character ever, and you won't be able to play as him! Take that!"
Definitely Jak in Jak 2: Renegade. The change from (sort of) innocent, happy guy to angsty, angry and TALKING guy was something I had to get used to, but hey, I would be angry too if I had dark eco pumped into my body for over 2 years...
Yuna stood out most because of how Rob said it. Now I'm cursing myself for not playing X-2 again more recently and realizing it myself. God bless you Rob!
Hello. You’ve caught me enjoying another PS Access Friday feature, and imagining how fun it would be to meet the Access team. Then remembering I have never ever played a final fantasy or metal gear game, and being too nervous/ashamed/embarrassed to talk to Rob. 😬😂😂
I’m so happy to see my all time favorite video game Final Fantasy X2 talked about in such a positive light! Yuna has always been my favorite video game character and I love how happy and free she gets to be in X2 and it makes the game so much fun.
I know its not a change per se, but when they gave Peter Parker a new face for Imsomniacs Spider Man I just couldn't get on board. I get it looked like Tom Holland but I liked the original.
@@Jakkob134 when they remastered the game for ps5 and for a rerelease on ps4 they changed his face, he also has the new face in spiderman miles morales, if you have the original version he still looks the same as far as i know, cant say i like the new face much though to be honest, the original looked like a 21 year old peter parker, the new one looks like a budget tom holland,
From what I remember, and to be fair, I only looked into this briefly when the game first got remastered, but they changed the model to more resemble the voice actor. Maybe it helped the facial animations and expressions? Idk, I'm not even sure if they used face motion capture. But it would make some type of sense, from a design standpoint.
@@Beelzeblob. yeah, thats the reason they gave, that the bones in the face didnt match up correctly, but to be honest, i never believed that, he looked and sounded great in the original, and if they really felt the face didnt match the voice correctly, why not use a different face or different voice to begin with, it would make sense if they changed it halfway through making the original, but releasing the original, and then 2 years alter changing it, that makes less sense to me
I didn't particularly love the original, but at least it did its own thing. The face update was definitely to look like Tom Holland and also had the added effect of making him look like a baby when he's an adult man in a grad research program or whatever. It was especially noticeable in the Miles Morales game when seeing them next to each other and looking almost the same age.
Same here. I was totally invested in finding out who he was as a character. Of course I love how he's progressed to being a katana weilding cyborg badass.
Shaundi from Saints Row 2 went from a laid back pothead with dreads to a no-nonsense, straight haired, angry woman. She even changed voice actors, the change was so drastic. They even poke fun at this in Saints Row 4 by having the two Shaundis meet and the original one is called "Fun" Shaundi.
No joke, before this video I didn’t even realize that Tiny was in the Crash Mutant series. I thought it was a cousin of him, since the game series does bring in new characters from time to time. But now I realized that I was in denial, subconsciously.
It's not a physical change but Clementine in A new frontier was a completely different character to the Clem I shaped in 1 and 2. She was more violent and aggressive and I felt like the compassion I taught her to have in the first games was gone.
I like how X-2 starts with the misdirect of Yuna being a popstar, turning out that it wasn't Yuna and she isn't that outgoing, then when she is actually introduced she's even more outgoing than the pop singer imposter, confidently twin firing guns during a flip through the air into a battle pose. X-2 is underrated as heck.
Ah, X-2. The game that starts you off with gorgeous, bittersweet menu music, setting this melancholic mood, and then: SUDDEN POP CONCERT IN YOUR FACE. I still love it.
Change doesn't always work but when it does it can be pretty great. Lot of video game characters do end up changing for the best and being even more badass than before. I mean did anyone expect Raiden from Metal Gear solid to turn into a kickass cyborg ninja after 2? I sure didn't.
What I HATED about Tiny Tiger's redesign, is they made him a Bengal Tiger, when he's supposed to be a Tazmanian Tiger! And cos he was a Bengal, might as well make him sound like Mike Tyson, cos he famously owned a tiger at the time... Utterly ridiculous.
If anyone remembers the game Condemned: Criminal Origins, the main protagonist (Ethan Thomas) looks and acts drastically different in the sequel. Different personality, different voice actor, even possibly different ethnicity.
I love the changes they made for Lara Croft. That was a perfect redesign. And I thought for sure one of you would've brought up the change in Dante from Devil May Cry to DMC reboot. I liked the game, but I didn't care for the change in looks.
