iirc, mr katoki did say in the manual (thank goodness for english translations) tt the design team wasn't going for a crazy-detailed build like the nu gundam/sazabi, but was instead going for a good balance of transformation + articulation. no regrets after building it myself!
There's an extra hinge in the arm you can use to swing the shoulder forward and back. Pull on the peg and it will pull out. This is most likely for the Full armor add on but it's one of the only ways to get the gun up.
He also completely ignored 2 points of articulation on the waist. Theirs a decent ab crunch and it can move from side to side thanks to a swivel in the upper torso area.
you may have addressed this later in the video (im only 10 min in at this point) but the shoulder peg pops out and swings forward. Its really tough to move at first, but it loosens up over time. Popping that shoulder forward drastically increases its range of movement. And the toe does move down if you dislodge it from the track
Jerry Brioche I guess I was just counting those as part of the transformation and not the articulation of the Gundam in MS form~ anyway, still a positive review!
ZakuAurelius I may not have explained well the foot part definitely transformation related. But the peg that connects the arm to the torsos swing forward peg def for articulation. Since it was so stiff initially I didn't even know there was any articulation there. Then I took the arm off wiggled the leg forward and there it was. Similar to the 00 gundam and rx-78 3.0
I remember reading the subtitles and I was so confused and I seemed happier after watching each episode. I wish they would do a English dub for ZZ Gundam.
The ankles were so stiff on mine I broke one of em at the first bend :( I've build around 20 gundams so far, mostly rg and mg, and its the first thing that has broken on any of em. If anyone plans on getting the kit Iwould definitelyrecommend sanding down the pegs on the ankles used to pivot em side to side. Im luckily getting a replacement part send to me soon but Im pretty sure thats not an option for a lot of people so watch out!
Snapping this kit together now and over the next few days/week. It's been a fun experience like ZakuAurelius said. I just got done with the Turn Red Astray and the Red Astray, so this is a lot different. Glad I chose to take this one out of the backlog first instead of the MG 00 XN Raiser.
BTW, the Enhanced ZZ are sold as an add on set and a full kit, both are P-Bandai of course. So they might end up doing the same thing with the Full Armor ZZ.
im building this kit right now its really nice only thing i dislike are the hands i was hopeing it would have the fully articluated hands like some of the other MG kits
Katoki has done it again always surprised how that jumbo beam saber handle and lets wait what would katoki do to G-self edit: anyone remember that beam saber chopstick from gundam cafe?
You mean the Testament? It's an older design. But, for me man, you can't convince me that the G-Self is beautiful... Until it wears the Perfect Pack. The vanilla G-Self is for me is just a weird Strike Gundam... If anything, I would rather see Katoki do the Gundam G-Lucifer...
I agree, this was far more to fun to build than to pose and transform. I only transformed mine twice and I'm just leaving it in MS mode. Bandai has left some clues on the kit that they had some foresight to have the kit accommodate the FA upgrade. Whether they actually make it or not will be up to sales numbers. (V2 had the connection points for the assault buster upgrades but they never happened due to poor sales). If they were to come out with a Sentinel FAZZ, I'd gladly get one over the regular FAZZ. Yet I fear the shadow of P-Bandai will be all over that.
if it were like $3 cheaper it'd be a fun project kit. Practice skills. See what you can do on a low-importance kit. but it's like $17 with tax where i live and that's just NO
Not a big fan of the full armor ZZ, which it show up in just one episode from the show. Even judau didn't like it, and went into the final battle with Haman without the full armor on. In fact I really like the enhanced ZZ, the full set will be out on December with anime color on P-bandai. All the white part will change to very light green just like the show, I think it looks really cool and I am going to get it.
Finally building this myself, and I'm surprised so many people were so positive about it at the time. The first thing I noticed was the poly caps. Other new MG Releases of 2017 didn't use poly caps, and it seems like a very poor decision to use them here. Second was Bandai's constantly questionable use of "under-gating". Under-gating doesn't count if the nub is still on a visible section of the kit. The problem is compounded by poor placement that leaves nubs in a very confined space where it's difficult to even fit my blade for cleanup. Most of the under-gating was done in places where it would be easier to just clean the outside edge like usual. One example is in the rifle barrels, where the gates are on the inside of two pieces that need to fit flush, and then a seam need to be removed. The under-gating means a little extra effort to make the parts fit flush with each other, while the seam means you have saved no effort in sanding. It actually creates more effort than a standard edge gate at the seam. This poor under-gating is a constant problem with Bandai, and I could name examples on a number of kits like MGEX Strike Freedom or RG Force Impulse where it's more of a chore than it is worth. Still, compared to those examples the ZZ is the worst I've seen. Thankfully it seems like they've learned this lesson because the Zeta had no under-gating at all. My current takeaway is that Katoki's ideas about kit construction are outdated. Even the MG Wing Zero EW has some strange holdovers to outdated designs. You can clearly see where he just built the shoulder joints the same as the original MG Wing Zero, thankfully the poly caps at least were replaced by styrene parts. His redesigns are interesting, and kits like Wing Zero EW and Zeta needed some updates, but the construction seems dated and the under-gating isn't done well.
@ZakuAurelius, wonder if you knew that theres more articulation for the arms if you pull the shoulder connection out. I found out about this while building it.
Are there any areas that look prone to breaking, such as the hips or shoulders? Looked through the manual and it looks like the hips could be a troublesome.

Kagero Dragon the MG Ver Ka Sazabi is a huge kit, I think it has the most parts for an MG. If you’re an avid builder go ahead, but if it’s your first kit I’d recommend a different MG. But if you’re really set on it give it a shot. Built one myself and man I was building for days on end. Great kit though.
I am not gonna lie to you. I honestly would. I remember my local convention had an exclusive model for a different series, and I never bought it because It was a bit pricey and I regret it to this day. however I don't know you're situation, but I would definitely consider it.
Kagero Dragon If you have the money to spare I would say go for it, Considering gunpla is a fairly expensive hobby if you try to keep up with each new release, plus filling out your collection with older kits as well as any p-bandai kits.
Uhmmm got an idea for a custom, how about trowing on him the ReZEL missile launcher backpack from your last review and some big laser bazokka or gatling gun, that would be the FAZZ MK.2 and be part of the UC.96 Era
Man, I know Transformations are sorta iconic and are the thing that makes Zeta Gundams different but I really don't get why they bother including them, who buys this thing and thinks "man i cant wait to transform it and keep it like that!" it would also keep expensive ass kits from being flimsy, less articulated and awkward if they just didn't include the gimmick, in this case it didn't effect the kit but, just my 2 cents I guess.
I think they meant to see the transformation step by step. For me I understand, this will prolong the video by 30 minutes. But if you transform HG kits I think the videos will be much more informative. Stay strong Zach.
Phuc Mai honestly wotafa's reviews are a great example of showing off transformations properly he makes it always clear with gundam reviews hell the victory 2 doesn't even look to have a super complex tf in his review of ot
I'm watching this a second time because I'm like 99% the way there to buying this on USAGS because of their thanksgiving promotion they have going on, and you said use some extra money from the discount to buy an action base, BUT because of the promotion, it comes with a base, but unfortunately it's a 1/144 scale base...
Do you build the kit first and then disassemble it for painting? Im wondering because i want to paint my pg unicorn, its already assembled. And im not sure if its possible to disassemble it properly without breaking some parts.
It's just a joke! I really don't see the point of showing the transformation on screen. Plus it adds a lot of time to my videos already being (as commonly criticized) too long.
Jabman: It's a complicated kit< LMAO Anyways, this kit looks amazing and the only thing that I don't really like about ZZ is the color....it looks more like a 80's toy to me. I prefer the Sentinel color scheme, looks way more cooler than regular color.
Ok so, i am wanting it buy a MG Ver.Ka and i have narrowed it down to this and the Full amor gundam. i was wondering witch kit is a better build. i personaly like the design of the FA gundam but the size of the ZZ is appealing.
I was never a big fan of the design especially the lower legs. However, I appreciate this mobile suit in the anime series. basically this is the first powerful gundam in UC series.
i mean i was trying to get in ZZ gundam, but it just awful with the conflicting story telling, like in UC0079 we already been told " plane " as an idea for MS combat isnt a good idea, yet when we get to ZZ, they made a gundam out of 3 plane . not 1 not 2 3 plane. and to my understanding without either 1 of these plane ZZ gundam will be out of action. so why did they even design such thing. i have to say without knowing the ZZ gundam anime i really like this gundam back in the days bulky full of guns full of powers. but man after watching the anime this is such cringe for me lol but hey thanks for reviewing this kit fun time to watch
That's a very stupid question, to be honest. RE 1/100's goals is to make model kits in 1/100 that are easy to build, detailed, and cheap. This is also to bring obscure MS designs to the 1/100 line without it going through having an exclusive P-Bandai treatment. Plus, RE 1/100 is not THAT bad. If anything, it comes second to Master Grades in terms of quality. If people ask "why didn't this come to MG instead?", I suggest you crack open those thick skulls and try something new.
If you want to half ass your reviews people are going to criticize you. You get a big enough following and so many people yessing you and then you're getting triggered by comments because you couldn't have possibly done something poorly.
iirc, mr katoki did say in the manual (thank goodness for english translations) tt the design team wasn't going for a crazy-detailed build like the nu gundam/sazabi, but was instead going for a good balance of transformation + articulation. no regrets after building it myself!

It's Cory in the House.
No, its “Anime Ja Nai”

Finished mine last night. So glad I picked it, I didn't expect it to impress me that much, but hell yeah, it's absolutely a great kit!
it really is impressive!
I've become Jobbythehong-paranoid and everything now looks to me like a reference to his memes
thanks for the vid man, I'm totally getting this boy
I think this kit would look really nice in the color palate they used with the beyond global HG RX78, well I'd like to see it anyway.
I would recommend any gunplay fan get this kit.... its one of the best I've ever built.
i just bought this kit a day ago😊im so excited for my day off to come just to build this kit..
BTW, the Enhanced ZZ are sold as an add on set and a full kit, both are P-Bandai of course. So they might end up doing the same thing with the Full Armor ZZ.
叶川ヒロ yep yep! Knew that, just didn't get that in-depth
im building this kit right now its really nice only thing i dislike are the hands i was hopeing it would have the fully articluated hands like some of the other MG kits
SycoMantis finally someone that likes articulated fingers
ZZ Gundam a Super robot in disguise
ZZ is sick!
Now waiting for someone to customize this into Tryon-3, which I bet will involve a lot of kitbashing from Zoids.
This kit would look like a monster with black, and bluish grey tones. maybe white where the yellow bits are on the suit.
Katoki has done it again
always surprised how that jumbo beam saber handle
and lets wait what would katoki do to G-self
edit: anyone remember that beam saber chopstick from gundam cafe?
I will not wait for a normal G-Self. If they release a Perfect Pack, then I'll immediately give that MG 10/10.
Joeie Rivera well thats up to you. What I wait is what improvement katoki will do.
Make it not ugly, I guess? It's not even good to look at until it had the Perfect Pack.
Joeie Rivera its not that ugly IMO. It have a lot less seamlines than other kits. Even I think I saw a recent MS with G-self like design

Crazy reading this five years later...
I'm early, so let me make a joke
Hg Gundam Tristan.
if it were like $3 cheaper it'd be a fun project kit. Practice skills. See what you can do on a low-importance kit. but it's like $17 with tax where i live and that's just NO
abdoulaye haidara Alex Revive...
P-Bandi kits that should've of never been P-Bandai...
DanteAxe_SW I wanted that MG Hazel so bad....
Once its painted you should do a video review of it painted and with the water slide decales
It's a good thing that I just bought this kit. Cant wait to build it

Yeah. You wouldn't like it... UNTIL IT WIELDS THAT BIG ASS GUN.
Not a big fan of that BIG ASS GUN from full armor ZZ.
That's not a gun it's a goddamned submarine
This would be really nice in the mass production or Sentinel/FAZZ colors
We are getting FAZZ next year, so it doesn't need.
Its pretty dope. I'm deffentily going to make the white ZZ. I'm try and use my old one to make the full armor version.
Just bought mine! Just gotta wait for it to arrive, someday
A MG Full Armor ZZ Gundam Ver Ka. would be amazing!
Anime version would probably be PB as we're getting Sentinel FAZZ instead.

I know it's probably for a full armor expansion but you can pull the arm out for a bit of swing
The effect part for a beam saber makes a super effective pointer instead of using fingers or a laser pointer lol
I should rework mine to be pointers.
the ver ka. sub line feels like a compromise when bandai engineers cannot make their design look like the cartoons. :D
It was called VERSION KATOKI for a reason.
@ZakuAurelius, wonder if you knew that theres more articulation for the arms if you pull the shoulder connection out. I found out about this while building it.
I remembered later
What is that turning base that you are using for your videos. Im very interested in that
Are there any areas that look prone to breaking, such as the hips or shoulders? Looked through the manual and it looks like the hips could be a troublesome.
not that i noticed
What kit do you think is better: MG ZZ Ver Ka or MG Rezel Type C?
MG ZZ Ver Ka
Im looking for a big and bulky MG kit, idk if I should get Providence or ZZ. Whatchu guys think?
I’d go for the ZZ
ver. ka tryon 3 lol
p-bandai
^I don't fucking care if it will be. I WILL FUCKING GET IT.
same here though. I'm still fucking salty about no Gundam X Moah or Crossbone Moah MGs
this is a kit that would look amazing with weathering.
If Bandai does make a full armor ZZ Gundam and/or the sentinel version of the full armor ZZ Gundam will probably be p-Bandai :(
Good news: it's not.
Hehe boi u were wrong which turned out for the better
If I were to buy this Ver. Ka or the MG Full Armor, which one would be best?
Definitely,this kit
So the arm can’t swivel (go back and forth)?
It can actually but he missed it
AAAAAA I BOUGHT IT FROM THEM AND I HAD NO CLUE ABOUT YOUR CODE.
bear aiiee! Bummer man! Don't forget it next time!
so this kit got 98% non fall part right? so if someone who hate a kit that got some fall part , then this kit is the best right? do you think so?
Farid Asyraf it's very solid yeah
ZakuAurelius nice...for sure ill purchase this kit for my 2nd MG hahaa..thanks for your review😉
Which one would you buy first, Sazabi ver ka or this one?
Miguel Hernandez Sazabi for sure
Nu gundam(ver ka), Sazabi(ver ka), ZZ gundam(ver ka) are like the 3 must get MG, I would suggest getting ZZ first then, Nu, Sazabi. From simple to hard to build.
why get this when you can have a god tier mobile suit like the sazabi ver ka and nu ver ka? lol shouldnt even be a question bruh.
Definitely Sazabi
how this compare to full armor zz gundam??? i need advice
Awesome video as usual, what do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking, where you can snap up a Gundam model in your spare time?
Newtype 0085 I'm a teacher!
@@ZakuAureliusWait are you still a teacher? ( Probably not anymore) But if you aren't What do you do for a living?
Try-on 3 ......... that is all I want. literally they have the base mold. JUST DO IT BANDAI!!!! DOOOOO IT!!!!!!
... Remember this: They didn't do the X-Maoh and Crossbone Maoh. But, pray for the Tryon 3 to happen!
You see, this thing is an excellent model kit. I want to buy it. I think I can buy it.
But geez, the last ver. Ka kit (which was my first one) took me a month to complete. It was the Sazabi.
I really, really want this. But this thing kinda intimidates me.
Fazz ver.ka in 2020!
Oh wow, ZZ Gundam's knee is better than unicorn even being much thicker :/
I thought you could pull the shoulders out and then swing them forward? Or am I going crazy?
steven bouavone hmm maybe I missed that?

My first kit that I built was at 2013 (when I was 7)

Uhmmm got an idea for a custom, how about trowing on him the ReZEL missile launcher backpack from your last review and some big laser bazokka or gatling gun, that would be the FAZZ MK.2 and be part of the UC.96 Era
José would be a cool match-up!
You know what to do sir
Are you also gonna review the Hi res Wing zero EW?
SilverBullet nope
Could you theoretically cannibalize the old MG full armor ZZ and use those full armor parts on this one?
Sono probably not also just wait for some parts
Of course you could, given a lot of work. But it will be a lot easier if Bandai makes a new set so I'd just wait a bit
Null. Because often transformations can tend to be a selling point and often a lot of non-zeta gundam transformations don't make the kits unstable
@@dol_mel7487 i agree why make the kit if you dont include the most important feature which is the transformation

Or a gump.
Do you build the kit first and then disassemble it for painting? Im wondering because i want to paint my pg unicorn, its already assembled. And im not sure if its possible to disassemble it properly without breaking some parts.
Frank Sae-Luang Berge. You can disassemble it! Just take it slow
Frank Sae-Luang Berge. Also helps if you angle cut the pegs as you're building a kit. Helps with separating the parts later
They should make a rg version of this
That gundam has innerfame?
KillerBladeFrost yes
just picked this up at a convention today along with the hirm wing zero mg deathsythe ew and shins zaku 2

ZakuAurelius That why RE 100 are not MG : )
That's a very stupid question, to be honest. RE 1/100's goals is to make model kits in 1/100 that are easy to build, detailed, and cheap. This is also to bring obscure MS designs to the 1/100 line without it going through having an exclusive P-Bandai treatment. Plus, RE 1/100 is not THAT bad. If anything, it comes second to Master Grades in terms of quality. If people ask "why didn't this come to MG instead?", I suggest you crack open those thick skulls and try something new.
Sixth?
Who cares about FAZZ etc. Let's get TRYON!
Red7 fazz is more iconic than that cartoony ass build fighters rendition. fazz will ultimately get an actual rendition of a kit than that. tryon. lol
As much as Tryon is nice. Screw Build Fighters and what it has become.
But does it have a big arse sword though ...
That's just compensating for something
I love the "brave" style they did with the Tryon 3. As much as I love the Full Armor ZZ, I also want the Tryon 3 in MG.
Anime ja nai!
Tbh.. i love the ZZ but wish they released the full armor version of this instead of the standard one
This just looks really bulky and a little too busy
Lynx Kynx, blasphemy!
have you seen the zz? 😏
MG TRYON 3 and MG DRYON DREI!!! come on Bandai, DO IT PLEASE!
HiRM WZC plzzz :)
gabr joves nope! Sorry~
Anime janai indeed lol
Take a shot every time he says "for the transformation"...
If you want to half ass your reviews people are going to criticize you. You get a big enough following and so many people yessing you and then you're getting triggered by comments because you couldn't have possibly done something poorly.
Bruh.
Do it better yourself, then.
