    Just for clarification:
    1) 3:11 - On the previous models, you don't have to hold "both" brakes. You only have to hold the left brake.
    2) 5:18 - the fender storage compartment IS indeed waterproof. The dealer must have had it open when they were washing it. I've partially submerged that compartment, let it sit out in heavy rain and used a pressure washer on it. I've never had water in that compartment.
    3) 8:20 - you only get those rims with the "Deluxe" model

    I have a 2018 Rubicon DCT. It is no top end powerhouse. Low end crawling is great. I love it for trail riding and exploring but when I get it back to AZ it will seem a bit slow for when I need to hit the longer section of dirt roads. I don't think 20cc extra is going to do much performance wise. Looks good though

    I had two Ranchers which I sold. I was going to buy another Honda, probably the Rubicon but decided to look at other makes such as Yamaha. I ended up buying a 2019 Yamaha Kodiak 700 EPS. WOW, what a machine and don't regret my purchase what so ever. For the same price as the Rubicon I'm getting a high compression 700 (686cc) motor vs Hondas 520. Higher ground clearance. Most of all a buttery smooth engine with no vibration at all rpm ranges.

    • @ve3xtr
      @ve3xtr 3 роки тому +1

      @@foothillskid5535 definitely go with the Yamaha. It's a much more refined machine. Honda is a good reliable machine but lacks in some ways compared to Yamaha. Yes, Honda has no belts. But Yamaha has the best belt driven system in the industry. Test drive both and then decide. All I can say is when I drove the Kodiak after owning the Honda, the Kodiak was so much smoother and offered a nicer ride. Honda always seems to offer the bare minimum on their products and relies mostly on sales based on their brand name. I worked for Honda for over 10 years and saw the cost cutting first hand. Good luck with your decision.

    Honda's reliability is tops. But, they're short on power, ground clearance, suspension travel, and larger displacements. Running tracks at altitude, you NEED power and it's welcome in general. Make a bigger bore quad with a DCT, with ground clearance and suspension travel to match Polaris, Can Am, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and I'll buy it.

    Great machine and looks great but for the price it doesn’t compete with others. That atv in Ontario is around $10-12k... I can get a Polaris sportsman 570 brand new right now for $6500. It’s hard to even consider the Honda when I can have two of the Polaris for the same price. Same with canam.. there 570 right now is priced at $7700 with a 5 year warranty... hard to pass up. Here in Ontario tax on the purchase is 13% meaning 12k is almost $2000 in taxes ... again that’s one reason why it’s hard to buy a Honda right now.

    That's a really nice looking machine, and I love the color. The styling has come along nicely, but honestly, it resembles a 2008 Sportsman LE with less storage. That's not a bad thing, but it shows how far behind the competition Honda is. I'm sure the new engine is a great motor but they need to add a 650, 850 and 1000 and they'll have a killer lineup. The only people buying these are die-hard Honda fans. Who else is going to pay that kind of money for a 520cc when the competition is charging that for 850, and 1000 machines.

Honda's options for this proprietary system are limited and pricey. I would call this a con unfortunately. It's like iPhone non-sense but on an ATV.

      @@blackmesaoutdoors4863 My 2007 honda foreman has the handle bar mounted headlight. Also has 12V cigarette lighter socket by handlebars where you could plug in a usb charger. I have a 2015 Rancher which has the spot to put a 12V socket and under the radiator cover is a free harness with key on power so I just installed one tonight. I think if I upgrade to led headlamps I won't miss the lack of a handlebar mounted light on the Rancher. My front rack has a dual Rotopax mount and they have a small storage box that works with that system if you are trying to add storage without using the rear rack.

      @@blackmesaoutdoors4863 You can get the 12V cigarette outlets off amazon for around $10 and they have a waterproof cap. I used a large stepped bit to drill the plastic on the front of the quad under the handle bars. You could use a standard drill and open it up with a dremel tool if don't have access to stepped bits. The accessory harness on the Rancher under the front radiator lid had four wires. You use the green (ground) and white (positive) to wire your outlet or headlamp. They are the larger wires on the connector. I believe honda makes a harness that plugs into that connector for easier wiring but I didn't have it so I just cut the wires from the connector and wired directly to them. I was installing a winch which also needs keyed power to the handle bar switch so that got spliced in with my outlet. The outlets are handy to have because you can run the small emergency car air compressors from them to fill your tires as well as other 12v accessories like the chargers. Beware there is a version of the 12V marine outlet on amazon that the reviews say accessories like to pop out of.

    I have a 400 rancher from 2004. It has a dedicated licence holder, why would this one need zip ties ? Also, bigger is not always better. I have gotten myself around problems by creeping through the trees when bigger machines had to try to plow through a big mud hole and gotten stuck. Also a lighter machine is way easier to get unstuck. I don't know the exact weight of my machine but im damned sure its a lot lighter than this one. I am not happy to see all these mfgrs creeping up the sizes and complexity ( and prices ) of these machines. Just my two cents worth.

    the rims are useless... why do you need fancy aluminum rims to go trail riding.... and they add alot to the price... you can buy a car for less oh btw the rincon has alot more power...

    • @ShyaMiss
      @ShyaMiss 5 років тому

      The rincon is still only a 38hp machine... is that better than the 30hp of this 520? Of course! But it's still dramatically lacking compared to others of the same class. Rincon is a 680 at 38hp, Can Am 650 is 62hp... Can Am 450 is the equivalent of the Honda 680. The Rincon has gone for years with no meaningful updates. This Rubicon is a much nicer ATV in my honest opinion.
