      In the video at 48:50 you said that that you can only have one research token on your player board in the top left corner of your office. You can actually have multiple tokens that you then place in the office at the end of your turn. So multiple research tokens and award tokens. On page 12 of the rulebook you can see a picture of it :) hope that helps in your future plays :)

      @@adilmajid8785 We both feel that this one is less in terms of complexity. Lisboa is quite expansive, this one is a little more mechanical where we find it easier to understand what to do and in the right sequence. Hope that made sense!

    I just want to say thanks to EGG and Vital for giving permission for a review prior to the Kickstarter. Demo copies used purely for marketing has become the de-facto approach - bringing with it a cottage industry of content creators who exclusively shower praise on games they cover. EGG having the confidence to allow content creators to share their actual thoughts on a design prior to its release is a very positive signal.

    What I'd be interested in is, where does the game rank in your lists. I mean, you guys ranked all his games, so it would be really interesting to know where Weather Machine stands. - sorry, you answered the question right at the end.

    It was great for me to work with Vital again to help develop this game. Like many other Lacerda games it is rich in timing tension and rewards good planning. As you mentioned resource economy is critical…. find ways to get rewarded with free bots, chemicals and machine parts….The puzzle and replayability comes from player interaction, taking advantage of semi competitive opportunities.This and Kanban are my favorite Lacerda’s. Hope to see you at PAXU.

      @@stacie_everdell IMO Kanban has got Lacerda's best ever solo mode, and Weather Machine's solo mode is also by David Turczi, so I'd say it's a solid "He's not implying that."

      @stacie_everdell 2 роки тому

      @@kitsunin4690 Dave Turczi is a top solo designer for sure. I would still love to know from Paul, if "The puzzle and replayability comes from player interaction" does this mean that there is less of a puzzle and less of replayablility for solo.

    • @kitsunin4690
      @kitsunin4690 2 роки тому +1

      @@stacie_everdell what I didn't say is that the same is true for Kanban. All of the replayability of the multiplayer game comes from the interaction, and the AI players do a fabulous job as an alternative.
      I had a look at Weather Machine's solo rules and they are also pushing hard in the direction of forcing a lot of interaction without too much overhead.

      @@BeforeYouPlay There are a few issues here: 1. The lens matters but so does the chip in the camera. 2. Realistically, if you want to increase the resolution, then the solution is to shoot and then upload in 2K or 4K. The issue here is that many folks will not have monitors that will display 4K correctly (turning on the 4K option on a 1080 monitor will not give any benefit). Having said all that, for those with large screen 4K TVs, it will definitely be beneficial.

    Played the game 3 times with my wife and we started really enjoying it on our third play.
    I totally agree with you : not the most complex Lacerda game, but one of the "hardest" to explain as it is complicated to put some theme into explanations. It's a bit punishing as well, especially in the first turns.
    We are huge Vital Lacerda fans, but this one isn''t amongst our favorites for these reasons. Still a great game, above a lot of other heavy eurogames in our opinion.

      Since i mostly play at 2 player count my list would be:

      2. On Mars (scales really well)
      3. Vinhos
      4. Escape plan (auto player works well, most unique of all)
      5. CO2 (most difficult of all)
      Have never played Lisboa and weather machine since could not get my hands on a copy yet.

    Hi. Love your clear teaches and great play through. I’m absolutely backing this. One thing I think is a mistake: at about 48:50 you say that if you’ve taken a research token and then you get another one, you can’t take it. I don’t think that’s correct. The Rulebook seems to show two tokens on top of each other at the top left spot, and I think the wording allows for multiple. I think the point of not placing the research token until the end of your turn, is that you can’t place it immediately and gain a benefit that might help you achieve the next part of your turn.
    Thanks for a great channel - keep up the great work.

    • @ShelleyDanielle
      @ShelleyDanielle 2 роки тому +1

      You are correct Lindsay, there is no limit to research tokens on your player board, you can definitely gain 2 in one turn. The only rule is that all research must be placed at the end of your turn unless it's an Award tile. Those can be placed at any time on your turn.

    • @wesleywalser8409
      @wesleywalser8409 2 роки тому

      Searched for this question as I was about to ask it myself. Thanks!
      P12 of the rule book, step 4 has an example diagram showing two research tokens stacked. There is no other indication of a limit on the number of research tokens. I believe the purpose of not placing research tokens immediately (besides when the weather machine runs) is to prevent players from gaining tokens and publishing a paper within the same turn - which would otherwise be possible using a subsidy tile.

  • @keel1701
    @keel1701 2 роки тому

    Regarding the theme, each of the three main sections are different weathermachines being worked on. The government one is for a machine the government is making, the Lativ one is for Lativ's (which is why it causes more problems) and the R&D section is how you build your own prototypes to fix it. Placing your bot is you taking time to research/develop part of a machine, then you can build a prototype using your creations with the help of the other scientists.

    Another rule clarification: you cannot use executive exchange to exchange any three vouchers for a science voucher if you still have any science voucher. For example, 00:46:43, Naveen must spend his science voucher as the second gov voucher, rather than using executive exchange to spend 2 lab + 1 sup as the second gov voucher, because he does have one sci voucher left.

    Wow Monique. Your teaches are intense (that is not a bad thing ). But i have a question. For this teach, did you pretty much do the teach in one take or is this hours of teach edited down? From the video and where i can detect cuts, it seems this is mostly a single take. Very impressed.
    Now lets see if the game intrigues me as the play unfolds.

    The solo mode will probably be the decider for me to back or not. I imagine because it is higher interaction that most there will probably be significant additional rules overheard and I think that will put me off. I own and enjoy Kanban and On Mars solo but the simplicity of The Gallerist is a joy.

      Solo comes with cards for the saboteurs, two new meeples that play like an additional player. Its pretty straightforward. Draw a cards, do what it says at that location, publish paper if they can.
      Its developed by David Turczi. I find it a clean design and mimics another player very well.

    What do you think about adding an other end game condition, similar to the saboteur solo mode, where if a certain amount of level 3 extreme weather are on the board and you immediately just score for your contribution ? Someone mentioned it on bgg and I think it adds a lot of theme and flavor to the game ! Like it is too late and the world is in too much chaos !

    First of all: Great Review! Thanks
    We just started with On Mars at 3 Player and I loved that game so much thanks to your Rules Teach / Playthrough. After, we wanted to start with our next Lacerda and they all felt so different and complicated to On Mars. I dont know why but they were not so smooth for me for any reason.
    I think that On Mars and WM are quiet similiar, no? Or what would be your next recommendation if On Mars was great and you want to start with the next Lacerda journey with 3 - 4p?

      We still really enjoy the game at 2, it's just a much richer experience at the 3 player count. We find there could be a little bit of a runaway at 2 vs 3 players. This will certainly stay in our collection.
