Hi thx for watching. Here is a link to where I found it: www.komoot.com/collection/1788703/the-breaking-waves-cycle-along-the-atlantic-coast-of-portugal
Nice journey and video. Couple of questions: are most roads suitable for a road bike with wide tires ? And what's your experience with car drivers ? I read riding in Portugal is dangerous compared to other countries, which puts me off a little. Cheers !
A lot of those roads felt pretty uncomfortable with my surly ogre that has 29/2.5’ tires so a road bike may not be the best for some areas. Can’t remember how cars were, but definitely don’t copy the same route I did from kommooot as it went through a bunch of private property. Thanks for watching!
This was a collection of random routes but I think you could find more paved paths for the whole coast. The person who made the route must have liked making it harder than it needed to be. 🤣
A tip if you ever repeat the trip: by taking the ferry at S. Jacinto, you missed beautiful trails along Ria de Aveiro. The road that goes to the ferry is very beautiful, but also not the safest for cyclists. Crossing Varela bridge before takes you to the Ria paths and allows you to avoid most of that road.
@@matthiaskenton7862 there's also a little mistake in the video. When you say you are in Viana do Castelo you're actually showing images of Ponte de Lima. Both are close by in location.
Great video, man! Love to see it.

@@matthiaskenton7862 whould you choose a Hardtail with front suspension next time?
All roads are suitable for road bikes. If you choose gravel roads, use a gravel ir a XC bike.
Do you have any route info? Planning info?
I went on komoot and found somebodies route. Wouldn’t recommend it though, a lot was on private property. Il see if I can find it later
Hi, sorry to ask, you started at Valenca, so what was the airport you landed at ? Thank you
Landed in Lisbon and drove up to Valenca. Thx for watching
Matthias...how do you storage the bike bag? you carry with you ????
My parents took it and put it in their rental car.
Let’s go Matthias
Thanks bud
Btw- are the gravel and sand trails considered part of the bike route? Or, is there a paved bike route from north to south?

Thanks a lot for the information. Will definitely check it out!
