Anyone notice that marijuana is the only drug mentioned by name on the form? Does the addiction clause consider prescription drugs? Why would someone have to self incriminate and who determines if you are addicted? Rehab clinics will call you addicted to alcohol if you have more than a drink a day but will also prescribe you anti depression medication.

Hunter's legal team showed their disrespect & contempt for the jury by using Semantics about addiction to bamboozle & sway their verdict to not guilty. Furthermore, they tried to garner sympathy for him, as an addict, and addiction is a sad business, but conversely argued he wasn't an addict at the time. A strange tactic.

He should have taken the plea deal he was offered and none of this would have happened. Now he goes to court for 1.3 million in tax evasion as a convicted felon. All he had to do was pay his taxes. Also he owes a million dollars in child support. At some point he will have to pay that also.
He should face charges based on his drug possession as well.

While some might find the verdicts harsh, it’s part of recovery. For recovery, you must admit your faults and face consequences (make amends) which isn’t just saying sorry. To make amends is paying your dues AND changing the behavior. Whatever the sentence, it is his amends. Once an addict, always an addict. It’s “time” and change of heart since last time you use. In I am 24 years sober - I am not just blowing smoke. I have watched the patterns over and over - seen the movie so many times. This might well save his life. What is typical is to “get away” with it and go on a massive bender because you know you aren’t worthy deep inside. It’s a dark insidious disease. I wish the best for him. The grips of addict are far worse than any jail. It ends the same …. Jails, Institutions or Death … unless true recovery is found. He’s hitting the checklist like clockwork. He lied and is an addict, he knows it and so does everyone else - period. My guess is that there are people in his inner circle, that when you take the politics out of it are happy with this verdict. It’s giving him a chance at a real clean life.

Being under while filling out the form means NOTHING! Using before and after is a key fact. Using the gun also means NOTHING, because he is being charged with filling out the form while still carrying on with drug use.
At least Joe is standing with the verdict. He is not crying that it was rigged. He is not offering Hunter a pardon. That's the difference between Rump and Biden. Joe accepts the rule of law while Trump tramples it.
