This video captures swimmers on Day 1 completing 4.8 km from Fremantle to Cottesloe. Starting at Port Beach near the Coast Bar Restaurant, they swim north in near perfect conditions past Bib and Tucker Restaurant, the Orange Box Cafe, the Fremantle SLS Club and the famous Dingo Sign on the old flour mill. Then on past Cable Stations and the Artificial Reef. This long stretch of beach is a favorite for dogs. Passing the Dutch Inne and Deep Six reefs, famous surfing spots, the South Cottesloe Groyne and then Isolators, Seconds and the Cove also good winter surf breaks but not today its calm there's no swell at all. The last stretch of the swim takes them past the shallow rocky ledge offshore from Muderup Rocks, the fishing place. The drone picks them up here, swimming around the Cottesloe Groyne. First, its 200m along the Shark Barrier's outer edge before turning to shore for the final 100m to the beach. The greeting is wonderful, well deserved hi fives and hugs from coaches and swimming buddies, they've completed the first leg 4.8km. Tomorrow, Day 2 is from Cottesloe to City Beach, click on the link for the Day 2 video, and if you're into open water swimming there's a link to an open water swim playlist.
