    The tecnam is a good looking plane and the model looks good. Personally I hate them as a mechanic because they tend to be maintenance hogs. I haven't flown one due to not having my multi. Side note, the reason you burp the engine is for checking the oil levels. They have a dry sump system meaning the oil is contained separately from the engine. By spinning the propeller you circulate the oil back into the oil tank so you can get an accurate reading on the dipstick. The burping sound happens from the oil return line running out of oil to return to the tank and blowing air. If anyone is interested in my grieves with the Tecnam I will list them in a reply. I have 4 years experience working on them along side sportcruisers, da40's, da42's, and cessnas.

    • @BrockvsTV
      @BrockvsTV Рік тому +14

      We have two tecnams which are a 2006 and a 2009 manufacturer that will be phased out in the future by our two new(they are pre owned and have a few years on them, not sure if bulit after 2010 or before) da42's with IO360 engines. Here are the reasons I don't like the tecnam. The brake rotors are very thin. They compare more to our light sport aircraft which are 400 Lbs or 120 Kgs lighter at max weight then the tecnam is at full weight. If you are hard on the brakes and use them often like for touch and goes the brakes will overheat the rotors and cause them to warp.
      The brake system itself has some weird points in it though hard turn fitting that make it hard to bleed the brakes. Air bubbles get stuck and are hard get out.
      Access panels are generally a complaint in aviation but there are point on the tecnam that really annoy me. The large nose gear panel is good, the wings are good except for anything running through the engine nacelle but the tail and interior are barely enough to get the job done. You have two panels to access the hydraulic pump and they are ok for regular servicing but not very good for heavier stuff. Looks of putting you arms at weird angles and feeling things out. The panel that on older models gives you access to the voltage converts sucks and it easier to take the back wall of the interior out. The interior generally sucks and is a vacuumed plastic that likes to break easily especially when installing it. It like do beak around its attachment points which generally sheet metal screws into the airframe. They just break and feel cheap
      Lastly our two tecnams don't match the wiring diagram and don't even match each other. Tecnams vary on what parts they use by year and electrical issues are generally a pain to trace and take multiple days. The electrical is by fair what annoys me the most especially since the manuals don't help you.
      Each plane has its own qwerks like cessna panels for the fuel tanks don't give you any favors either but working on a tecnam is harder and more annoying than any other plane I work on. All hail diamonds in my opinion.

      Wow, thanks for letting me know! So the oil doesn’t run back to the accumulator naturally? And does it sound like this model?

    • @BrockvsTV
      @BrockvsTV Рік тому +5

      @@cgaviator the oil only runs back if the engine or propeller is moving therefore moving the oil pump. The oil does not naturally run back to the oil tank. Generally I'd say there is usually a quart or liter sitting in the engine that will not show on the dipstick unless you burp it. When doing an oil change you have to burp the engine multiple times so you can drain the oil. If you don't burp it it will be overfilled and either eject it out the oil tank cap or the oil overflow which gets overwhelmed quick. It makes a mess. It does sound like the model, just remember to get that sound in real life you have to have the oil cap off to hear it.

    I'm very happy to see that the P2006T have been developed. This is one of the most used aircraft for MEP and MEIR training in Europe. Lots of students (including me) will have the opportunity to train at home both on the use of the aircraft and on the training they are undergoing.
    It's also a very good product, I'm sure it will "rehab" the name of the developers after the E-175 "incident".
    Anyway, I hope that in the release version the blue and red lines in the speed strip will be implemented 🙂

    The reason the engine indications move from the PFD to MFD is because on start up the PFD is running in reversionary mode. Once you turn on the avionics master, it activates the MFD, which is where engine instrumentation is supposed to be. The only way engine instrumentation would move to the PFD is if there was a failure of the MFD, in which case everything is consolidated into one screen.

Single engine performance is abominal and in terms of really useful load is very limiting. Auto pilot is strange, doesnt allow flight director without AP on and the AP itself if very strange with maneuvers and sometimes it looses its mind, so much that we had dedicated cut off switches por the A/P trims. Flew that thing 6 years ago for my ME rating.
    Since then collected hundreds of hours in MEP planes and thousands in Jets and can say: This plane is the worst I've ever flown. Maneuverability is horrible and if you lucky and weather is not too hot it can barely hold it's altitude single engine, which is not really surprising since it's powdered by two lawnmowers which bring the same power as a normal Cessna 172.
    The only reason this plane does exist are greedy flight schools.
    Every 40 years old Seneca or Seminole is way superior than this thing.
