In April 1972, elements of our SJAFB 4th Tactical Fighter Wing were sent under emergency war orders (Linebacker I aerial campaign) to Ubon RTAFB temporary duty (TDY). Ubon RTAFB hosted the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing's F-4C and F-4D squadrons, made famous by Col. Robin Olds. There was also the famous AC-130 Spectre gunship squadron. Another small squadron had USAF OV-10 FAC birds. IIRC they were painted kind of a yellowish cream color, and typically loaded for bear. I really wanted to fly in one but never got the chance. Oh well, soon I'll be able to do it virtually.😁

Thanks Chris, I was fortunate to have experienced a pax flight in a Harrier T4 in Germany in the late 70s. It was an FAC sortie provided by an OV10 against a convoy with a simulated attack. When I visited Stallion 51 at Kissimmee a few years back, I was lucky to be invited to sit in the cockpit of the Bronco they used to use as a camera ship for air to air photography (shut down, in the hangar, I should add!) Amazing experience. Has been one of my favourite aircraft ever since. Will definitely be buying this.
I noticed one small detail. When starting these Garrett TPE-331 engines, there is no delay between hitting the starter button and seeing the prop start to move. It is all geared together. In the animation you hear the compressor whine before prop rotation begins. If you walk up to the actual airplane and hand turn the prop, you will see the compressor wheel turn as well. Otherwise, well done.
Love the Bronco. I handled air crew systems from O2 to Ejection Seats. One of the Broncos I worked on is on display at Miramar. Had a pilots pig tail malfunction prior to taxi. I had to replace it while the bird was turning….absolutely terrifying that close to the prop. After Desert Storm we had a Staff Sgt walk into the prop. Only time I knew it happened with the Bronco. Can’t wait to fly it.

Fantastic rendition of this fabulous aircraft! Everything manual, the essence of flying. The start sequence is very much like the Fairchild Metro and Cessna Conquest, which were also Garrett powered. Generally, the prop locks didn’t come off until both engines were running and you were ready to taxi. They’re a feature on this single spool design to lock the prop pitch into the fine position and prevent the possibility of a catastrophic engine overload should the power levers inadvertently be moved towards feather (an unlikely event once the levers were forward of the ground idle gate at the commencement of taxi). Thanks again cgA for a wonderfully enthusiastic review (like the Tornado!) 👍

@@imageeknotanerd9897 I saw, but I'd love a full fidelity one. Always compromises with mods. With the F4, A4 and Bronco you have a full on CAS operation. Just need the ability to write with a grease pencil on the canopy....
The available freeware version is really nice, however, I will be purchasing this one. It looks outstanding! The Aerosoft Bronco for FSX was one of my all time favorite add-ons. The Bronco design is perhaps one of the best all around models for sightseeing/cruising in MSFS due to it's decent, but not too fast cruise speed and it's excellent visibility...
As one that has owned the Bronco in FS9/FSX/P3D, and has the freeware one in MSFS, I will most likely be picking this one up as well. I love COIN aircraft and this one is the king of COIN. I wish they would start building them again.
One comment, the OV-10 uses the same engine (only the mil version) as the civilian TPE-331, which has the prop linked via gears to all sections of the engine.... there shouldn't be any delay on movement of the props on startup. I have several videos on startup and you can see it's instant. Otherwise, it looks pretty cool.
@@cgaviator It works for anything that uses the most common turboprop out there, the PT6A. The Mitsubishi MBU2 also uses the TPU331A. Only thing I'd like to see is the dev to use the updated engines that went to 1078HP, and the D/G model with the longer nose used later in Vietnam and by US DOS in Columbia in the 90s.
Just dropping a like on the vid without watching it, because I don't want to be spoiled! I was going to get this thing anyway - I've been flying a much modified version of the freeware one a lot - and I want that new feeling. I'll return when I've flown it a while. Azurpoly do pick some corkers - the Transall satisfies your urge to hurl a regional turboprop down a valley, and now this does the same for King Air pilots. They are, sadly, not doing us a Falcon for those Cobham/Draken escapades :S
@@cgaviator yeh same here. I was wondering if it is maybe a new driver update. I’m pretty sure it started after I installed an NVIDIA driver, but who knows?! It’s all voodoo!!!
I’ve always loved that they would name their company something that sounds so much like ‘invidious’. adjective (of an action or situation) likely to arouse or incur resentment or anger in others. It’s just so fitting. That’s said, my 4090 makes me smile every day, except when I come up short on rent all the time.
Great video, she's a very accomplished piece of payware and feels almost like a DCS module, except finished! How do you get the tablet to appear on the seat? Mine appears on the left or right hand side but is not clickable on the right hand side as the buttons behind 'get in the way' of the cursor
This looks like a perfect candidate for some VR flying low down, trees whipping past. Visibility from that superbly detailed cockpit will give an amazing speed sensation. You seem keen with the handling Chris, do you feel the weight and power is as you would expect? You spoke of inertia, I think in the context that it wasn’t too free to move like a light GA, but more purposeful, is that right?
Another great video, thanks so much. A question: I understand autorotation in rotary aircraft but what does it mean for fixed wing? (You mention it at 21:14 when talking about the stall/spin.)
One of my favourite real-world miltary aircraft. I loved the Aerosoft Bronco in FSX/P3D, so I'm really looking forward to this Azurpoly model. Other than the Optica, is there a better aircraft for viewing MSFS' fabulous scenery ? My only reservation is the wear and tear in the cockpit - as so often the case it's somewhat overdone, particularly the paint chips along the top of the glare shield. Other than that, though, it shall be in my hanger the moment it comes out. Great video!
Wow this is one interesting looking little plane! The visibility is beyond impressive, full analog gauges, the superb realistic look and feel of the HeatBlur F-14 Tomcat inside. The cockpit resembles an A-10 and the rest is like a Cessna Skymaster. What where they thinking when designing that plane? :D What do you think about the air condition, is it sufficient? So much glass and the best visibility of any aircraft that was ever designed heats up very quickly in summer but also needs good defrosting in winter. This plane should be really flown in VR.
@@cgaviator I hope so. Honestly though, the Blackbird PC-6 Pilatus Porter is the only turboprop simulation I've personally encountered in MSFS2020 that models all the engine parameters correctly, including spool-up time and EGT behavior. The is like the Vietnam bird dog planes but newer. Is that the role its for? Those guys in Vietnam had some massive stones to fly in the role they played back then.

I bought this but I’m having trouble with the throttles. I’m on the V1 flight stick and I can’t get the throttles to go all the way forward. I tried the EFB but it’s tricky and reversed. Any help would be appreciated.
Sadly there are quite a few variables. Have you calibrated your throttle? Checked sensitivity? Double checked throttle setup vs their manual? Does it work properly on other models?
@@cgaviator i knew it! is it too much to ask what you used for this vid and if you mess around with your "usercfg.opt" ? I really like the end result and would like to try to recreate it with some personal changes.
Looks a very nice quality rendition of the a10 warthogs ugly cousin. 100% function over looks. Whats the history of this? Will have to go google a bit.
I buy anything Azurpoly creates and the cockpit looks wonderful. However I'm not to sure about those very ... 'clear and present' ... panel-lines on the external. They do not look very realistic to me at all. It's as if they all have a black line drawn around them! Is that shadow? Are they too thick? Is it your graphics settings? Contrast maybe?
Haven't been playing MSFS much lately due to ridiculous loading times, but this AC will bring me back in for sure! However, I will delete most of my addons in the Community Folder as the loooooong load times are 56k obnoxious. Sure hope MSFS2024 fixes the addon load time issue bigtime!

@@imageeknotanerd9897 🤫 sssh, don’t say things like that… the DCS lovers will swarm! 😂
“I’m a fan of the one with the teeth.” That was also my preference at the Naafi Bop.
😂
It looks awesome. Does it come with a custom pilot? Tony De Bruyn’s Bronco is always great to see at airshows.
Didn’t look like it, so I presume not
As one that has owned the Bronco in FS9/FSX/P3D, and has the freeware one in MSFS, I will most likely be picking this one up as well. I love COIN aircraft and this one is the king of COIN. I wish they would start building them again.
King COIN - that’s catchy!
really nice and on my wish list
Don’t leave it there long! 😝
Viz out of this it top notch.
Also true!
Yup, developer aware. Sadly the MSFS turboprop model is based on free turbine so apparently it’s hard coded. I’m sure they’ll fix if they can 👍🏻
@@cgaviator It works for anything that uses the most common turboprop out there, the PT6A. The Mitsubishi MBU2 also uses the TPU331A.
Only thing I'd like to see is the dev to use the updated engines that went to 1078HP, and the D/G model with the longer nose used later in Vietnam and by US DOS in Columbia in the 90s.
Me: bedtime
You: dropping a video.
Me: I shouldn’t……but I might.😅
lol, sorry! It’ll still be there in the morning! 😉
That’s a decent way to do it! Sounds like it’s out soon! I need to get back in the Transall as it’s so much fun for a big bird!
Looks fantastic
👍🏻
Don’t know if someone has mentioned it already but you can get rid of the flash by turning off BLOOM in settings. Works for me anyway.
Yup, found that afterwards but I like the bloom. Wonder what actually causes it. Wasn’t happening til recently.
@@cgaviator yeh same here. I was wondering if it is maybe a new driver update. I’m pretty sure it started after I installed an NVIDIA driver, but who knows?! It’s all voodoo!!!
@@eggsdooley I reckon it is a driver thing. And I remember the Voodoo GPUs! 😂
I’ve always loved that they would name their company something that sounds so much like ‘invidious’.

It’s just so fitting.
That’s said, my 4090 makes me smile every day, except when I come up short on rent all the time.
@@eggsdooley 😁🤘🏻
Nice flight! 😀
Certainly was, definitely recommended!
The graphics are really good, I did the North Coast 500 in one in 45 mins.
👌🏻
This is too good! ❤
But still true! 😁
Great video, she's a very accomplished piece of payware and feels almost like a DCS module, except finished! How do you get the tablet to appear on the seat? Mine appears on the left or right hand side but is not clickable on the right hand side as the buttons behind 'get in the way' of the cursor
Strange, not sure. I think there is an EFB click spot/button on the front console. May need to check manual
@@cgaviator That EFB switch just turns it on/off. Maybe I have a newer version than you as I just bought it. Who knows!
It’s really hard to get this right in sim, and I haven’t flown a real Bronco, but I do think it feels purposeful like you say 👍🏻
Another great video, thanks so much. A question: I understand autorotation in rotary aircraft but what does it mean for fixed wing? (You mention it at 21:14 when talking about the stall/spin.)
Autorotate in a fixed wing is when the aircraft rolls when you haven’t put roll input in. Unless I’ve remembered that wrong! 😅
Calfire livery too? Oh I am so buying this.
🤘🏻
Hi Chris. Thanks a lot for this Review. Looks amazing. I have a question. Is this standart msfs weather or a addon?
Greetings
Weather Preset Pro ‘Typical Spring Day!’ 😅
Great video.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great Video.... Can you imagine if this had been around in WW2....a P38 light...:0)...
💪🏻
One of my favourite real-world miltary aircraft. I loved the Aerosoft Bronco in FSX/P3D, so I'm really looking forward to this Azurpoly model. Other than the Optica, is there a better aircraft for viewing MSFS' fabulous scenery ? My only reservation is the wear and tear in the cockpit - as so often the case it's somewhat overdone, particularly the paint chips along the top of the glare shield. Other than that, though, it shall be in my hanger the moment it comes out. Great video!
Fair points, I think there’ll be Broncos everywhere when this releases! 😁
The Optica, the OV-10, the Scottish Aviation Bulldog, & the Bell 47J are the best sightseeing aircraft in the sim, IMHO.
I've never heard of this aircraft before. Is it like a propeller version of the A-10? It sure reminds me of that aircraft though lol.
Yeah, a little!
Looks like good fun!
Very much so!
Bet it would be a bit of a greenhouse til takeoff!
EGT/TIT indications are wrongly modeled on startup. Azurpoly simply used default MSFS2020 engine parameter coefficients, which are messed up. Sad.
Specific bug that I’m sure they’ll update if they’re told! They’re good at that 👍🏻
@@cgaviator I hope so. Honestly though, the Blackbird PC-6 Pilatus Porter is the only turboprop simulation I've personally encountered in MSFS2020 that models all the engine parameters correctly, including spool-up time and EGT behavior. I had no idea you spent time here in Texas though! That makes you extra-cool. ;)
The is like the Vietnam bird dog planes but newer. Is that the role its for? Those guys in Vietnam had some massive stones to fly in the role they played back then.
I believe so, airborne FAC type thing. Very large stones indeed!
Yes, the OV-10 was a FAC/CAS aircraft. The O-2 replaced the O-1 Birddog and the Bronco replaced the Skymaster.
Well, very nice 😊
Indeed 😁
Been waiting for this aircraft to arrive, looks amazing! BTW do you have additional scenery around Southampton? Looks a lot better than I remember it on the console at least.
Southampton by Orbx not sure how far out it covers. I have recently dialled up settings with my new graphics card so that could be it! 😅
@@cgaviator it really massively improved what I see on console, the train station I’m sure isn’t there like you have it. I really need to move to PC lol thanks for the reply 👍🏼
Definitely something I'd buy on xbox. Looking forward to it.
Will the gun be available on Marketplace Xbox?
Nope, no weapons allows on marketplace
i apologize for asking, but do you use any reshade or graphics additions?
Nvidia filters
How on earth do they model so accurately? It’s beyond me, but very enjoyable.
They’ve got a serious pro on their payroll!
Maybe I missed it, but are they planning to add Philippine Air Force liveries? They're still using Broncos up to this day
Not sure about any other details. Could ask on their discord?
Just curious, how many hours do you normally get in a plane before a video like this? 8 seems like a lot, but your videos are always well informed when you post them, and that’s why I watch you 😂
Thanks, appreciate it! A lot of takes, trial and error, external shots, and some sitting there while I look up info. I do some beta testing along the way also so it’s probably about right! 😅
Nice works
👍🏻
There should be a nose cone on those goddamn sidewinders. Until you have slid out of the back of one of those at 10k feet you'll never know what it's like to fly in one.
True!
If you're getting the intermittent white flash then check the following, IF you're on the Direct X 12, turn off Bloom
Yeah, just found that! How annoying!
I am waiting on the Combat Flight simulator mod for MSFS.
Like it used to be availible for Flight simulator 25 years ago before microsoft pulled the plug
I’m surprised TacPac hasn’t got involved. I wonder if MSFS have locked it out somehow?
Hope they have an OV-10D in the works.
Difference?
@cgaviator upgraded props and engine and has a flir camera in nose. Just looks cool too.
@@CAPEjkg nice!
D model would be nice as it's the only one that carried Sidewinders.
Do you know when this will be released and where?
I try and find some links to info, but I didn’t want to mention anything as I’m not 100%. Release dates often change
@@cgaviator For sure, just wanted to know since this is my fathers favorite airplane and this might convince him to try out my setup 😃
Good plan! I’ve pinned what I know in the comments section and put some links in description for you 👍🏻
@@cgaviator Thank you! Really looking forward to this one because of how much I enjoyed their C-160
Would love to see this in DCS, but I know that would probably never happen.
The freeware DCS I seem to remember was half decent?
@@cgaviator the freeware OV-10 can’t hold a candle to this one. Wish it was in DCS, but I’ll have fun with it in MSFS instead.
Great job on this video; you just earned another subscriber... me ;) Cheers.
Always appreciated, thank you
Will this need to be purchased outside the MsFS marketplace to be able to use the guns?
Correct 👍🏻
Looks stuttery? The c160 had that issue too… especially in multiplayer
Not sure if this is the model or the system running it 😅
hey did you use any filters in the vid? It looks different somehow.
Well observed! Nvidia filters, yup 👍🏻
@@cgaviator i knew it! is it too much to ask what you used for this vid and if you mess around with your "usercfg.opt" ? I really like the end result and would like to try to recreate it with some personal changes.
@@techstepman I’ll have to do a video on it perhaps. I re-tinker every time new Nvidia drivers come out.
Looks a very nice quality rendition of the a10 warthogs ugly cousin. 100% function over looks. Whats the history of this? Will have to go google a bit.
Interesting history, ugly but beautiful!
I have contrast slightly increased, but it’s a fair point, panels lines are sometimes too obvious on models
Great video! Only if this thing was in DCS though🙃(i found out there is actually a mod for it!)
True, but I’d prefer to fly it over the amazing scenery in MSFS. I dry try the DCS mod briefly. This is much better imo 👍🏻
@@cgaviator fair dos. Msfs is a beautiful game. I just like blowing stuff up lmao.
@@binkus5598 🤣 Is definitely satisfying!
I just boot it up then grab a brew! Seems to work out ok! 😅
@@cgaviator Now that’s keeping things positive! Thx for helping me tighten the formation! 😊
@@simwirx 🤗
I thought MSFS had some kind of weapons restriction across the platform. Or was that nothing more than a rumor?
Yes, nothing brought from the ingame marketplace is allowed weapons.
Bro what are your graphics settings!!??
There’s a secret setting above ultra! 🤣 Seriously through, most things just high.
