I don't think that love is unconditional. I mean, you have to give something away in order to receive something back (whether it is just your natural appealling, or love and caring, ... you have to do something for real). However, it doesn't mean that one side has to do it all. Instead, I believe that fairness (that both have to really do something) and embraceness of both to their relative true selves are the base of a healthy relationship.
