What would your opinion be on starting out on a good bourbon for first time?
Dude .. you need to check out The Morning Dram Coffee!
@@chriswilcox1932Makers Mark, anything Russles Reserve
Bottle similar to Bakers with a larger cork size. Bright red label with a giant B and thats it with bourbon under it. And the back side with all the information in a cosmic sans script.
Still hoping you try the glacial lakes South Dakota locally made. It's smooth.
Russell seemed like a genuine and nice guy! I really hope that Stagg at $60 didn’t get him in trouble.. 😂
Oh he got fired is my guess 😮💨😂 especially with this video coming out
Oh man. I thought the same thing. Hope the owner wasn’t too mad. But…I definitely came up once like that, Crown XR Waterloo. Kid didn’t know, he rang it up, $147…Sold!
So… here’s the thing about brewzle hunting: “ya got anything interesting or unique?” Some shops show him 10-20 unique and interesting things “nah we are being super selective” buys nothing, leaves. This shop, shown 10 interesting things, but then flips his lid (with 2 reaction clips) over a highly known bourbon because it’s highest- level tater bottle at msrp. ECBP C923 is as good. BT should never make more of their stuff I’m sure they are laughing all the way to the bank.
This guy showcased the store so well, I'd be shocked if the owner was mad.
I was coming here to post, that poor kid got canned.
Thanks TJ appreciate you letting me tag along.
Dude you seem super knowledgeable. I was surprised to see your account isnt a year old and you haven't posted in 7 months. Are you going to make more videos? I and i bet others would check it out.
@@Ironn1bbler Yes, we have some new videos coming this next week. Life and health got in the way the past 6 months. Thanks
Kudos to Russel, the guy is great at presenting and sales stuff! The exposure that he made for the store is much more then the 60 bucks Stagg bottle that was gifted to Brewzle :)
Exposure for a SD business really means nothing. If you've never traveled to SD, then you might not realize how isolated that state is. Nothing is close to it. If you were traveling through SD that would only be a handful of good liquor stores to stop at because... well it's a state with less than a million people and the largest city is like 200k. Basically the entire state has as many people as the greater Louisville, KY area. Oddly, the population centers are on opposite sides of the state with very little in the middle portion of the state. If you are curious you can google the population density map of South Dakota. You have the Souix Falls area and the Black Hills area... and not much between.
As a resident of Sioux Falls, I can guarantee that Williquors doesn't need exposure. It's always busy there.
Stagg was sitting on the shelves in TX Father's Day weekend for MSRP. Sent the wife back in to grab a second bottle. Also, grabbed a bottle of Four Roses Barrel Strength for MSRP too. It was a good weekend.
Where in Texas 😂

Dear editor, I love the little cuts and meme's you put in there. The "You better count you days" Made me cackle so loudly my coworkers had to come over and watch. Keep up the good work.
I just just started watching you over your bourbon hunting trip brewzle. But born and raised just south of Sioux Falls, and that is the South Dakota Midwest nice for you! Love Sioux Falls, love the Midwest, plenty of great people and great prices here.
Video should be titled “Russell’s Last Day on Shift”
I'm glad to see this as someone who got into whiskey after moving away from South Dakota (near Sioux Falls) 8 years ago and will soon be moving back.
I really appreciate the honestly from the owner at Goodspirits. She's right, people need to figure out their palate before attempting to get into the allocation game. It's so easy to get frustrated early in your bourbon journey looking for allocated stuff, when there is so much good bourbon out there that's easier to find. And also so much unique stuff coming in the form of store picks that you might overlook because you're looking for Weller or Pappy or BTAC
What are some bottles you would recommend to find your palate
Agreed 👍
Russel should not have sold that Stagg😂
another enjoyable video shopping for the 'good stuff' 19:00 IMO you make the most entertaining store walkthroughs with your commentary.
how refreshing to listen to such a nice store owner just being honest.
You chose the best place to go! Super cool to see you show up in my hometown!
You should ABSOLUTELY do an Old Elk barrel pick. I have an Old Elk Wheated Barrel Pick that’s one of my all time favorite whiskies. I’m scared to drink it for fear of running out! Also, Knappogue Castle 12 is great entry to Irish Whisky. It’s aged in bourbon barrels and is phenomenal. I’ve seen it in several of your videos.
"I cant bring out the big stuff" Casually brings out a Stagg for $60..
That Boulder Spirits Cask Strength is out of this world! I live 20min from the distillery and each batch sells out in a day. If you can grab one you certainly should and give it a try, hell I'll buy it off your hands if you can find it.
Russell was absolutely solid! Great dude and seems very knowledgeable!
Insane find! There's like 4 stores near me that have multiple Staggs and the cheapest place is $200 and $400 at the most expensive
Still amazed that I watch these as I don't drink bourbon. Love your knowledge and enthusiasm. Its like an episode of Antique Road Show. Not a big fan of the commercials...but did not Fast Forward
I'm distraught after seeing you work that place out of an MSPR Stagg. Next level man.
Seems you like the Bourbon County stouts, but you passed right over the Surly Darkness bottles and cans. They are excellent
love the banging the card down clip for the $60 Stagg. Got a good belly laugh from that
I live in Aberdeen, South Dakota and when I'm in Sioux Falls I try to stop by Wiliquors and Fogie's since they're very close to each other. Two really good liquor stores in South Dakota.
Cool to see you visit! My wife and I love Wiliquors, we live pretty close to the store!
The Cherry wood stout was by far my favorite of the 2021 BCBS variants. I'm in Chicagoland so I buy them all every year.
Been extremely fortunate to snag 2 bottles of Stagg at retail of $55 each, 22B and 23B. Totally because of a relationship I’ve been building for 2-3 years.
Would love to see TJ try some Scottish / English rye. It'd be a really interesting comparison and nothing like the malty scotch. Same for Scottish grain whiskies too.
local stores holding allocated stuff for their good local customers makes sense. People who travel to grab up the high demand stuff that will never/rarely come back doesn't do anything for the store
Except when they have a UA-cam channel and they're filming in the store...free advertising
@@johng5710 does she need to pander to influencer advertising tho like she clearly has a good loyal customer base
The Widow Jane Applewood Rye is pretty good. Great nose and nice sweet rye flavor. It's nice on a cool fall night.
Love the JD barrel proof rye, the bottles I’ve had over 135 proof are amazing
I love that guys style at Fogie's and he definitely seems knowledgeable in his profession.
If you like the Goose Island BCBS don't sleep on the Surly Darkness and varients. Was above the BCBS. Firestone Walker has a magnificent barrel program to. Love the videos 1 of my favorite whiskey channels. 👍
Lots of us just died when you turned away that Pikesville Rye. Awesome Heaven Hill product that’s really difficult to find in some places
Got a lil fired up when I heard Candlebox Far Behind playing in the background 🤣
I was at Fogie’s back in July on my way back home to Indiana from a road trip to Montana. The lady that owns the place and her husband are big time in the pool cue making world. It was a really cool story she was telling me. We talked for probably 15-20 minutes and I was able to grab a JDSBBS Rye while I was there. If I lived in Sioux Falls, that would be my go to store. Went to Williquors as well while I was there but that has the big box store feel to it.
Fogies is good Williquers rewards program is good. Prices are hard to beat too.
Not sure about anyone else but the bourbon options at these stores is amazing. My local stores don't have anything near that much.
Just got my hands on a JD single barrel pick barrel proof rye at 134.5 proof. I all but finished it over a weekend by myself! $70 and it’s fantastic!
I found an Elmer T. Lee in the wild last week. Thanks for visiting Sioux Falls
*Sioux falls
I love seeing the Virtue Spirits hat you're wearing! Support the Bourbon Junkies!
Pikesville is HH and said to have been the gateway rye for the bourbon drinker! Get one! Chad and Sara with It’s Bourbon Night like it a lot!
Thanks for the email on the cask strength redwood empire. Ordered two!!!
Those goose island cherry ones are AMAZING.
I found Stagg 22A at total wine for $50 two weeks ago. Couldn’t believe it!
That Tater Bait is part of the Krogman's series that is thumbing their nose at the secondary market. All 9 MGP mashbills, single barrel cask strength picks with cartoon labels, funny names and sold at bottom shelf prices. The Maxx Profitzz rye was tremendous! There was also "Dusty Hunterzzz", "Smash Bill", "Fipperzzz", "Chuggzz", "Waxx Nippzz", "Unicorn", and "Buyy Noww!"
The cola stout goose island is fantastic! If yoy are able to drink them at room temperature, this one is great.
I’ll say one thing, you sure seem to meet some nice people in your travels!!
The Sagamore double oaked is amazing
That Goose Island Cola variant is very unique and worth a try, and the cherrywood aged one is slightly better than the normal BCBS. Keep your eyes peeled for the 2023 variants releasing on Black Friday. There is one aged 2 years in Eagle Rare barrels, one with bananas, another with several types of berries called Backyard Stout, and a few others. 6 different variants total if I'm not mistaken.
The Bananas Foster variant is tremendous!
Yes Brewzle, count your days. I'm Irish and Scottish and born and raised in Kentucky. That's triple dangerous. Drink more Islay whisky! Sláinte everyone.
Islay all the way!! Sláinte!
Brewzle Barrel Bottles. A unique bottle with a great cork top. Optional spout cork available for the consumers that want to lay it down like a barrel.
I bought a bottle of pappy 15 for 1950 and it came with 31 bottles of store pick whisky and elijah craig small batch and elijah criag barrel proof.
Finally got a E.H Taylor small batch for retail. It's OK glad I didn't pay the massive mark up. Cheers
Exactly! It’s good but not work over $50! So much better bourbon out there
I passed on a barrel proof for $230. Should I have gotten it?
That’s why I’m glad my store sells only at MSRP, got some Stagg a month ago for only $65 and Weller 12 for $65
@@BondingOverWhiskey I would have loved to pick up that bottle? What state?
@@colbyshaw2256 none of your business. JK, in North Central Texas
The cherrywood BCBS is great! One of my favorites from them.
Pikesville is, basically, the most bourbon friendly rye out there. At 51% rye it's literally the lowest rye content allowed to still be called a "rye". Your local didn't know what he was talking about when he called it "very rye". That being the case, and you being a much more "bourbon" person, that's a bottle you should pick up. It's barely a rye, it's got a nice high proof point (110), and you can usually get it somewhere close to $40.
That JD SBBP Rye is $75 at the JD distillery, which I picked up when I was there over Thanksgiving. You got a great price for that and the Stagg!
One thing since I saw Soldier Valley bourbon in the video. As a Nebraskan, their bourbon is just okay... but their vodka is the SMOOTHEST vodka I've ever had, it's like you're drinking water. Definitely worth a try if you ever make vodka drinks. I've sampled a bunch and I've never had a better one.
Perks of doing security at a liquor store is anytime Stagg or any allocated stuff comes in I get to snag it for MSRP. Never have I paid more than MSRP for anything ranging from Stagg to Weller or Blantons.
I have a 2018 goose island vanilla bourbon stout. Does it go bad or does it age pretty decently? I've been debating on drinking it or just keeping it as a shelf piece in its wood/glass case. (I got it from my old job, beer distributor. For free)
Brewzle needs to be on the bottle. That's the attraction to make sure it's what we all look for.
I had a bourbon night with some buddies and one of the bottles that I had was the Widow Jane applewood rye. None of us 7 guys liked it much, especially for the price.
Russel knew his shit. Seemed genuine and wasnt just pushing stuff.
I love williquors (Sioux falls resident here) great choice
Sagamore Barrel Select 110 proof, Pikesville 110.... amazing stuff.....
would love to see a glenn creek barrel pick! they're in frankfurt, ky and have some really cool craft stuff but almost no distribution
I might be biased as an Oklahoman but those Prairie stouts that were at the first place (saw them in the background around 10:26) are truly outstanding beers. Highly recommend, had no idea their distribution was wide enough to end up in South Dakota. They do tons of variations, bourbon barrel aged among many others, couldn't recommend strongly enough to people that enjoy stouts
Came here to post the same. Prairie stouts are excellent.
You might have just inspired me to spring for a Christmas Bomb or two this year now
Oh that Kavalan Solist sample would've been great...wish my local stores did those
I scored a bottle of Stagg Jr at a local Kroger for MSRP. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I quickly snatched it up without hesitation
You need some Widow Jane's Decadence. They finish the whisky in old maple syrup barrels. I've been on the hunt for a bottle for over a year now after trying some a buddy had.
Sagamore and Old Line are must visits when you come to Maryland!
Burning chair…
One of my favorite MGP. Put together by Dave Phinney (I think his name is). He’s the brains behind Orin swift wines - some of my favorite grape juice. Burning chair, Lip Service and another I can’t think of are his offerings…. He also has Lil Guerro which is his premium offering of bourbon..
Love burning chair, not to sweet, apples on the nose and finishes light… perhaps a little young tasting, but I find it’s a solid pour at 50ish
@Brewzle I'll gladly take you to my favorite stores if you're in the Western New York Area. I doubt there is anything in my collection that you haven't had, even though I have some good allocated whiskey. Love the hunting videos! Lotteries are right around the corner in my area. Fingers crossed!!
That Blackfork Farms is a great pour!
Let’s start off with this I am not a lover of Rye anything, but ☝🏼 there’s always an exception to the rule and here’s my exception the 13th Colony Rye is one arse kicker of an exceptional rye !
The Far North Spirits are pretty darn good. Was worth a pickup. Maybe I need to send you a sample
That’s widow Jane apple wood is one of my favorite. The apple isn’t to much like a flavored. It’s almost like you smoked your glass in apple wood
TJ you need to travel with a list of what you own AND what you've tried, I use Google keep notes for all my lists (not just burboun)
Wow lol at 16:20 I saw some rock filter bourbon...I live 10 minutes from the distillery!!
Great video as always!
For Boulder Spirits, you have to try their American Single Malt. I live in Louisville and watched your video and went to Shreck's where you got that Boulder bourbon and they didn't have any but they did have their single malt on clearance for 20. I've been into bourbon for almost 15 years and just got into Scotch and Irish this year. I already have about 12 bottles and am becoming a bit of a peat head but absolutely love sherry aged scotches both peated and non peated. Boulder American single malt is fantastic. Its verryy slightly peated but moderately sherry'd and is sooo good. Ive noticed you've been curious about scotch and their American single malt is like a near perfect segway from bourbon into scotch, in my opinion.
You HAVE to get the Sagamore DO. I am not a rye fan. I picked up a bottle and it was gone in a couple weeks.
Wow a liquor establishment giving out samples of the whiskey they sell? SOLD!!! What a great idea!!!! Wait a sec, Jim Beam comes out with flavoured spirits?
Lol! Stagg Jr is my crack bottle. i am currently down to my last two and haven't been able to find any for more than a year here in NC. Looks like i need to travel more
I’ve been waiting all week for this!
Old grand 114 is on sale in Cincinnati area right now,$19.99
I’m a big fan of the widow Jane applewood, one of my favorite ryes
My local store and yes Russell is very nice and helpful I see him at least twice a week
Did he ever sell you a Stagg at MSRP?
For your east coast tour, Va is ABC controlled so no allocated unless you happen to be in a store when a drop happens. They're not frequent but contain the usual, Blantons, EHT, & ER10.
Crazy. I went to MD to get stuff we don't get in Va. I am able to run to drops so obtained 9 Blantons this year. I understand they're a fortune in Md. Here, it's Va or NEx pricing. They make good gifts to those who like BT. Me, I'm a WT fan since the late 70s.@@steveverdoo1859
Got the same bottle of Stagg today as a Christmas gift here in LA. sells for $297 here.
This 9 is delicious!!! And locally run 65ish... So you cannot beat the price.
Funny you mention Weller 107, it's allocated and dropping tomorrow morning so i will try to get some. People are already lining up tho
10:49 You missed out on sampling the "Kavalan solist Ex Bourbon cask" that stuff would blow your mind.
I stopped into a store tonight and saw a Jack Single Barrel Barrel-Proof Rye and did not buy it. Kicking myself for it now, but they had one more Rare Breed barrel pick and a Remus pick that I had to try. For some reason it wasn't clicking in my head how hard that rye is to find.
Jacob’s pardon is an interesting pour, gaining some traction recently.
I found bottles of blackened several stores in Michigan the Metallica whiskey
The Burning Chair is really good in cask strength.
Ain’t no way, I’ll be in Sioux Falls tomorrow, I’ll have to check some of these out!
More bourbon friendly.. Pikesville is as bourbon friendly of a rye as you can get! While still being able to legally call it a rye, It’s damn good too!
Hey I live there! Cool to see some of these places that I know.
Russell just lost his job 😂😂 Nice guy tho for sure
For selling a bottle that was in the system and rang up?
