I've been thinking about sharing my thoughts on travel with you for a little while. I have a complicated relationship with the concept of travel sometimes, especially organized tourism - despite the obvious value it can bring to people, it has aspects that bug me. So I've tried to express *some* of that in this video. Hope you enjoy the adventure 🏔🚜

You should chalk your tires before you go to sleep in you vehicle.
AKA buy wheel chalks or put large rocks/wood in front of and behind each tire so if for some reason your emergency brake gives out you don't slowly go rolling off the side of a mountain while inside asleep. ( I hear those vehicles can be unreliable that's why I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser.) haha ;)

My dear Eva, I‘m bawling here full of joy and sadness at once. My mother came from that area, her childhood house looks exactly like that house in the video and I remember spending summers there during my childhood in the 70es and 80es, riding on donkeys and playing with my cousins.
My parents met in Istanbul and immigrated to Germany in 1972 so I was born in Berlin. But this magic place full of beauty and history, filled with stories of lives, heart opening nature, fındık and çay is and has always been in my heart.
I lost my beloved and wonderful Anne a few years ago and I miss her every day. Seeing the places she grew up at makes me melancholic and wakes all my senses. She was quite adventurous as well, I know she would‘ve loved the way you live…
Lots of love from Berlin… ♥️

      Selam Selda.
It's unbelievable after reading your comment, I share similar experiences as you. And what is so remarkable is that I have never visited Turkey as im from Australia born and raised here, but my mother who passed away 4 years ago, would always tell me about her childhood and how she grew up in these beautiful green villages, and how they used to herd the animals, collect their firewood and bake their bread. I won't lie, I did also cry seeing this video cause it reminded me of my mum. May they rest in peace, God willing I want to travel to those places and experience first-hand my mum's village, but I don't know if I can pull through, cause I know im going to be an emotional wreck.

"There are places in the world where the feeling of being there is much more powerful than what your eyes get to see". What a profound truth that is. Felt it for myself one day on an overlook above Navajo Monument in Arizona. It was beautiful but not the most beautiful place I had seen on that trip, but it brought me to my knees with tears in my eyes for reasons I can only guess at. So yes, that statement is profoundly and literally true.

I think her videos are interesting but she stresses how she's all ALONE (like in the title here). But, it just doesn't seem that's true in the filming. For example, I've only watched up to the 7 min mark in this one. Look at, 6:38 she gets in her car to drive off then gets out and runs to the camera at 6:45 and then the camera is showing her drive off at 6:50. I've seen a lot of shots like that. So, I'm kind of thinking she brings a camera crew. I don't really care if she's alone or not, but just that she's always making such a point of it, seems a bit off.

Awwww, I love you Eva! You are so adventurous and brave. I know you are human, with fears and shortcomings like all of us, but you press on to rise above that, which is what makes you so wonderful to watch. (I hope that is taken positively, as I mean it that way.) And I LOVE when Odyssey was MUDDY!
That is when a vehicle looks the most beautiful... when it is covered in mud! :-)
I actually paused the video to write that, and then after writing I started it again and heard what you said about how you love it, and how it represents serendipity....yes!
And for me, it means that you (and your vehicle...in this case, Odyssey...) are really LIVING!
You are getting out there, off the beaten track, not worrying so much about how things LOOK, but seeking more for how things ARE, how things FEEL...how things can BE.
Real life is messy; enjoy it!
And yes, you might not see everything, as you said, but you might just see enough...and maybe that "enough" is more meaningful... in other words, you might not get to see all that you WANT, but you will see all that you NEED, and it never was about getting everything that you wanted, but about experiencing all that you NEED.
Keep going girl. You rock. :) (And yes, I loved the different take on your narration - all the thoughts on your travels. I hope to see more! Great work!)

I think it may have been Kara & Nate since they got me into travel UA-cam, but they said that there's a difference between travelling and taking a vacation. What most people do when they travel is actually just take a vacation. It's nice to take a break & get away from it all, and that's what those tour companies & all-inclusive resorts are for. But it's a different, and more rewarding experience to actually travel.

Iran and Lebanon have snowfall every year. I'm not sure about the other countries in the middle east. Likewise, perception about India is, it's very hot. A lot of people from other countries are just as surprised to know that it snows in india

Transfer your philosophical thoughts to life as one big journey and one has the answer to the big question. "A willingness to take risks and learn and explore. Don't be afraid of travelling boldly to carve your own path. Don't worry about not seeing everything. You might just see enough and maybe that enough is even more meaningful". It gives me a chill. Thanks Eva.

You're so brave and courageous! This was one of my favorite videos that you've made because it's truly raw.
    No specieal effects needed.
    No "picture perfect" destinations.
Simply just curiousty mixed with adventure and courage which produced the raw, roller-coaster emotions that came through the camera lens.

    Hi Eva,
You're a brave girl , but living an incredible life so good for you! As a TD5 owner of almost 15 years, I can give you some tips on keeping the "Deefer" on the road...though you've probably heard them all! Keep the fuel tank at least 1/4 full , the pump is in there and relies on fuel to keep it cool and lubricated! Carry a spare crank angle sensor and plug with some wire! DOn't forget you have 2 oil filters...one normal and a "spinning" rotor that removes super fine dirt from the oil. These engines are bullet proof , but just need to keep an eye on a few things! Safe travels and best wishes.
    Gregg.

I’m over 60 (solo female adventurer) and have been car camping for many many years having given up a camper van in favour of a more stealthy camper … maps and satellite systems are no fun at all
… sometimes I use a two pence guide … if flipped and it’s heads I turn right, if tails I turn left … this has brought me much joy and fun and wonderful unexpected places … synchronicity
…. Sometimes I use heads for left and tails for right … but stick to one key until a destination is found …. More random this way perhaps ?
Took me two days to drive from Madrid (Spain) to Castelo Branco (Portugal) during the summer … (a four hour drive) but it was an amazing, beautiful, scenic journey !
Life is full of synchronicities if we only take the time to see them …
    Have a great onward journey … 🙏☘️😘

Beautiful Eva, you make your content real, tangible and more than a simple UA-cam video. That's what I call the sensation of not being just a spectator but also feel that we're travelling with you.
