Poulan Pro Won't Accelerate on Slopes (My Fix)

- In this video made after I changed my drive belt, I discovered my tractor was still having the issue of refusing to move on the smallest slopes.
I will show you what fixed my tractor and how you can get to the part to do a visual inspection.
If this video does not help you and you still have an issue, PLEASE leave a comment in the description so I can see if I can help.
I have additional plans for videos that include converting my tractor to run PROPERLY on e85, as well as possibly removing and dissasembling the transaxle to see how the CVT works internally.

Gonna give it a shot. Thanks for the video!
Listen you may need a new belt. If your problem continuously gets worse just replace the belt after making sure the pulley can move freely, and checking the side to side play of the cvt pulley on the shaft. You can also replace the CVT pulley. The only belt I'd use if you are changing the CVT belt is gt 37501 little pricey at around 50. I wouldn't recommend trying to find an aftermarket belt.. The drive belt has to come off to change the CVT belt., Which I have a video on, good luck.
Hey very helpful thanks but I have to replace the complete pulley how do I do that.
Thanks for the info, what's the name of the lube you used
I did that an worked for awhile ,replaced the cvt no help. Had a new be
T laying around, matched them up the old belt was worn about. A 1/4 inch an was bright an shiny on the sides put new belt on an it works ,
I have a poulan riding tractor that makes a noise only when the break is released. Could you give me a run down on how to fix it please? Thank you
Do you have a part number for that clutch assembly ?????????? Mine has shattered.
How do you but trans fluid ina sealed trans on a a
I've got the same poulan 19/42 and my reverse was slow and this helped alot. Now I need to figure out where to lube the linkage because it's sticky when i use reverse. Sometimes I have to put my foot under the forward peddle and pull on it to get it out of reverse. Can you tell me where to lube the linkage at.?? Thanks for the video!
Tractors gone, sorry
@@mechanicallycreative9788 riding mower we are back up but will not go forward
I replaced the drive belt but still having problems. It seems when I put my foot under the brake and push it in the opposite direction of the brake I can drive normally. But if I don’t do that I have no power. It’s as if the brake is being slightly applied enough to loosen the drive belt to not work. I cleaned all the grass from underneath inside to stop anything from stopping the brake from completely releasing. I need help!!!!! PLEASE
The brake lever is probably stuck, take off the rear wheel and you should see the break lever on the side of the transmission, move it back and forth to free it up.
Could it also be a bad belt, I’m gonna try it next time I have the time
These things are turds I changed the belt too later. Happy I sold the turd and bought a 445.
Mines was a worn beltn
I have same cvt in my poulon pro ppa19 42
Hey check that pulley it should not wobble to much on the shaft. You can buy the pulley. Also check the CVT belt it could be horribly stretched. Mine is being changed today. If you need the belt it is a gt37401, about 50 bucks. The drive belt has to come off first.
@@mechanicallycreative9788 thank for the info
@@jeremiesanders7620 Yeah learned a bit more the last year. Let me know if you need any help.
@@mechanicallycreative9788 ok thanks will do 👍😁
currently have no forward reverse seems fine any thoughts?
Give me a minute
Cvt pulley coming up and down? CVT belt good? Look at rod from petal to trans and make sure its working. You can pull the battery off and black tray to observe if the CVT pulley is spinning adequately or if CVT bely slipping alot. You can start the tractor using jumper wires hooked from the battery to the wires on the tractor with parking brake set. Turn the tractor on then remove jumpers, cover the loose red copper terminal or make sure it doesn't touch anything on the tractor, you don't want to short it as that's how the alternator charges as well. It may be easier to see the rod I'm talking about from under the seat. You can then test moving backward and see if the belts seem to be spinning as well when forward engages, or if it does at all. Perhaps it has an adjustment. So CVT pulley should move up when pulled on. Belt on CVT should spin and open up as speed increases, the CVT belt could be so worn that it only works in the direction you least often use.
I looked some more it appears there is spring over where the rod connects make sure it's intact. If all else fails, forwards usually drops out first on hydrostats, but I don't know all the internals of these CVT"s as they are relatively new. Do you feel nothing? And is reverse weak. Or does it seem like it wants to move but won't?
@@mechanicallycreative9788 there seems to be the slightest of wear in the center of the ribs on the belt. As well as bearings being a bit sloppy still intact but sloppy however I’m not sure what new tolerance was
@@mechanicallycreative9788 sometimes it’ll lunge get 8ft and stop with some resistance in the pedal at times.
I don't have any like that one
Yes yes
.
After replacing belts that didn’t do a think couple squirts of wd40 an it was good to go
How can you be that old and not know how to pronounce Poulan? It's like Poland, but without the D. Glad I've never had that particular problem, but mine is a 46" cut and looks nothing like that under the battery box. Under my box is just the hydrostatic transmission and fan. Lifting out the battery box does make my belt much easier to change and I can't figure out why most videos show folks trying to change them from underneath. If you have big hands like I do, going in from underneath simply isn't an option except for work on the front pulley and the plastic guide pulleys/tensioner pully in the center.
The same way you don't get that I'm insulting their crappy lawnmowers by childishly calling them pooland.
@@mechanicallycreative9788 Well, my so-called "crappy" one is now on it's 14th season and doing just fine, lol.
