I would really love a league start video of this build and how to make the transition towards a more endgame set up. Good video, I think you convinced me to make this my build for necropolis haha
i just set this up, but i didn't like how Doryani's felt so i switched to Fourth Vow and now I love it. Less damage, but it's perfect for what I do and I feel incredibly tanky with Mahuxotl's and 4thVow together with my other defensive layers! overall cool build, thanks for the inspiration to give it a try!
Fourth Vow's pretty good, and by dropping Doryani, you don't really need to do any of the weird resistance reduction stuff, either. That frees up a lot of gearing pressure elsewhere!
I am interesting in this for next league. What do you believe the impact of not having the primalist ascendancy will be? Does the build lose out on anything else from the league that might make or break the build?
Amazing and fun build, i'm following exactly your guide! I do have a question too: How can you have 3 projectile firing? I do have only 2. And i have the passive Attack Mastery for firing another projectile AND the gauntlets that have the implicit Non-Vaal strike skills target an additional enemy. What i'm missing? On a normal lightning strike it does increment the projectiles, but not on this one. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Glad you like it! As for the projectiles, strikes aren't projectiles. Strikes are strikes! So you're getting an extra strike and an extra projectile. You'll need more projectiles in order to fire more projectiles!
@@PathofEvening Thank you for the answer! In the end i realized i needed fan of blades and now the build it's playing super smooth and fun. LS of arcing is way smoother and fun than normal LS!!
Hi there thanks for the guide I will try to build this for next league. If I really wanted to MF with it, what items would I swap out? The amulet for a simplex one? A Kalandra ring to mirror a nice ventors? Swap the boots for the usual Goldwyrm?
Thanks for the video. I like this channel. I would like to see your take on hexblast miner or viper strike of the mamba. You focus on defences a lot witch I like 👍
Hmmm not sure I love it. I've played a pretty similar character before and I'm not super sure what content this type of build really succeeds at. It's too slow to be an amazing mapper, and requires too much gear to get online for something like HCSSF. It might shine in HC trade, but I don't really think anyone plays that plus your phys max hit is too low. Realistically, you don't have the damage for deep delve and probably not enough damage for something like Feared or Void map farming as well. Sure you can farm Simulacrum, but I mean most builds can do that on a much smaller budget. In the end I think something like LA or TS kind of just do the same thing but better, that's mostly just because bow skills are overturned. Regardless, it's still probably the second strongest "melee" build behind BoneZone so there is that for sure.
There are versions of this build that get Ailment Immunity through other means (Stormshroud and a Bog Moss Flask, for example) and anoint Panopticon instead. They would also just use regular LS, and that will deal a lot more damage for doing content like Feared rotas, but it sacrifices some mapping QoL.
FR PF is more expensive to get up and running, and it has a much less smooth playstyle. With that being said, they're pretty comparable at high investment, but Pathfinder always has an advantage defensively due to being able to have permanent Progenesis and life flask uptime. It is harder on your wrists, though.
@@PathofEvening thank you for the quick answer. I guess patch note will be what makes my mind in the end if there is any buff/nerf. With changes to quality, LS could be slightly better. Keep the good work up and good luck on league start
Slayer is very good, but without the ability to Flesh and Flame Master of Metal at the very start of the league, nah. At this point in the league, probably!
Hopefully we'll be able to put together a league start version of LS Champ for Necropolis, it's just a matter of whether we have enough time between now and then. Making a somewhat-different version of this build as a second or third build in next league is also a possibility!
Is it worth used the watchers eye with damage penetration on this build? What’s is the best way to get/craft a descent claw to start the build? I already have a fracture claw with t1 light damage damage (15-313). Loved the build. Thanks
Absolutely, elemental penetration works really well. What doesn't work is lowering enemy Lightning resistance, since their Light Res is EXACTLY the same as yours. For making a weapon, the most basic approach is to use Deafening Essences of Zeal on a T1 Fractured Lightning Base until you're happy with the suffixes, then craft Attacks Cannot Be Evaded. That's the budget approach. For a higher-end weapon, you'll want to spam Essences until you get a t1 Crit modifier and an empty suffix & prefix, then lock suffixes, use the Harvest bench to Add Crit/Remove mod. If the Crit mod is good (t3+), proceed, otherwise start over. Once you're set there, lock suffixes and use a Veiled Orb, block physical prefixes and unveil. Hope for % Increased Lightning Damage, but Attacks Penetrate % Ele Resistances is good, too. Then craft Attacks Cannot Be Evaded, and you're good. Depending on your luck with the Harvest bench, this can get expensive.
@@PathofEvening thanks for the help! Why cannot be evaded is so good? I mean is it mandatory? Can I craft instead pen, light damag? Can I fit a precision gem level 1 as well? My prismatic eye has ele pen and multiplier (precision). Or should I try to get the watchers eye like yours? Thanks for the help! Really appreciate it.
If you don't have Cannot Be Evaded, then your attacks *can* be evaded, and you don't have that much accuracy in the build, so you will lose like 10-15% of your total damage. Your Watcher's Eye sounds good, fitting in Precision can definitely work!
We're definitely interested in looking at this build again in Patch 3.24 once we know more about the Necropolis crafting system, to see if it has any huge benefits like penetrating monster resistances. Losing Charms and TWWT is okay, actually. They didn't provide functionality to the build, just extra power on top of the existing infrastructure. As for Patch 3.24 changes, surprisingly there is only one that affects this build in a substantial way: The nerf to elemental resistance flasks. Ruby Flask will grant Fire Res & Maximum Fire Res, but not Fire damage reduction. This is a nerf, but it's a nerf to some very overpowered defenses, so it probably isn't going to meaningfully affect the build. The main change is that it means you won't need as many sources of + Maximum Fire Resistance, and that was really the only thing we were using Charms and TWWT to accomplish, so losing out on those is okay. You will need to find another source of Reflect Immunity (Awakened Ele Damage with Attacks will work) or stop running Ele Reflect maps until you do.
The point in the tree “Tempered by War” doesn’t exist anymore. How bad this affected the tankless of the build? What else can we do to get less damage? I feel one there is a “ice pool” on the floor from simulacrum the dot kill almost in 2 seconds. Thanks
Tempered By War is granted by using a Lethal Pride with the Rakiata tag. It converts any Keystone Passives in the radius. It's pretty much required for this build to work.
Hey mate, idk if I missed it. How do people trigger adrenaline on this build? First I thought swapping double Midnight Bargain, but it doesn't seem like. Is it Blood Rage while being out of combat?
Pretty much, yeah. It's a great offensive buff, but it's also an insane defensive layer, so depending on the content and how much you hate dying, you can just keep it available as a defensive lifeline.
Not this specific setup, since it requires a unique that's from the Trialmaster fight, but LS Champion is an excellent league starter, and you can transition out of that and into this pretty easily.
It took down ubers pretty easily, so yes, but not all T17's are the same. Some mods are absolutely brutal, and others are trivial. You can spend a LOT of chaos rolling t17's for good mods. Some of this can be affected by your atlas passive tree (e.g., Tormented Spirit mods are insane, but get turned into buffs if you take Speaker of the Dead), as well.
Unfortunately not. We wanted to, and LS Champ is a viable starter, but we didn't have enough time before Necropolis League launch to get a build guide up to a level we felt good with. This still works well as a second build of a league, or something to transition out of a Steel Champ into. The only loss from Affliction League is charms that granted more Max Fire Res, and that's not a huge deal. It probably gets compensated for by some cool Necropolis mods!
Does the Aul's amulet have to be wrath or just a nice dmg boost? because there are no Wrath currently on necro HC and if its worth to go for determination or grace instead?
It would take substantial changes. Smite doesn't work with a claw, so Nightblade won't support it and all the claw/dagger/Elusive nodes won't have any impact.
The max Fire res is from Purity of Fire and charms (which were removed), but the change to Ruby Flask pretty much covers the missing max Fire res from charms. The max Chaos res comes from one of the keystones on the Shield: Divine Flesh.
Smite requires a Sword/Axe/Mace/Sceptre, so it wouldn't work with a claw or dagger, or any of the Nightblade/Elusive components of this build. You probably could make a Smite build work with Mahuxotl's & Doryani's Prototype, but the Armour stacker Smite build that dual-wields Replica Dreamfeathers seems like it's already really well established (although it can be expensive).
I am probably missing something entirely, but why isnt this ever played on a marauder? Is there something that champ brings that i am missing or is it just QOL?
You probably could run this as a Jugg build, but the starting position in the tree as Marauder is awful, and you're not scaling Accuracy at all, so it just really can't compete with Champ.
@@PathofEvening It would be cool if you revisit this build in 3.25 and see if it could be adjusted and playable without Mahuxotl, or see if the Vaal Pact change isn't the end of this build. I really want to try some tanky lightning strike of arcing build in 3.25, but I'm nowhere near as experienced player, so a new guide would be very welcome, if you're interested in doing it, of course.
Start with an Imperial Claw that has Fractured T1 Lightning Damage. Use Perfect Fossils to get the quality up to 28% before doing anything else. If you need to enchant Crit later, you want that quality at 28%. If you don't need a Crit enchant and you want to use an AS enchant, then 24% quality is all you need, but in 3.24 Perfect Fossils will be the only way to increase the quality of a weapon without corrupting it, so you have to do this first. Once that's taken care of, slam the weapon with Deafening Essences of Zeal until you get a high-tier Crit mod, either Crit Multi or Crit Chance. At this point, if you have any other suffixes, you will need to annul them off. If you annul off the AS or the Crit, go back to slamming Zeals. Once you have a weapon that just has AS and Crit as the two suffixes, craft Lock Suffixes and use the Harvest bench to craft Add Crit, Remove Random Modifier. This will cost a ton of lifeforce, including a Sacred Crystallised Lifeforce. If the new Crit mod was high-tier, then you're good to proceed. If it's low-tier, you may want to start over with slamming Essences, or you can finish the weapon and sell it off to try and recoup some of the cost. If you have any prefix modifiers other than the Fractured T1 Lightning Damage, lock suffixes and Scour to remove them. Once you're down to a 1-prefix weapon with 3 good suffixes, craft Lock Suffixes again and hit it with a Veiled Orb. Craft % Increased Physical Damage on the weapon to block as many Veiled mods as possible, then unveil and hope for Increased Lightning Damage (best) or Attacks With This Weapon Penetrate Elemental Resistances (good). If you get either, craft Hits Cannot Be Evaded, and you're done. If you get neither, Lock Suffixes, Scour, Lock Suffixes, hit it with a Veiled Orb, and repeat until your prefixes are good. It's a fairly long and expensive craft. You can absolutely set a currency tab on fire making a high-level LS claw, but the end result is pretty nice.
@@PathofEvening thank you so much for the prompt reply sir. I dont understand half of the things you said but im going to go on craft of exile to try it out. I really want to play this in 3.24.
The reason why I am asking this is we cant craft "Hits cant be evaded" using the grave. Is this mod compulsory meaning we have to use the old way of crafting? Thank you sir
@@leonardlaw4676 This is a strategy for crafting that weapon just using old methods. You probably can make a comparable 5-mod weapon with the graveyard that would work pretty well, and then craft Hits Cannot Be Evaded on afterward, but that does take a lot of setup. Hits Cannot Be Evaded is super important. You're not hit-capped without it, so you'll lose around 10-15% of your damage if you don't have it.
Brother i have a question, how do you manage to run purity of fire, determination and grace?I simply cannot squeze an extra aura,am i missing something?I do not have enough reservation efficiency to fit in all 3 (Purity of fire, deter, grace)
Make sure you have Mana Reservation Efficiency on your helm as an implicit, Level 3 Enlighten linked to your main auras, and an Aul's Uprising. Aul's Uprising that grants Wrath Has No Reservation costs about 10 Divines right now, but a Grace version only costs about 4, so that can save you a bit of currency for a slightly-weaker version. Just be sure to swap your skill gems around to compensate.
@@PathofEvening the thing is i bought the aul,and the the dilemma is the auras. My helmet has a 7 percent mana reserve with a level 3 enlighten.i think i might anoint it with 3 silver oils to fix the problem
You can save a lot of currency by just using a Perseverance belt initially. That will add a ton of damage and free Onslaught for like 1c. You can probably get one with decent corrupted modifiers for cheap just because it's such a common unique, and basically only useful for Champion builds. Aul's Uprising is super strong, it adds a lot of stat budget and helps with mana reservation. A Wrath or Determination one will be expensive, 10+ Divines, but a Grace Aul's is like 3-5 Divines, and that will work on a budget. The stats aren't as good, but it will get you up and running. A "bad" Ventor's Gamble with positive Fire Res and Negative Light Res (potentially two of them) will work, and you can probably find decent ones (non-negative Quant/Rarity) for just a few chaos. Non-awakened support gems will all work, as will regular LS, or non-Vaal LS. You can upgrade into the others once you have the currency, if you're enjoying the playstyle and want to keep progressing the build.
@@PathofEvening I played ls before when ls raider was "meta" and really enjoyed it. My goal with the currency I have is get the build to a similar point of league starter which I've got to 800k hit dps, 110k ele hit, 90k ehp (it's a life/str stacker hexblast), just kinda done with the build, it did what I wanted it to, but with no way to sustain other than running away and waiting for 2s, it's tankiness is meh when ya clearing T17s
@@PathofEvening I'm guessing, the ventors are pretty good because the negative lightning can't really be obtained on any other rings and since we don't need cold res, we just need a high fire res roll. What would a rare ring look like, and would it even be worth losing the negative lightning res?
Use a base with Fractured Life, use Essences to roll Suffixes until they're good. This can take a while. Use Eldritch Annuls to clean prefixes if needed. Lock suffixes and use a Veiled Orb. Craft mana to block, then unveil +2 to Level of Socketed AoE Gems. Repeat if you don't get it. Once you do, craft the desired prefix.
Check your Config tab for Everlasting Sacrifice and make sure it is toggled on. This is a recent addition to PoB, we previously had to add it by putting the line "+5% to All Maximum Resistances" in the Custom Modifiers window, but it is a checkbox option now.
If you attack until you overcap your ES, you will gain the buff Everlasting Sacrifice, which increases All Maximum Resistances, including Chaos, by 5%. It only lasts 5 seconds, but you leech enough to easily maintain 100% uptime.
League starting as LS Champ is very doable. Farming Mahuxotl's Machination from the Trialmaster in SSF might be kind of painful, but that's probably the hardest part of getting this build set up in SSF.
Mahuxotl's Machination is farmable but very RNG ( first you need trailmaster AND he needs to drop it) wich chances are ... low if you ok to farm ultimatum for most of your progression - prob you will be fine still RNG can screw you over ( my friend has as his last chelenge deafet trailmaster and he think about doing endgame grind cuz how unlucky with spawns he is thou here we talk t16)
Pretty close, at least. The only change that affects it is the nerf to resistance flasks, which were changed from granting less damage taken from that element to increased max res for it. This build got its max fire res up into the high 80's using Charms, which are being removed, so the reworked Ruby Flask will get your Fire Res back to the high 80's again. You lose out on the reduced Fire damage taken, but that was kind of overkill. It definitely still works. Not strictly a league starter since this version requires some uniques that won't be available day 1, but you can league start LS Champ and transition into this pretty easily, and it will definitely still rock.
Seems absurd to put this much currency into a build that can just do maps well.... If I'm dropping this much into a build it better be able to handle Ubers. Seems like such a waste when you can run a normal LS build that can handle maps just as well for a fraction of the cost.
This build clears Ubers. Just deathless'ed Uber Eater & Exarch, got a pair of fat 1c uniques out of the deal. You'll want to switch to regular LS for more single target damage, but that's it.
That delay effect you're using on your voice sound really makes it hard to watch using headphones it's phasing out and produces an artifact that has a really annoying nazal tone
I would really love a league start video of this build and how to make the transition towards a more endgame set up. Good video, I think you convinced me to make this my build for necropolis haha

That could work.
I am probably missing something entirely, but why isnt this ever played on a marauder? Is there something that champ brings that i am missing or is it just QOL?
You probably could run this as a Jugg build, but the starting position in the tree as Marauder is awful, and you're not scaling Accuracy at all, so it just really can't compete with Champ.
isnt it better to start roa and swap into hateforge tho? since u going for small maps
That's a completely different build, and Hateforge is wildly more expensive than Mahuxotl's Machination.
Is it possible to play this build or change it to be playable in 3.25? They changed the Vaal Pact and Mahuxotl's Machination is dead apparently?
Worth testing since LS is partially a melee skill. Current verdict: MAYBE.
Sorry my crafting knowledge is terrible. Could I olease ask how would you craft this claw in the new league? Thank you sir
@@PathofEvening Will you be using the graves to craft this claw? Or are you playing something else?
That should definitely fix it.
Any1 got a good tip for "immunity to corrupted blood" ?
Flask suffix or corrupted rare jewel, ideally.
@@PathofEvening Cheers, but i got no room for a rare jewel, and it wont work on flasks with mageblood will it - since it needs actication?
if i wanted to get this going on a 30div budget, how would that look?
Probably pretty good.
@@PathofEvening what would you suggest as core items to get going aside from chest and shield
What would a rare ring look like, and would it even be worth losing the negative lightning res?
did this survive patch notes?
Yup!
how do i craft +2 aoe gloves and helm
Use a base with Fractured Life, use Essences to roll Suffixes until they're good. This can take a while.
Use Eldritch Annuls to clean prefixes if needed. Lock suffixes and use a Veiled Orb. Craft mana to block, then unveil +2 to Level of Socketed AoE Gems. Repeat if you don't get it.
Once you do, craft the desired prefix.
@@PathofEvening did they remove veiled chaos orb?
Yup, it's Veiled Orb now. It's the old Aisling slam, but itemized and rare.
on your pob you have Chaos res at 85% how??? i can only get 80% max
Check your Config tab for Everlasting Sacrifice and make sure it is toggled on.
This is a recent addition to PoB, we previously had to add it by putting the line "+5% to All Maximum Resistances" in the Custom Modifiers window, but it is a checkbox option now.
@@PathofEvening sorry i mean how do you get to 85% max Chaos res? i cant find anyway to raise it higher than 80 in game.
If you attack until you overcap your ES, you will gain the buff Everlasting Sacrifice, which increases All Maximum Resistances, including Chaos, by 5%. It only lasts 5 seconds, but you leech enough to easily maintain 100% uptime.
Can i league start on SSF?
League starting as LS Champ is very doable. Farming Mahuxotl's Machination from the Trialmaster in SSF might be kind of painful, but that's probably the hardest part of getting this build set up in SSF.
Mahuxotl's Machination is farmable but very RNG ( first you need trailmaster AND he needs to drop it) wich chances are ... low if you ok to farm ultimatum for most of your progression - prob you will be fine still RNG can screw you over ( my friend has as his last chelenge deafet trailmaster and he think about doing endgame grind cuz how unlucky with spawns he is thou here we talk t16)
i guess this will be my build for my next league, kinda bored of DD
Champion is great at league start. They're so tanky, and LS combines a lot of the best aspects of melee & ranged!
Is this build untouched for necropolis ?
It’s just you
Zero delay effects are added in processing the audio. Your headset software is probably taking control of sound levels and adjusting automatically.
Sounds fine
Whatchu smoking there's no delay effect
