- MAYWEATHER VS. CANELO - ranked as the highest-grossing pay-per-view of all time, with nearly $150 million in U.S. pay-per-view revenue reported to date. The news was out today, in conjunction with event promoters Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions.
The SHOWTIME PPV presentation of THE ONE surpassed the previous record of $136 million generated by Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing event in 2007.
Preliminary reports from distributors show pay-per-view buys projected to be 2.2 million. While not fully reported from all distributors, the total buys could challenge the existing record of 2.48 million pay-per-view buys set by De La Hoya vs. Mayweather. The initial report immediately following the De La Hoya vs. Mayweather event in 2007 was 2.15. THE ONE has already exceeded the previous #2 event, the infamous World Heavyweight Championship bout between Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson II (1.95 million, 1997). - Спорт
A light heavyweight wants to fight a welterweight, this is disgraceful , why dont you move up to cruiserweight and fight a David Haye...Every fighter is obsessed with Floyd and beating him or that paycheck... absolutely pathetic ... Floyd probably whips his ass at 160 anyway.
Lol Floyd can't even make 154 why would he fight at 160 lol people are stupid
He fought mad ppl at 154 lmaooo wtf you talking about
@@mgtowlifeseasyifyoutry1274 he didn't weigh 154
@@mgtowlifeseasyifyoutry1274
He beat people at that weight.
Not that he was on that weight.
Sugar Ray Robinson was 157 when he took on light heavyweight champion who was 173 16 lb gave up and would have won if it wasn't for the heat exhaustion... Mayweather has no excuse
@@unclerobertboxing
It's not that's It's an excuse.
It's the fact he's opponents get a handicap already with him being outta his prime and his brittle hands preventing him from going all out.
He's already fought people 10 pounds heavier and won.
But his opponents shouldn't of been overweight in the first place when they fought.
Castillo was 10 pounds over when they've fought both times, Canelo was over 10 pounds, and so were other fighters. He could've charged them money, but he didn't make a contract that penalized overweight.
You know you're great when people want you to fight someone that's in 3 weight classes above you.
Kay D
Exactly
Dude is the only boxer who keeps kicking guys who are 20 years younger than him, give the dude respect, he's a legend.
I remember this. Floyd would never lol that was a loss for sure Floyd aint dumb
"There might not be no punch thrown cause that stand here, I'm walking to you like this too" LMFAO. OMG. Just imagine these two in the ring together. All they gonna be doin is hopping around with their shoulder in front of their face just staring at each other's shoulder trying to see who got the biggest shoulder. It would be a shoulder match. Who would win?
Lol😁😂😂😂
The A side will win by default ez
Has everyone failed to notice the guy at the end trying to be Ellie sechbach haha
Thats fantastic...now fight Adonis Stevenson
Even at 49 years old and all of his hair turned grey, Bernard Hopkins makes Mayweather shit in his pants! Mayweather would do anything to avoid tangling with the great Bernard Hopkins!
he is a fuckin light heavy weight u dumb ass ...he comes in to fights 185, mayweather woke up the day of his last fight at 146...would you fight a light heavyweight if u can barely make 150?
Even at 50 Bernard would make short work of Mayweather,Mayweather would not even have a chance to beat Bernard Hopkins
BlackKlitschko Deutschland
FLOYMAYWEATHER DUCKS AGAIN
kakec4rmakron Please. Floyd went after little Marquez and did the same thing. Floyd sure didn't do that with Pac though did he? Even after Pac beat Marquez and they were the same weight. Floyd will fight anyone at any weight lower or higher than his own as long as they don't pose a stylistic threat to him.
Let it go Bernard Hopkins don't get the shit beat out you
lmao
hopkins is a legend and one of my all time favs!
"cause that stance here...im walking to you like that too" lmmfao0o0o0o00oo00o0o shit had me dyin
He's seems very smart
Why don't you come down to 147 since you are the one calling for the fight. He doesn't need you Bernard. You looking stupid!!
Now that i think about it..... I would LOVE to see that fight!
LMAO - "Bernard will fight anyone" .......that's comedy gold right there : )
u must b talkin bout in the first few rounds bcz he donminated every opponent in his fights, dont mastter bout getting tha knowckout all the time its bout winnin on pionts and gettin yo hand raised
Bernard why don't you fight one of the Klitschko brothers instead of picking on a smaller man ? How about that ?
cj .original 😀
Money
Pay day
weight does matter but I'd love to see them fight
Living Legend master at his craft Bernard Hopkins !
HOPKINS WOULD ACTUALLY BEAT FLOYD,, 100%
I doubt it, floyd ain't easy to hit and bhop ain't that fast and his timing ain't as good as floyd, this man got knocked out the ring by a nobody
@@gatorflash123 When Hopkins was like 50 years old dude Hopkins in his prime was a stud even James Toney didn’t want to fight
This reporter has the personality of a cardboard box.
This would be *EPIC*
i think it will be good to see a fight between those two..
I like his name: "Bernard Hopkins" ...sounds so cool.
Wow!!! This guy is amazing!!! He said he'd do it in a heartbeat!! This is why he is a great fighter!!
Even Mike Tyson want to fight Floyd damn !
It would be interesting that's for sure
Personally I wish bernard would get in the ring with either of the klitschko brothers. This is the type of fight his fans would love to see.
maywheather fought mosely when he was the #1 ranked welterweight in the world, ligetimate champion of 147, the biggest win of his career over margorito, and mosely looked amazing against margorito after margorito beat down cotto by over working him.
shane never looked this good in years.
I had the exact same feeling that bhop was jealous when I seen the way he was looking at him
You raise a very valid point. And from reading your other exchanges here, I think that you're informed enough to have a relevant opinion on the matter. However, there are some points that I want to put out there. First off, yes, Floyd does have the right to cap off the weight class that he wants to fight at. However, it still in my opinion puts blemishes on his legacy. When Manny Pacquiao fought Margarito at such a height and weight disadvantage, he took a major risk.
i respect hopkins for not trashing floyd. he spoke of floyd in honor
I would love to see them fight.
word exactly right its vegas a lot of important ppl with muscle n money ask you to do something u do it
it was millions on the line
Everyone knows mayweather picking his fights wisely. Amir khan might happen but it may not . the best fighter would be Danny Garcia, he's undefeated and already beat khan. So that's how floyd should fight that can give him the loss.
Danny has never fought at 147lbs.
Floyd won't go down to 140lbs to fight Danny
Floyd doesn't want to fight any comp its the boxing way.
InfoOnly2U true
Yes they are.
True story lil homie! I feel you.
This guy constantino looks like the guy in apocalipto movie.
Mayweather Vs. Hopkins. Now that would be some shit!!!
Hopkins is the mastermind of defense. Even that he is older he is still taller and has a bigger reach than mayweather. It would be a great fight to see.
Why would no boxing who actually knows the art and understand that the core fan would watch. I'm glad that the hardcore fans out weighs the casual I never touched something or did nothing fan.
Yes Hagler never fought over 160. However, he fought with Hearns in spite of the height difference. Furthermore, Ali, Frazier, Norton and Foreman all fought each other regardless of advantages and disadvantages and wins and losses. You feel like Mayweather never avoided anyone or waited until they were past their prime. I can see your point because that is arguable.
you're right
He didn’t predict Canelo would be a master chess player in 2021.
This would be the ultimate chess match!
god I wish to see this fight happen
Agree on Casamayor. There are videos on this site of him challenging Tszyu. I don't blame either fighter for it not taking place because this is still a business & we never know all the reasons why fights aren't made. Margarito doesn't deserve to be mentioned. What he did was criminal & should be banned for life. I would have LOVED to see him face Cotto before the aforementioned fight took the best parts of Cotto.
i wish he'd hang up the gloves though
that would be awesome
From 1:13-1:17....man i love this guy!!!!! Completely made my day!!!!!!!
i would like to see that fight
The fight everybody wants to see is Andre Ward vs Benard Hopkins!!!!!
Hops ain't kidding, no way. When it comes to big fights, hops signs up and doesn't fuck around.
I wouldn't embarrass myself like that. If I were Hopkins, I would be calling out Andre Ward.
it will def be very interesting fight would like to see this bcuz i don't see any challenges for may except pac GGG i believe Hopkins has the tricks and the intimidation and strength to press the fight like he did to dela and tito
LMAO!!!!!!!!! tomato cans to pepsi bottles
Well MAke it happen Bernard! That it'll be interesting.
Youre right. Tyson got paid 30 million when he fought holyfield back in 96. and floyd is still making around the 30 million mark for fights. His last fight was 41 million. but the value of 30 million in 96 was more than the value of 41million in 2013. So i agree that mayweather isnt really breaking box office when you think about those facts.
The idea is ridiculous.
Oscar in his prime only gassed vs. Tito, and that was due to his hit and run strategy coupled with Tito's non-stop pressure. Floyd doesn't really pressure opponents, doesn't follow them around, especially more powerful fighters like Oscar. It would be for Oscar, similar to his Pernell fight. Remained active 1-12 the same. Sorry, Oscar did gas a bit vs. Mosley in first fight but that was an insane war of trading power punches and Mosley just held on to a bit more down the stretch.
i would watch that fight
if Hopkins were a genuine weight class or two smaller and at least 6 years younger, that ppv sales would be ridiculous! But that fight is not fair with the real circumstances
NO WAY he's looking for a pay day .
He exceeded expectations and won those fights. Given, both guys were past their primes. Oscar's last great fight was against Fernando Vargas if you ask me. And Miguel Cotto never recovered from the Margarito beating. So when I look at Floyd and I see that all his opponents since 2007 are under 5'10", and that most of them didn't have the footwork, hand speed, foot speed and volume to pose a threat, it makes me question his legacy.
Middleweights like Hearns and Iran Barkley whupped on Lightweight Duran and they were praised for doing it.
make it happen!
sure I'd watch a Hopkins vs. Mayweather but he's right about it possibly being a "chess match" or a pretty uneventful/boring fight... both Hopkins and Mayweather are masters at boxing and are two of the smartest fighters in boxing history. I doubt it'll be crowd-pleasing.
Wait a minute, first fight Sergey Kovalev, then we will see.
I would love to see this fight! Better than Danny Garcia vs maywether it's either pacquio vs maywether or Hopkins vs maywether
The only way this happens at 160 is if B-Hop cuts an arm off the day of the weigh in and gives it to floyd.
You know, I would pick hopkins any day of the week about 5-10 years ago but now, he's getting so old it may be silly to pick Hops over Floyd. But that is the great thing about Hopkins, you put him in with someone everyone thinks will roll over him, and he finds ways to shock everyone and win. FLoyd would have his hands completely full nevertheless, then we would see just how smart Floyd is in the ring vs the master, Hopkins.
I'd like to see maywetaher vs golovkin
we gotta have it b hop vs mayweather
huh?! WHAT?! SMH.
bernards seeing dollar signs
"THE GREATEST FIGHT OF ALL TIMES"
I'd like to see Hopkins vs. Martinez myself
He's not overrated and he is a professor of boxing. But I agree with you that he's crazy for wanting that fight.
Bernard wants that big check.
I meant converted "welterweights" - eg, trinidad, de la hoya, wright, pavlik, all of whom hopkins was probably outweighing by at least 10 pounds on fight night.
How you going to call out a guy 4 weight classes below you..
Regarding description: His fights did gross more than Le Hoya's and Holyfield/Tyson's to date. One must also consider inflation since those times. The price of the dollar has gone up, as it always does over time. Do you think gas is the same price as it was when Tyson and Holyfield fought? The more money the government produces, the less it is worth. This always happens over time throughout history. Floyd's fights may not really be exceeding, though the amount is remarkable no matter what.
That fight would be the biggest embarrassment since Pacquiao dismantled Oscar Delahoya.
Hopkins is an Amazing athlete and I the fight did happen I wouldn't be shocked if he won. He's a freak of nature like George Foreman was.
bigger check
thats a fight nobody once too see
Everyone talks mayweather, when they should all be in ah of B.Hopkins @ his accomplishments. Most title defenses by a MW.Oldest person to win title belt for any weight division not once but twice. This man has done some great things in boxing @ no one is talking about him.One of the smartest boxers all time @ no doubt in the top 20 p4p all time as far as I am concerned.
Furthermore, recently Sergio Martinez fought Paul Williams... There was a 4 inch height advantage for Williams... Did that stop Martinez??? NO! Martinez knocked him out cold in the 2nd fight... Also, Trinidad fought Hopkins while giving away a 3 inch height advantage, and weight advantage as well... He still took the fight though he lost... And then Shane Mosley fought Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright, who both had significant height advantages... So you tell me, what's FLOYD'S EXCUSE?
Go look at post fight interviews with Larry Merchant in the 2000's. Floyd called out Mosley several times. Plus, in 99 they were negotiating to fight at lightweight but Mosley didnt want to do it because at the time Floyd wasn't a big draw. You gotta do your research man. No fighter is afraid of anybody, only promoters because they're afraid of losing money if their guy loses.
B. Hop Is The Smartest Fighter That Mayweather Could Fight...No One Else Is Smart Enough...
Didn't Canelo drop down to 155lbs? He was heavier than Floyd Mayweather in that fight. It appears that Bernard want Floyd Wayweather to pick up a lot of weight to slow him down. A horse runs 40 miles an hour and weighs 800 lbs. A deer runs the same but weighs 120. That deer with twice the weight wouldn't move as fats because the fat would slow him down. The horse would still be fast because it has more muscle. Floyd shouldn't distort his body to being 160 lbs.
ive read your posts and I agree 100% you know your shit bro.to me the only person Floyd truly fought in their prime who I thought he actually was risking something was corrales and that was the best Floyd has ever looked.floyd is so talented and is a great fighter but if he was fighting 20 years ago and had to face duran, hearns or leonard he would no way be undefeated.people make such a big deal about being undefeated but to me having a loss or 2 fighting the best consistently is more impressive
I've only been saying this very same thing for 3 or 4 years now. Move to 160 challenge the middleweights take those 3 or 4 belts and then retire as the very best!
Ward vs Floyd at 160 would be a great tactical fight, probably very boring though. Still would be worth watching.
As much as I'd like to argue you're right, Although JMM will be far down the ATG list, possibly out of the top 75, maybe not even top 100. Floyd's probably around 50-75 but he still lacks career defining fights and hasn't beaten any prime greats. He had his chance with prime Pac and he blew it, which will always haunt his legacy and rating as an ATG.
because Hopkins is chasing greatness...he wants to fight THE BEST..he always wants to fight the best.
U CAN DO IT BHOP!
shame bernard didnt play chess with calzaghe
I would love to see Floyd go out with a bang and fight Manny and Hopkins before he retires, instead of taking it easy, fighting B fighters and avoiding real fights that might cause him to struggle. One last true test of his capability before throwing in the towel. I would love to see him retire 50-0-0
