From a certain Isle of Wight Book Through dense undergrowth there is a spinney of ash and apple trees that once was a bowling green; the stone grotto, where folk sat listening to the clack of wood against wood, now hears nothing but timber's growing pains and the charm of birds.
I'm sure that, at one time, that beautifully constructed niche would have had a nice seat, and possibly a small table, where the owner of the garden could sit and admire the garden on a summer's evening. Very sad that that garden is now an eerie collection of trees and weeds, although I notice several clumps of cultivated flowers, Daffodils or Tulips bursting through the ground cover in a pleasingly defiant manner. Another beautiful video. Thank you.
brianartillery Thanks for you comment. Yup, probably a seat in there, Or maybe a statue? Really is a lovely old walled garden. The large property it belonged to is long gone. And the cottage nearby is beyond repair & rotting away. Such a shame this garden couldn't be restored as a local project etc..
Hi there. Heard your name mentioned among others from the Facebook exploration group. Don't go on Facebook myself. Still exploring? I'm out every week, done loads of places, but nothing I would dare post. Too many idiots. And sensitive places...
