I would love to take the time to say over a year I have fought to do these knots..Thank You so much for doing it SLOW..I cant express enough how so many of other videos goes SO FAST Im very visual but once they do the first couple of rows People Fly...Im so loving the way you do things..Please NEVER stop teaching..Im disabled and it gets very complicating..You have helped me ..Thank you again Kim in Maine....2020..
Dear Kim in Maine, I agree with what you said in your comment 100% It's so much easier to follow an instructor who takes things slowly.
GREAT tutorial! I do macrame, but I always keep an eye out for me videos. Your teaching method was sooooooo extremely clear, explained, and demonstrated I was thrilled to see it! Keep em coming! Thanks for sharing your knowledge in a way that helps anybody understand how to accomplish beautiful patterns 😊👍
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, a wonderful tutorial! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Hi, thank you for this great video. You're a very good teacher. Some other instructors go way too quickly and it's impossible to keep up! I learnt how to do Square Knots a while ago and I call them P and Q knots, because I make my 1st loop on the right and it looks like a P, while the second knot on the left looks like a Q!!
This tutorial was extremely useful, informative and instructive. I appreciate the time and effort you invested to benefit people like me who are interested in learning and trying macrame.
Very informative, whether your a beginner or more advanced. It's always nice to have a refresher.
I am the most excited to say I learned how to do this step by step with your video. Perfect pace and clearly shown! Thank the Lord!!!
Your macrame videos are easily the best and clearest tutorials on UA-cam, thank you so much for taking the time to share.
THANK YOU!!!! I've been looking for a quality video with good visual direction for TWO freaking days now. This video answered all of my questions. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I will be using this video for all of my projects.
thank you so much for demonstrating all basic knots...Better understand different patterns I have been seeing. Great tutorial
Sharon Floyd No problem. I'm really glad it was helpful :-)
I watched a lot of videos. This is the best one
Soooooo many THANKS!!! I am learning!! (without confusion & frustration, too!) YOU ARE A TEACHER! 🐝 much gratitude & love to you! I look forward to buying from your Etsy site as a piece of work created by my instructor....
Excellent tutorial, thank you for taking the time to share.

The best yet. Thank you!!!
You are a wonderful teacher and a very giving person. Thank you so much
Great tutorial !!! You explain and demonstrate everything so well .... I use the square knot a lot but haven't used the others in a long time ...so it was great to see this video
Thank you so much !!!
Toni Earnest Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that :-)
You are truly a fantastic teacher and jewelry maker. I love watching and learning from your videos. Thanks so much for sharing. I think yours are the best how to jewelry videos out there.
THANKS SO MUCH...You have a great calm voice...Runs off to buy stones and Macrame
Dear CSL, yours are the very best tutorials on the net for a newbie :) Thx a lot!!!
You did an excellent job on this video. I've been wanting to learn this and this is the first video I have watched and you made everything so clear. Thank you so much!
+Cathy West Thank you very much, I'm glad it was useful for you :-)
Your video tutorials are just wonderful. I've learned a lot. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce these. I especially like your clear instructions, as well as the up close view of what you are demonstrating. And it's nice how you repeat each step a number of times, so it can "sink in" lol. It sure beats the videos where the teacher is sitting on the bed in a dimly lit room, with the dog walking back and forth in front of the camera! Ha ha ha.
+Kay Pryor Thank you so much. That is very kind of you to say and I really appreciate it. I'm just really glad that my tutorials are helpful :-)
I am new on learning marcrame and very happy to find your video. You have the best tutorial of teaching "basic macrme nots" . Thank you very much!
+clara yu Thank you very much. I'm really glad it is helpful :-)
Thanks for sharing Christine, I love your work. I know a little macrame, enough to make a bracelet with crystals or beads but want to learn more to be able to make pendants and bracelets, love what you have done with your micro macrame jewelry, beautiful.
Awesome job of step by step instructions. Thank you so much!!!
The best instruction video I've seen. I like you're instructions (no confusion), they're easy to understand. I bet you have a lot of patience. that's awesome Thank you! :)
Grazie infinite e complimenti per la sua arte e la sua bravura e chiarezza.

Excellent video!! Thank you so very much for making it!!
EEeeeekkkk!!! How cuuteee!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Love the little berry!!!! sooo cute!! see I told you always learn something new from you!! I may have posted this before, but I love your videos. They are always clear, clean, and concise. Your voice is so soothing as well. I am soooo happy you don't play music in the background. The only videos that should have music playing are the music videos. Your instructions are well executed too. I am sure you have heard this many times but your videos help me feel peace and learn something every time. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video. I learned a lot from it!

Great tutorial! Thankyou!
Lots of thanks for that wonderful tutorial :))
Such an awesome video! You definitely know how to explain things in a comprehendible way. These are basically all of the main knots you could use in any macramé. Could you maybe make another video of some random fancy/different knots?
Heather Redman the UK. hajj
Brilliant video, very clear instructions
Master teacher congrats!!! ♡ και

+yong kim No problem. I'm glad it was helpful :-)
Hi ,very important and easy to understand .thank you
Soheir Ghozzi You're welcome and thank you :-)
Thank you great video 😊
awesome thanks for sharing your talent
Thank you for this tutorial! I learned a lot! I've always known how to make a square knot, but never explored the different ways to use the variations in macrame. Fun, FUN!
One question: for the vertical lark's head knot, can you alternate which strands are used for the working cord vs the holding cord? Seems like you could. It would make sense for the pattern to just go from side to side.
this is so useful.. thanks Mem....
You helped me a lot
Magic! Best tutorial on u-tube!
Hilary Osman Thank you very much. I really appreciate it :-)
Hi can u do more options of macrame in different styles around stones .. as most macrame videos on you tube are where they don’t speak so u have to watch & understand . Would really appreciate if u do more videos of macrame around stone with different techniques and looks . Thanks
Nice tutorial. Would be nice to get closeups of each of the knots after they are done.
Wow very good Think you to what you do
Waaaaaoooo eso si q mencanto tengo q aprender gracias
Thank you!
very informative. thank you
Pat W No problem, and thank you :-)
I love learning from all your video's! Thank you for giving your knowledge. I am having a bit of trouble finding a good cord to use for jewelry macrame. Can you recommend a few different types?
Thank you very much. That really means a lot to me. You can really use anything you would like or have at hand, but I have this video where I go through my favourite cords that might be helpful :-) ua-cam.com/video/DMwYmvKtXm4/v-deo.html
Perfect
Like a butterfly
Hopefull you can help me. The cord I bought to learn must be the wrong stuff because it has a lot of wax and when I form a knot I can't tell if it's right and it hard to handle. Your tutorial is great and easy to follow I just need to find the right cord that's easy to use. Where can I purchase it.
The only question I have is, if making a bracelet, how would you end and make clasp? Could you do one showing the end result of bracelet? Thanks
excellent
only got as far as the first knot before I had to comment, so clear and easy to follow!! also, what threads do you use...the purple..so shiny and lustrous!
+Lou Booth Thank you so much. That is very kind of you and I really appreciate it. It is satin cord. I have a video where I talk about my favourite cords and where I buy them that might be interesting to you ua-cam.com/video/DMwYmvKtXm4/v-deo.html :-)
muy bueno..
Porque no permites que el video tenga subtitulos en español, son muy buenos, muchos hispanos te ven
thank you so much for this !!!!!
+Ronen Senin You're welcome :-)
I do really want to try.its beautiful..but I don't know where can I buy materials here in Singapore..I'm just a household workers but I want to use my resting time to do this..how I wish..awesome...
Ash Ramos Try and have a look online. That's where I get most of my materials from :-)
👍👍👍👍👍
Some of the knots used in macrame have other names that are used in the technique of paracord weaving.
The square knot is known as a Solomon. The Lark's head is a cow hitch. What you call a sennit, is known as a sinnet.
Having said that, it would appear that I have a basic grounding in macrame (our American friends pronounce it as macra-may. The word macrame should have an accent above the e, thus:
macramé | məˈkrɑːmi, məˈkrɑːmeɪ |
noun [mass noun]
the art of knotting string in patterns to make decorative articles.
• [usually as modifier] articles made using macramé: spider plants dangled in macramé plant holders.
ORIGIN
mid 19th century: French, from Turkish makrama ‘tablecloth or towel’, from Arabic miqrama ‘bedspread’.
sinnet | ˈsɪnɪt |
noun [mass noun] Nautical
braided cordage in flat, round, or square form, made from three to nine cords and used for making mats, lashings, etc.
ORIGIN
early 17th century: of unknown origin.
sennit | ˈsɛnɪt |
noun [mass noun]
plaited straw, hemp, or similar fibrous material used in making hats.
• Nautical braided cordage in flat, round, or square form, made from three to nine cords and used for making mats, lashings, etc.
ORIGIN
mid 18th century: variant of sinnet.
...so the sinnet came before the sennit. Every day's a school day. 🙂
super.
what kind of cord are you using, please provide the material it is made from, blend etc.
can we make scraf with this?i want to make scraf ....
nice iam impreace
when you attach your Cords to another Cord, to start your Macrame´ work, how do you get your work for the Cord to finish it???
I don't know if it's my computer (because this is the second video from two different subs that I noticed this)- but when you are about to show the Picot Knots while the alternating square knot is showing it jumps to something that doesn't match what you're saying? :/
D' Gypsy I think its glitches on either the device you're using or on UA-cam itself, because I have had similar problems myself on my phone when watching UA-cam videos. Hopefully they can fix it very soon, whatever the problem is :-)
Thanks! I replayed it after and it synched up just fine- it was almost as if the video was lagging behind your audio last time :)
Also wanted to let you know I love your tutorials and teaching style!
I'm curious (for eg I'm watching the multiple rosebud macrame bracelet video)- are there certain rules/givens when doing intricate macrame patterns or do you just have it down from doing it so often? Like what order to do the knots and what threads you knot with others (and which is working or holding cords)? I feel like if I had certain rules in mind I could recreate the bracelet while watching your video and not get as lost at some points.
Thank you :)
That's great. Hmmm, I wouldn't say so much certain rules. It mostly comes with experience, but one thing that you can maybe call a 'rule' is, in most cases (at least with my designs) the working cord is always the one coming underneath the holding cord, and the holding cord is the one on top :-)
Yes thank you- that's one "rule" I've learned from your videos :) How do you know when to make a backward 6 vs. a forward 6 (when doing the double half hitches)? Sometimes on the right side of the work you would do forward ones and sometimes back- so it didn't seem to be a left side vs right side. I originally was watching "Friendship bracelet" videos and they taught (PurlBee Soho) this Left knot and Right Knot- (left was the 4 and right a P), but these terms don't seem to be anywhere else- the closes was Forward and Backward knots. So I've been really confused since! Lol
Hehe ;-) Yes, it can certainly be very confusing as there are many different terms for the same things depending on what 'medium' it is. Regarding the normal 6 and reverse 6 that I do, I don't really think about that ahead of time. It's just how it ends up depending what direction I make the half hitch in. I think more of the half hitch itself and how that needs to sit in relation to the project that I am doing. I think it is really just a matter of practise and 'getting used' to it. I was quite confused in the beginning until I then found my own way of thinking about it :-)
It's pronounced: MAC-rah-may... not Ma-crah-me.
Andrea Trimble I expect the pronunciation depends on where you are from.
Thanks for going slow
nicely done, clear and easy to follow
syrahlover Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that :-)
