I hiked up there once...55 lb pack, slogged up switchbacks, ducked and dodged mosquitos...twisted my ankle...Twice....lost my camera phone, food went bad....it started to rain up there and the total journey was about 6 hours.....It sucked!! AND...she flies up in 25 minutes...wearing shorts, hat and stays sweat free, takes a few snaps of the adventure...snacks on an almond bar, dangles her feet in the water while soaking up the sun and calls it a day and flies home....while i rough it out!!! LIFE is so unfair.....Lol
It is quite possible she was hounded by mosquitos - and with just a 430lb useful load - it's possible that a 55 lb pack would put her over max takeoff weight. might have to leave the almond bar behind.

The irony of my career contract ending at 48 with a very young family; I was operating on the “Queen of the Skies” being an essential worker delivering medical supplies, climate controlled pharmaceuticals, food etc. as a freight dog! Whilst in the mist of anger, disbelief, depression, my situation whilst knowing that we’ll get through this, I stumbled upon this video and I had a breakthrough accepting my fate... the passion for flying hasn’t stopped and is raging in my heart, coursing through my veins. I was thinking the same thing, like I could go with her and she could paint herself green like the girl on star trek and we can just hang out in a cabin all weekend and have strange star trek secs
The Icon Aircraft Company needs one more aircraft to save the company : Same Aircraft, some visual cues and a stronger engine. GA licensed pilots will hesitate to pay that price for less performance than what other aircraft they can purchase/rent. I don't mean get rid of the LSA A5, I mean make an A6 for other pilots. The A5 is beautiful so don't make changes that will hurt the look. The Icon A5 and the Icon A6 should look like beautiful sisters.
That water landing was gorgeous. On the video the descent rate looked fast! But at the last few moments it flattened out, and then you almost couldn't tell from the video when you hit the drag of the water. Very nice!
I love to see young, empowered women taking control of their lives and assuming their rightful place in society. Much admiration for this young woman. Total respect.

I'm flying the Icon A5 nearly exclusively in the new flightsim, and loving it. Copied your trip, and I'm currently sitting on Lake Isobell watching a thunderstorm (live weather in the game).
I wish I had more positive-minded people in my circles. I live in a inner-city crack-motel, and surrounded by meth-heads. But I enjoy watching others have fun and making the world a better place to live.
This is why I originally got interested in the AT - being able to swing into places like this for the afternoon is just brilliant. I see an A5 in my future...
Since Flight Simulator was released I am seeing lots of real planes videos in my recommended feed. Now I want to fly into this lake in Flight Simulator.
Here!! I did a mountain lake landing on it myself a few times! Alpine WY to little elk creek, over the rim down waterfall canyon, 90 degree bank left and land on the lake. Take off heading out the west end of the lake and bank 90 again to fly out Palisades Creek. I love flying this plane! Would love to be able to do it for real!

I've been wanting an icon plane since they came out, love these planes! I live right by a major lake in upstate NY so this would be perfect! Gonna hit that lottery one day soon and when I do, order up!! 1 icon plane!
I would love to have one of these one day to fly over the Rocky Mountains here. Maybe one day the cost will go down. It's a beautiful personal plane, I love how it can land on a runway and on water.

Lake Isabelle is accessible on foot. I’ve done it. Tough hike, followed by a 100 foot plus climb at the end. I live in Louisiana now, so hiking isn’t a thing now, I would put it at a medium task. I will also say icon is the best damn idea in aviation industry. I want one.
When I first saw the A5 I wanted it right away especially when it was 139k ! Quite a bit more than that now everyone wants one. Demand & supply ! I fantasized about taking off from Bodega Bay Ca. & flying to Lake Tahoe Ca. that is just about the edge of its range! Will probably wind up with a hang glider got priced out of the A5.
supply and demand aren't that real. ex: go into any murican supermarket and note the DOZENS of flavors of Mountain Dew NO ONE ASKED FOR, ditto the 50 new flavors of Doritos, or Goldfish. NO DEMAND. Massive supply. By experts. (Aka, morons.) ex: in NYC and most cities, there is a HUGE DEMAND for affordable housing. No supply (and in fact the supply is shrunken artificially each year, like then-Mayors Giuliani and Bloomturd removing public housing units from the rolls to shrink the housing stock artificially).

Most people have no clue what "the gouge" is... a naval aviation term for information, the skinny, the lowdown, the poop. I flew for the Navy and to hear a civilian use that term tells me you were either a naval aviator or you hang with some of the best pilots in the world.

Bought your FPV guide and everything :) Kinda drifted away from your channel when you stopped doing fpv though and went more to the reviewing of things. Glad to see your still about. Icon is one of my fav aircraft in MS FS 2020. Didnt know there was an RC version of it. Looking for a seaplane capable of FPV too. Currently waiting to see if Flite Test get more of their Grumman G-44 back in stock.

That's the reason she's flying solo.....
It looks underpowered for that payload.
With max fuel load, it can carry 70 pound of passageners and cargo.
With your weight, it can carry only 4 gallons of fuel.
So, unless you are a skinny girl in her 20s, this aircraft isn't for you.
