That low note was Rami and that was one of the most BADASS lines ever said in Kpop. Before her Rora sings, "It's our turn now" followed by Rami, "Slowly burn it down while you're asleep". The reason that is such a badass line is that many Koreans talk shit about BabyMonster because they are Blackpink's baby sisters so YG releases their music at midnight Korean time. So those two lines together, "It's our turn now, Slowly burn it down while you're asleep" is absolutely true. They burned down the entire market and their haters while they slept with this song and all we can say is "Sheesh"

A lot of people clown on YG for having the same sound over and over - and perhaps some of it is deserved. BUT what they do get right (production quality, MV visuals, bass heavy beats, etc) they do better than ANYONE else in my opinion. From top to bottom this group is God-tier talented so in theory, if YG does this right, they should push the boundaries and open a whole new sound for k-pop.

Trash is a harsh word for unappreciating someone's hardwork..it took a whole production team to make this one song. From pre production- brainstorming, writing, then production-recording audio n mv, n now post production-delivering it to the fans n coping with criricism n praises..many Hollywood celebs sing n write similar music over n over again, nobody really cares but if YG does it, its a whole new crime..
YG is making business, not a lab test to experiment, their musical structure is like a secret recipe that needed to be passed down to every new generations..imagine BM singing Y2k songs, or a slow n depressing music, if that means different..That be a waste to the girls power vocals..people just hate the arrangements of the song n quick to say it sounds like BP when eventually its all different melodies. Theres other different music in this album that dont have similarity to Boombayah or D4 or Pink Venom etc , at least take a listen to all before judging on just 1 song ..just my 2 cents.thanks

Seems to me you are focusing on the second half of my statement and completely ignoring the first while adding false narratives. As I said, some of the criticism is deserved, YG doesn't have a ton of originality right now in their MVs. You pretty much know what you are going to get with a YG production. But WHAT THEY DO I think they do better than anyone else. To give you an analogy. The Chicago Bulls of the 1990's. Everyone KNEW their scheme. They ran a triangle offense designed to free up a shooter. It is actually an OLD scheme. But they did it better than anyone else and won championships with it. Similarly YG's production value remains EXTREMELY HIGH. Yes, there are repetitive elements, but repetition doesn't mean low quality. But NO WHERE did I say YG's MV's are better than anyone else - I clearly referenced ELEMENTS of their production - please stop making up false narrative to fit your hate agenda.

Remember baby, reading is FUNDAMENTAL. Where did I claim THIS song is a new sound? Where did I say it was "taking a risk" or "experimental"? My statement was clearly FORWARD looking. What I did say was that all the elements are there with this group for YG to push the boundaries of Kpop. I never said this song is doing that. Now I don't have a problem with a company picking a concept and kinda sticking to that and perfecting it. That's their right as free people. If it's not for you - that's cool, listen to something else.
The groups you mentioned - f(x), Itzy, Nmixx, Red Velvet, Loona, Billie - all are tremendous groups that have delivered AMAZING music over the years. I love each and every one of them and I never slighted any of those GGs with my statement - my comments were clearly in anticipation of and with the expectation that BabyMonster has the POTENTIAL to join their ranks. I believe they are that talented. Whether YG chooses to press forward - time will tell.
I am no YG company stan - rather I love music, across all companies and many different genres. It's clear, with your comments, that you are at the very least, a YG hater and that is your right. Not every song or sound or concept is for everybody. That's fine. 7:48 the reason is that YG entertainment (their company) have a lot of hip hop Influence, the CEO of YG was part of a kpop group when he was younger, and he was the rapper and dancer. that's why his company has so many talented rappers and dancers, the company has also their own way to use instruments and make music, that's why their groups looks the same (2NE1, Blackpink, Treasure, Big Bang, Babymonster and more) YG is like the "house of the rappers" 'cause the best rappers always came from there
And producer, Teddy Park, was also in a boy band at YG. As a teen, his family came to the US. When they returned to Korea, Teddy brought his love of Hip-hop back with him. While producing 2NE1 and Blackpink, he used the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine used by Hip-hop artists in the US. This is where YG's "808 beat" came from!

'Sheesh' is interesting! The intro (Rora & Chiquita), Rami's vocals, Asa's rap and the "Tell a friend" part are my favourite parts of the song, but I think I like 'Like That' & 'Monters' (intro) more then 'Sheesh'. The MV visuals with the lyrics are a great combo (the maze in the background & maze piano sheets -> "try to get out", the eye sets, covered eyes -> "all eyes on me", motorbikes on the wall -> "vroom vroom")!! I am looking forward to seeing the whole dance!

Rami - biggest range, probably biggest improvement since their trainee days.
Pharita - very good control of her high notes that does not hurt the ears.
Ruka - fluidity, flow & dancer. Side note, I think she has the most beautiful complexion in this MV.
Rora - very good technique, clarity, angelic
Chiquita - evoke emo to her singing even though she is very young
Asa - speed & clarity
Ahyeon - visual, all rounder.
All of them are very charming individually.
I said all of these despite them being very young and are continually working hard to hone their craft to the next level. My husband does not care about k-pop asked me what is so great about BabyMonster as he saw them in the news today. My reply amazes even me, they are very talented individually, it is a waste that they are all put in a group with so little to shine as each song is chopped into 7. Everyone of them is a star, they could get 2-3 great groups out of these girls or even 7 super stars.
I am seldom into k-pop these days other than for NewJeans (their vibes) but BabyMonsters are difficult to ignore with their amazing talents.

To your observation that the rap is different than other gg raps, and wondering about the difference is:
1) the three part rap section is longer than the 8 bars conventionally thrown into a non-rap song, which is common in kpop. 2) the genuine fierceness of it - what we want to see in good raps, and 3) I think overall as a group, the rap line is better than the others out there - the flow is more unique and appealing. (I can't prove that last point because I don't know the other rap lines well enough, but that's my impression.)

Man, onomatopoeia to describe the rap lyrics is FIRE. Also, that makes sense because Sheesh itself is an onomatopoeia. And other reactors saying that the rap didn't make sense. The consistency in the title, the chorus and the rap is subtle, yet in your face at the same time. Thank you for this reaction. Only true artists would know!
They have a similar sound to black pink but hit differently due to their layers, it’s refined. They have a nice balance between being hard but also on point. Not pushing the rap to be crazy aggressive and even the visuals are amazing but not flashy. Rappers are spitting but not spewing or punching you in the face with aggressionand singers are doing their thing without overreaching. Talent. They have this badass Jessi vibe, but then angelic vulnerability. Like in stuck in the middle. They maybe my new fave GG

I love rap but I am NOT an expert but the first two are almost identical in how they cadence. Reaction and even attitude. The third is much more confident. More bold. She hits the words. Let me know what you think...
