Wanna feel even more emotional about the Viktor running scene? Notice that while he's standing still there's a boat in the background moving past him, but as he starts running he outpaces it immediately. Remember as a kid when he couldn't catch up to his mechanical boat? That exact moment was the FREEST Viktor has ever felt.
MY HEART. How beautiful. 🥺🤍 -Sam
Also, in the scene when he was a kid, he was running from left to right. That is the traditional way we are used to see everything in the West (like when we read), the "natural way". However, in this scene he is now running from right to left, going in the opposite direction. The "unnatural way". You might say that in this scene they are telling us that, while he is now running faster, this is the result of altering the normal nature of things. An unnatural evolution, if you like.
@@rakansasas1111 Films usually use left to right movement as "forward" and right to left as "backward". Snowpeircer is a movie where this is much more blatant that usual. It suggest that Victor is now running in the 'wrong direction'.
Small detail that showed me how much Silco cares about Jinx is when he came to the bridge with two huge bodyguards and he was the one who carried her back.
6:04 yes its the same bridge. Even Jinx was humming the same song in episode 7 that Powder sang in episode 1. This time around her eyes are opened and its Marcus's daughter that got orphaned.
I do like that Singed understood how much Silco
cared for Jinx, as he himself was a father, at least at
one point, and knocked him out to prevent him from
having to endure the sights and sounds of the pain
during the surgery influcted upon her.
"Surgery", Singed was injecting Shimmer on her and letting it do its job
@@MrIchi27 we don't know the full extent of what he did to her. Shimmer has been shown to only have temporary effects, but Jinx is a freak permanently.
@@lucianofrancesco4742 Shimmer is an addictive medicine, if u saw the series u know its not only temporary effects, it changes ur body forever, the crystalized ppl are a clear proof of it.
@@MrIchi27 The "crystalized" people became that because of constant use over the years. Vi took the shimmer and she was fine, Sevika uses it several times (only when needed) and she doesn't seem to have side effects, the first kid who drank the shimmer changed back after a while. Jinx became crazier, several times stronger (without becoming a monster on the exterior) and she doesn't have any sign of addiction. She is very different to everything we've seen on the show.
@@lucianofrancesco4742 i thinks its the new shimmer Singed gave Victor for his leg. he said its a variant, so prolly thats why its permanent and not turning Jinx into a monster
Yeah Silco really and truly sees Jinx as his daughter. I love a villain that is also complex too. Silco is my new standard for villains that are well written. It's also interesting that most people project their own issues/fears/trauma onto Silco/Jinx. Some see it as sexual, others see it as pure manipulation, and some see it as someone that was betrayed by his brother desperate to have family again. Cause jinx is the only person Silco trusts completely in the series
Especially because Silco goes full circle from his view on Vander in the first 3 episodes. Vander was willing to sacrifice his dreams for Zaun in order to protect his daughters, and Silco didn't understand that at all, so he felt betrayed. But Silco is exactly where Vander was all those years ago. He finally have something more important to him that Zaun.
@@jimsonw exactly. People don't understand how difficult it is to be in charge until they are
I've never seen a character dynamic with as many interpretations as Jinx and Silco. They are so insanely well written and multifaceted, that the audience can't even agree on what they're seeing half the time. Lol
Mel decides war is the last priority - The React Pack ( nods in agreement )
Vi speaks up and wants to take down Silco, which can trigger a war with the undercity, fights shimmer enhanced humans which can potentially start a war - The React Pack ( WHOOOO!!! )
Love these reactions lol
So for the Viktor and Sky scene, Viktor had run out of shimmer from his leg test. He inscribed the runes anyway and proceeded with the test because he was desperate, which would have killed him. But, Sky running in to save the day gave the Hexcore a minimal amount of matter to consume to transform only his hand. He can evolve an entire leg with just shimmer, but an entire biological life form only gave enough to transfer one hand. So the sad part is by dying in his stead, Sky actually saved Viktor's life.
25:53 Jinx in the corner 👁️
**Silco sees his daughter lying motionless in the middle of a bridge surrounded by dead bodies**
Sam: “Ha, Silco!”
That was surprisingly dark for Sam.
By dead bodies that his own daughter caused and something he encouraged to be done to Piltover as they can all just burn in his own eyes.
Remember the episode with Viktor's past there was this girl tht saw him and when her friends called out to her they were calling out "Sky". So...yea...after all these years...only to be turned to dust. This show really just wanna break our hearts.
You guys fangirling over Jayce and Vi working together gives me life
Decker been dead since the third episode. Vander killed him.
Yea, the kid that got shot wasn't in a suit, also did you guys notice jinx appearing in the corner of the room at 25:50 ?
I didn't the first time I watched the episode ^^; The second time, it became obvious...
Yeah Cait naked took all my attention too
@@LuisSantos-ku8io the shot lingered for ages it wasn’t that hard to figure out that there was something else we were supposed to be seeing lmao
Am I the only one who doesn't feel any sympathy for the kid who turned what should have been arrests into a bloodbath, and then died as a result of his own actions?
@@jameshunt9208 no idea who ur talking about
Something cool about the Caitlyn shower scene. The blood and water mix almost perfectly. Vi said that oil and water can't mix. But blood (red, a color associated with Vi heavily) and water (drawn blue, a color associated with Caitlyn) mix almost completely. Hinting at them being together long term :)
I wonder if Jayce and Vi ever figure out that their paths have crossed before all those years ago, when Vi broke into Jayce's apartment, setting the chain of events that have led to this.
Maybe they will in the 2nd season.
honestly jayce might be like, "you asshole.... thanks..."
@@AppleBaron That was not Jaces's apartment, it was Catelyn's
The whole hextech vs shimmer fight coupled with that music is so hype. I also love the new setup of this room! ❤
An interesting insight into Mel's opening scene. After her mother executes the prisoner, we see a broken necklace. Then it flashes to her waking up.. but in the split second as it changes, we see a painting on the wall.. remember Mel is a painter... the painting on the wall is in her bedroom, over her bed...so it is one of her most treasured paintings, right? And what is it of? A pure red painting of the outline of that necklace... it haunts her that much... she is TERRIFIED of becoming her mother.
When Vi talks about "the Real Monster" you have to remember that she ran straight into danger when Silco approached little Powder back in Episode 3...
Yeah memory is a strange thing. And in the 4th episode Vi is like, my sister was great at parakor when she was 7. We know that's not true. We tend to idealize the good and make worse the bad.
@@kellharris2491 No she said my sister COULD do that when she was 7, not that she was great at it.
I thought she was speaking about herself when she referred to "a real monster" since running away is what she immediately did after staring at the hand that had just struck powder.
I want to point out that Silco is not responsible for the state of the undercity. The counsel is. They are the ones who ordered the mining of the fissures in the first place, they are the ones who sit in palaces above ground while people starve and struggle to survive in the undercity. They are the ones who treat the undercity as if they are second class. Silco wants to make it so that the counsel cannot effect the undercity anymore. He wants to make sure the undercity has leaders who give a shit about them. Unfortunately the most powerful people in the undercity who Silco has to work with happen to be the criminals because the counsel insures that legal work in the undercity doesn't grant power or respect.
Actually, the shimmer factory who Vi and Jayce invaded belongs to Silco, so yeah, Silco is part of the problem too, he just wants to be the leader of undercity, he dont care that much for the ppl, he just wants power.
@@MrIchi27 And why did he create shimmer again? Oh yeah, so the people of the undercity had some means of fighting back against an abusive government.
@@MrIchi27 Sorry, but this is poor understanding of the character.
@@jerekheadrick3379 So he could fight against piltover and actually was Singed, Piltover is not right, but Silco is far way to be right too.
Plus, the addictive drug who he uses to make ppl work in exchange for it? Including children of course, such a nice guy.
@@lucianofrancesco4742 Sorry, but Silco is not good, not even close to it, u cant disregard everything wrong he is doing.
Poor Jayce.... after the bathhouse scene, I suspect every time Jayce is in an intimate situation with Mel, the one mental image going in his mind would probably be "I've seen your mom nekkid!!" 😂😂
Did she really ask if that was Decker in one of the suits? smh!! Pretty sure Decker got his neck snapped in episode 3.
They never actually showed it though, just implied. I could see people believing the doctor could have somehow kept him alive
WALL OF TEXT WARNING! TURN BACK NOW IF YOU’RE EASILY DISTRACTED!
I’ve been thinking of Vi from a purely pragmatic angle. During Act 1, she started off literally discovering her dead parents. Then skip to when she’s about sixteen years old, and had to be mature beyond her age to guide and care for Powder and the others. At no point did we hear anything about a boyfriend, crush, significant other. Nothing, almost as if she’s used to being alone, separate from the others.
Then; seven-ish years of prison - and this is the really sad bit. No visitors, no friends, no outside communication. The only human contact Vi had was with other prisoners, who I’m guessing ended up perhaps a bit wary of the Vi Fist. Only other people in her life were the guards and their regular ‘chats,’ which, let’s be honest, would have probably involved more than just the occasional beating. And I can imagine Vi did _not_ submit quietly, she would have punched, kicked, bit and spat, and made them pay dearly for every atrocity. That’s most probably the real reason she’s in solitary in sub-basement 40.
That’s seven years, right in the middle of her transition to adulthood, of enduring unrelenting physical and emotional abuse and isolation, with no reprieve. Not a single tender, caring touch or word from anyone.
There’s an attachment type called Dismissive Avoidance. This is where the person concerned grew up with random or non-existent responses to emotional needs, so they grow up to be loners, with ingrained trust issues which makes them seem distant and aloof. Inside though, they crave to be close to someone, but are also scared of closeness, because they’re convinced that there’s something intrinsically _wrong_ with them - after all, they always end up alone, of course there’s something wrong with them (they justify). It’s very difficult for a DA to ask for help, and express emotional needs, because for most of their lives, they’ve never had those needs met, so why bother?
She didn’t trust Caitlyn straight off, of course she didn’t, because every single experience in her life was yelling at her that you can’t trust anyone, that you’ll be hurt, physically or emotionally, so DON’T DO IT! That’s also the reason she left Cait, because a DA is terrified their partner will find out that undefined thing that’s wrong with them, and judge them unworthy; so they’ll leave first, to maintain some control of the situation.
I’d argue that Vi simply reaching her hand up and asking Caitlyn for help is a far more important step for her than anything that may or may not have happened afterwards.
The guy who made shimmer is named Singed or just Singe he's a league character just like jinx and Vi , echo and jayce ,heimerdinger, Viktor and Vander, also it is true its not normal Magic cause its being replicated off of harnessed bits of energy trapped in a gem that became manipulated to work like magic but highly unstable since its said it bond's with matter but dies right after is due to a weak host, a decent example is like a symbiote from venom or like venom from marvel, the only way it can survive is through a strong enough host otherwise it dies so that's why they use that powerful energy for machinery or fuel until viktor used the shimmer to survive the bond with what they call hextech not necessarily magic but medarda called it that and others cause its able to do almost anything and seems unlimited plus with how Jayce copied the movement pattern from the wizard that saved him it allowed the energy to be stable which means that it's not to far off from the real magic that your born with not made or given, artificial magic is the best way to explain it but I figured I'd give my thoughts. I'm still unsure about the whole host thing and why the orb seems sentient in a way but it might be cause it took a life 🤷 🤔 rather then having a living host to support it so.
“She’s gonna be fine, obviously.”
Me: Weeeelllll, physically, yes. Mentally? Not so much.
23:38 "Look at his Big Ol' Hammer"
Me: "That's what she said"
Yep that was the same bridge but also the song that Jinx is humming as she walks up after the Firelights bombs explode... That was the same song she was singing as a kid as Powder in the first minute of episode one
24:14 Vander snapped his neck, that guy is dead
I cried when Viktor ran, too. It’s a powerful moment
Deckard is very dead. Shimmered Vander literally snapped his neck in episode 3.
Wasn't he reading a book while Silco was threatening Marcus's daughter?
@@ar1i_k nah that's a different dude. Before everything went to shit (probably episode 2 if I remember correctly), when the enforcers were looking for the kids, he's the guy that hocked that nasty loogie on one of their shoes, before he got thrown through the window. Also I'm sure he was apart of Sevika's group before she joined forces under Silco.
@@ar1i_k No, that another henchman from back in the day. Deckard is Dead with a capital D. This guy is in scenes with Deckard there early on. He isn't named (likely as he has no speaking lines)
Did you catch how Viktor was about to surpass the boat, when he couldn't catch his own in his childhood flashback? I love subtle nods like that.
The lesson here isn't violence isn't the answer. Violence is an answer, but there is a price to pay. Mel's mom isn't wrong either. Killing the girl in the beginning of the episode was the prudent choice, because it prevents future challengers with aclaim to the captured throne from starting a war that might claim thousands. If you are in position of power and you recognize a threat, if you lack the will and ruthlessness to strike first and strike hard, you may end up slaughtered with your eyes closed, as we'll see in the next episode.
Season 2 already in production! Yay !
I can't wait for the finale!! I hope you guys react to some of the league of legends cinematics and also some of the 'top things you missed from arcane' videos such as:
"every arcane easter egg i found in season 1" by thinkstory and
"top 10 things you missed in Arcane" from watchmojo
They explain the easter eggs for League fans.
As for cinematics to react to these are my picks: 'a new dawn', "warriors", "the call", "call of power", "awaken", "absolution". those ones are some of my faves because they show a lot of different characters fighting!
TBH Hextech is a form of Industrial Revolution for Magic. Something that was only accessible to a small group of people is now accessible to anyone who can afford the price and as experience of our world in 19-20th century showed the population in general becomes more wealthy. This kind of technology should fundamentally reshape their world into before and after.
How can anyone not think the kid wasn't in the suit. Yeah and the suit just disappeared after he got blasted? And then all the shimmer in his body also disappeared? Man when people have an idea stuck in their head it just won't listen to reason, crazy.
Watching you go from "this is the coolest thing ever!!" to "oh, no..." in zero seconds flat is peak entertainment.
They weren’t all children, none of the guards in the suits were children. The kid that got shot was the same one that triggered the alarm. He got hit as the suit guy ran near him trying to escape Jace.
Singed is a great character, and I would even say he is the only "truly neutral" one. He just wants to make scientific progress in his own twisted way. He created shimmer for Silco, but at the time it was going to be a "power up" of sorts to help in the fight against Piltover. He helped Viktor, both psychologically when was a child and to improve his leg. And I'm sure he knew how dangerous Jinx was, and still saved her because he understood how Silco felt. And basically built the lore of various characters and regions XD
His only problem is his tendency to solve ANYTHING with shimmer.
I love the fact that this show has the guts to give us the big action set piece battle in the shimmer factory that the League fans especially had been wanting this whole time... and then to immediately take the pure satisfaction of it away by having the kid die like that. Battles have consequences, and being a "good guy" doesn't wash your hands of them.
Sky did help, she incidentally saved Viktor's life by sacrificing her own. the Hexcore was going to take Viktor but Sky got absorbed instead :(
The discussion at the end of this episode about Vi as a threat to Silco is perfect given how it started, with Mel, her mother, and the girl
She's a symbol of the old regime, and if she lives she could cause a rebellion among those who would still be loyal to Vander
24:19 I'm pretty sure Vander killed Deckard. His body went limp after Vander slammed him agains the wall.
Girls it's Firelights, not Fireflights
So, at time stamp: 24:24, while we're in the middle of the #jayceandvi team up, which's like the best team up of all time in the #arcane dimension/plane/universe/etc.
Here are all of the #LoLchampions in featured in #arcane: Jinx, Vi, Ekko, Jayce, Heimerdienger, Viktor, and Caitlin.
It does make things both better and worse to realize that the kids working in the shimmer factories probably work there of their own free will. This is not slave labour, they probably buy in Silco's propaganda and believe they are fighting for a cause. Shouldn't they be at school instead? Well, that's the thing: there aren't any school.
Symbolically, this is just so good: the kid is the one who raises the alarm and calls for the shimmer guards: his anger and hatred towards the enforcers call for the use of violence. And he is also the first casualty (the shot transition from the shimmer guard to him: the superposition makes the shimmer guard become him...!). Basically you have this motif: kid -> shimmer soldier -> kid. Each shimmer soldier was a kid of the undercity once; every violence these soldiers commit come from those kids' fury and feelings of injustice. Every violence retaliated against those soldiers falls down on those children, who pay for the violence and neglect of Piltover towards them. When Jayce looks up and sees all those other kids, he sees those he will have to fight. He sees the victims.
At about 14:58 if you pause, it looks like Dani’s head is on top of a shirtless, muscular man’s body.
Is so perfectly placed tho lol
the arcane powers of the crystals are harnessed by sorcerers who cast spells through their physiology/psychology (ep 2). while hextech is a technology that only harnesses the arcane energy and uses it to power machinery. It also seems to give it some other properties as its seems to bend time/space (the hexgates) and affect mass (light weight hammer/gauntlets). thats my understanding. its as comprehensive as tech in all other shows like marvel and so forth. lets be real, even though Tony Stark tosses scientific babble around, thats theoretical, no one understands shit. Heck, even real scientists dont understand their own therories to the fullest (quantum physics, the 4 powers, dimentions, etc.) : )
Danny with the Death the Kid shirt. Hell yeah
ya Dani likes soul eater
This hits different after the end of Fire Force
Apparently this isn't the first time Caitlyn brought a girl home through the window.
"sO i sEe"
"you and your... fRiENd"
Kid got hit by the crossfire like happens in war... fulfilling what Mel was getting at.
The kid that Jace shot wasn't in the suit. He sounded the alarm. the chem-tanks are guards held in stasis tell alerted to a threat. This show is so amazing.
Keep up the good work, ladies.
I think one of the writers said that this was a 6/7 year jump between ep3 and ep4
24:23 deckard had his neck snapped by vander :P
The suits are adults, the kid was shot by mistake. We know this because he was the one that pushed the fucking button. It's not hard to notice that. The kid doesn't magically become twice his size to fit in an adult sized suit.
its interesting that they never mentioned the doctors name..i mean he is in the game and he has a name but idk ... there is a season 2 btw its been confirmed
I love the update on the studio
Just a great series, thank you React Pack for giving us fans great shows. Love your My Hero Academia reactions always
that kid wasnt in a suit, it was just there. The suit guys jayce was trying to kill ran past the kid, but in the rage of Jayce he didnt relise the kid standing there and therefor shot the kid
also Jinx was standing in the right corner in the last scene.
dekhard was killed in the third episode when Vender transformed to save Vi,
I relate so much with victor and felt so bad about the whole thing.
I am disabled myself so I understand why he would risk doing that procedure without having enough shimmer (That is why the device consumed the other doctor)
Ultimately tho it was a dumb decision he should have gone back to the undercity to get more shimmer and everything would have been fine.
But maybe his decision was influenced by the high of success and the fact he had limited time to live.
He couldnt go back to the undercity cus of the blockade.
@@Buckheimer Dident he already do that despite the blockade which lead to his fight with jayce?
Again another failure on his part was not sharing everything with jayce.
Would be easy for him to get shimmer that way.
Dannie was right btw. It was the same bridge Vander and Silco fought on a long time ago
Vi strikes again bringing people down into the gutter with her. She’s cool but man does she never fully grasp the consequences of her actions. Just wants to throw hands and think never.
Dead ass lol
Thats exactly what her character is all about and i dont think we'll see any development evn after season 2. Punch first talk later!
@@Buckheimer Her ingame line is something like "Punch first .. ask questions while punching " :)
The undercity council isn't an actual council. They are Silcos people. They have areas of influence but they aren't elected or anything. Each one of them is a mini kingpin in the makeing.
Viktor is a fascinating character
Girl died cause she doesn't have shimmer in her veins
As a bonus, the scene where Viktor is running with the ship in the background is also a reference to the famous Theseus Paradox, which talks about "If you have a ship, and you start changing parts of it, repairing it completely but removing all the original wood from the ship, will it still be the same ship?"
It's not actually artificial magic, hextech is actually a combination of technology and magic.
For the last time it's Firelights not Fireflights. They're giving Fs to stuff that doesn't need it 😂
I would love to see you guys react to other league related stuff like K/DA music videos and such.
The kid was in the suit.

Marcus survived the little butterfly bomb just fine, but he was severely stunned, so Jinx walked up and shot him. I also don't think it's sad. Good riddance to bad rubbish; Marcus made every bit of trouble he had for himself of his own free will and dug the hole deeper at every turn. No sympathy.
