I'm so looking much forward to the last episode. Now you two fully understand why this series is one of the best animated series ever made. All the characters is so well done, and fleshed out.
What I love about the action scenes in this show is that they're not just there for the sake of being there. They're there because they help the plot progress. Fight scene in ep 3 results in the story's main tragedy, the one in ep 5 lets Silco know Vi is alive, the one in ep 6 causes Vi and Powder to be separated again, and so on.
And I really like how they all start hype but then the reality always sets in at the end that nobody is actually better off as a result of the conflict.
I loved one of the writer's description about her take on how fights should be as effective as a dialogue scene: you should always learn something new about a character and the results of the fight determines a turn in the plot direction.
30:45 Meesh is spot on here. Remember the doctor told VIktor that the shimmer variant he gave him had "everything he needed to survive a violent transition". When Viktor goes back to the lab he picks up the needle gun but it's empty. In his desperate state, he proceeds the transmutation without the shimmer in what very probably would've killed him, much like the plants in that previous episode.
One of the many things that make that make the writing of this show so great is that all of the major characters have a different perspective on the central conflict and none of them are 100% right or 100% wrong. It's not the good guys want peace and the bad guys want war. It's more complicated than that.
The behind the scenes/documentary of Arcane called Bridging The Rift is somehow just as enjoyable as Arcane. It's all on UA-cam, I highly recommend watching all the episodes after finishing the show. Really puts into perspective just how much love and effort was put into making this masterpiece.
I adore the subtle metaphor of the blood and water mixing in that final scene, showing that not everything that is different is completely incompatible. Not everyone from the undercity and topside are oil and water after all, winkwink
That fight scene is peak. The action, the visuals, that absolute banger of a song. Vi’s wink. A perfect combination. I remember the first time I saw it I felt emotional purely due to how fucking cool it all was.
Arcane writers doing what they do best. Getting you hyped with absolutely amazing, "heroic" violence, then smacking you down with the bitter reality of unintended consequences.
@@blackshard641 The fight scenes could have been cheesy and trying to force too much homage towards League of Legends, but on the contrary they were done very well. Combined with that music, I sincerely doubt anyone watching for the first time wasn't on edge.
Jinx watching Caitlin in the shower the same way Meesh was... Just want to point out - Caitlin's mom did NOT seem at all surprised to see her sneaking a girl into her bedroom...
I’ve always had a crush on Cait, but damn, 27:29, that facial expression and close shot with her hair wet, with her blue eyes shining with determination, bitting her lip like if she were thinking “No, this is not over, I won’t ever forget you”… By the way, Vi and cupcake are not oil and water, they are blood and water, and from the shower scene we can see they mix perfectly. And the music in that scene… excellent, as always. Also, I liked that they didn’t kiss during the rain scene. I mean, in S2 I want a better version of Mel and Jayce love scene of 1x5 with Cait and Vi as much as you, and I want them to kiss, but I feel like kiss in the rain is so cliché, so I was actually surprised that the producers went another way with it and made it more original.
When Singed (the doctor) asked Silco "Are you willing to lose her?" I don't think he meant her dying, I think he was already implying she wouldn't be the same person anymore afterwards.
Fun parallel with Victor. In the scene where he was a child playing with his toy boat, after her lets it go he struggles to keep up with it due to his illness/leg. He eventually falls over before following it into the cave. In this episode, after using the hex core, he is running along the docks, and eventually outpaces the boats in the background.
33:53 jinx/powder's eyes are actually grey! Whenever she's in proximity with hextech, they purposefully make her eyes reflect it to appear the same shade of blue, but on their own they're actually grey like vi's!
I’m a jaded 52 year old straight dude, and Caitlin and Vi’s love story is the best and most wholesome I’ve seen in popular media in decades. Thanks in big part to Fortiche’s masterful facial expressions which really sell subtle longing so well.
This show is a masterpiece. Purely and simply a masterwork. As to the eye color, even before shimmer, notice Powder's eye color in ep3 as Silco says 'We will show them all' Definitely no longer blue.
Before Mel's mom showed up, I'm pretty sure Mel was wanting to use force against the undercity, meanwhile Jayce was hesitant about using hextech for weapons. Once Mel's mom arrived in Piltover, she ended up convincing Jayce he needed to fight (the aftermath on the bridge also contributed to that) The opposite happened to Mel though, she seemed to be reminded of the warlike ways of Noxus and she changed her mind and wanted a peaceful solution. I just thought that was cool, they kind of switched roles for a little while.
disagreed. she never even once leaned towards war. she wanted weapons, sure. but she came from noxus, she knows the world outside of piltover. id want weapons too.
No. She wanted to be prepared defensively, in case things turned for the worse, not to launch an offensive. She's very unlike her mother. If you go back to her nightmare at the end we see the amulet in the blood pool, when Mel wakes up it transitions right into the painting that depicts that very scene. She despises her mother and everything she stands for. That's why she gave Jayce that look in the council, she saw that her mother got to his head.
I agree with you that the show did this subversion very well. Compared to Heimer, Mel seemed like a warmonger. Now that we get a comparison to a real warmonger, her mother, and consider her point of view; we have to admit that she has a point. Aggression and inaction aren't two options, but two extremes. Mel serves to show us what's in between
Love the imagery with Viktor. Last episode he couldnt run and chase to his toy boat, in this episode you have him running ahead of the ships in the background. His progression is awesome
What is so on point is how expressive the characters are with minute gestures and facial expressions. Everything has an extra touch to reveal their thoughts or personality in every scene. It imo what makes it so real despite the art style being intentionally artisitic
Something interesting about Noxus, the place where Mel and her mother are from, is that they are colonizers and conquerors. Their lands don’t have a lot of resources so they invade other lands to make them part of Noxus to expand their empire. Mel’s mother was probably sent by Swain to check on Piltover, since Noxus has been trying to get their hands on it for a while. That’s also why there are a bunch of ravens, Swain uses ravens to spy on countries from afar with the power of a demon that he has control over.
I think that's what Mel's been trying for the entire time she's been there. Scheming to turn Piltover into a puppet regime by subverting the council from the inside and becoming the shadow leader of the council by having everyone else in her pocket. After getting exiled, Mel is trying to prove herself (and her ways) to her mother. (Only to get what she thought she wanted in Ep. 9, and realize that's not her anymore.)
In western media, progress is usally depicted from left to right, but when Victor is running, he runs frim right to left. That also symbolizes progress, but in the wrong direction!
One thing i like about the story telling is how subtle yet how inportant Cait / Vi is. If they were not getting closer, then none of Jinx's delusions or fear of replacement would happen, neither would most of Vi's actions. It's there in plain sight for people to see, and without it the whole thing from episode 6 would play out completely differently.
So arcane did relate this to how have a drug lord and when they use kids and innocent civilians to make them work because the drug lord made it the only option for someone to work and provide food for their families. Jayce shooting the kid symbolize what Mel was talking about, their are always civilians caught in the crossfire.
It isn't the drug lord that is forcing kids to work for them. The system, represented by Jayce or the entire council is forcing them into the hands of drug lords for survival. I think we should never ignore how piltover is exploiting zaun and thereby creating a lot of the issues within zaun aswell as their own threats like Silco or Jinx.
I had never really thought about the eye color before, that was an interesting analysis towards the end. I will say that what I did notice was Powder's eye color as she's looking at these blue crystals being the same. In a sense, they both represented similar things: chaos, potential, and fate.
It’s also a perfect callback to his flashback. He lost his toy boat because it was faster than him, but in this scene he’s outrunning the boats in the background. This show is a masterpiece for stuff like this.
not sure if its already been commented but the scene with viktor running has more depth than most realise, he outruns a large ship in the background which is a callback to his backstory as a kid when he couldnt keep up with his little boat invention in the river
Yup, and also in the same style as her other painting, making it very clear she painted it herself. A reminder of what she probably considers to be the cost of failure in her scheming. On the balcony, in public, where every visitor can see it, is the painting of her home Noxus we saw her work on. But in private, in her bedroom, right above her bed, there's this. The Noxus painting shows up in two more scenes in Episode 9, different the second time, calling back to Young Mel's little speech in this episode's prologue. Mel's arc is probably the most subtle one among the main cast of this season, and being a politician and expert manipulator the way she presents herself and consciously interacts with others is very calculated, but the two paintings gives us glimpses into what's really going on with her.
i realy have to shut out the editor here for real, hes always doing so great work on these videos. with the background knowledge the league insides for people who doesnt play the game, pointing out easter eggs or methaphors. He is honestly making these videos what makes the big difference to other reaction videos.
Daw, thank you for watching along and enjoying the edits. I'm just a huge League nerd and hope to do M&D and the Arcane series some justice. Have a good one!
Also too, there are ALOT of easter eggs and other fine details that I let M&D in on behind the scenes, I'm usually holding back on the edits, lmao. I'd definitely recommend checking out breakdowns of all the edits and details some people have done on this show, it's INSANE how much the writers and animators pack into each scene.
There is such a beauty to the layers of the characters in this show. It's very easy to dismiss Silco as using Jinx, but here's the episode where the audience is forced to accept that he loves her as a father.
Information about heimerdinger: In the game he places mini cannons on the ground as one of his Skills. In lore, these cannons were originally made as children's toys, the intention was to shoot balls but Heimerdinger miscalculated the power of the cannons and many children died. When he hands the toy to the child here 15:27 it's hard not to think about it. 😪
someone has definitely already mentioned this but just in case it helps with clearing up any confusion; regarding victor's leg transformation and sky Victor's leg was already transformed before the sky incident. He had drawn/carved the runes on just his leg, injected himself with the shimmer variant the doc gave him, cut his hand and boom : Leg transformation. In this episode we see him walk and run for the first time ever with the new leg. He's hooked: he tries again; but this time with the runes carved essentially all over his body(much more than just a leg)....but he's out of shimmer, so he tries it without shimmer. sky interrupts and essentially becomes the sacrifice for his left hand. If you look closely you'll see his left hand has now also been transformed, but just the hand(that was touching the rune), not his whole arm. a lil weird how sky's whole life/body was a smaller sacrifice than a vial of shimmer. ---- remember the beginning of episode 7 where the doc tells him that the plants were dying and his experiments were failing because the problem was with the subjects not the experiments. So he pretty much needs to use shimmer to do it safely. If sky didn't show up when she did... its very likely victor would have died rapidly just like the plants. I think in season 2 we'll probably see him trying to get more shimmer so he can properly transform.
Love this episode! It really brings to a head the fact that everyone are complex characters and aren't just singularly motivated. It makes you look at everyone more deeply than just bad or good and I can't wait to see what they do next season after slowly bringing us the audience to that point!
"He's got a shimmer leg!?" No, he has a Hextech leg. The shimmer just allowed him to do that with his leg with the Hexcore and the runic inscriptions, without dying.
Meesh and Dee, it was realy nice rewatching the whole series up till now with you two, i like your videos, and all thats left to say before last episode is that i hope you know we had everything 😂..... you'll get what i ment after the finale, enjoy 😁👍 ....
I appreciate the gun cock sound affect Mr. / Mrs. editor. Every time i see Vi do that I think of henry cavill in mission impossible and the gun cocking.
I don't think the monster Vi ran away from was Silco. You're right, she always stood up to him. I think he monster she ran away from was herself after she hit Powder.
Somebody actually noticed that Marcus was just trying to follow Grace's example by making deals with Undercity crime bosses to keep things under control. His problem is that he sees or saw no difference between one Undercity citizen and another other. As far he was concerned, Vander and Silco were the same thing and that he was inherently superior to both of them by default. He eventually learned his lesson, but by then, he was in the spider's web, and because of that, so was his daughter. Show could've done a better job showing this though. I feel like the writers had bigger plans for Marcus' character, but sort of just abandoned him halfway through and then just killed him off.
What's really crazy about the council scene is that both sides have valid points with the information they have. They did an amazing job at showing different views.
Why is reload the page & create a new tab (shortcuts) night next to one another. I wrote so much for it all to be erased... well, time to write it again. When she was first introduced, I wasn't a huge fan of Mel. She seemed to be using Jayce, distracting him from his obligations to Viktor. The bond Jayce & Viktor had seemed to diminish after she came into his life. But in this episode, she really held her ground. We witness that even at an early age, Mel was opposed to senseless bloodshed, even so far as to accept being expelled by her own mother no less. Instead of taking the easy path, going against her morals, she still sticks to them. Mad respect for not compromising onesself for acceptance or easy gain. It's not surprising Silco & Jinx developed a father/daughter bond. It seems pretty apparent now looking back at it. Silco trusts Jinx to inject his eye, he makes excuses for her when she messed/acts up (even so far as to blame his subordinates instead), he cares about her feelings. He couldn't hide his emotions when he saw Jinx lying there seemingly dead. Sure, he had the blue orb, but what he had to lose to get it (I believe) was too much for him. He was already in the first stage of grief: denial, when he bright Jinx to Singed. Anger's second, so probably best Singed roofied Silco, just in case Jinx couldn't be saved. At 06:53 that's when it feels like Jayce's stance changed. It was at that moment that he realized sitting idly by wasn't going to stop all this senseless bloodshed & his talk with Mel's mother is what cements it. While on the contrary, Mel sees it as a future if the violence is allowed to continue. Instead of furthering hostilities between both sides, it sounds like she wants to find a resolution that everyone can accept. Mel's eyes at the end of that scene, they're determined. You know Caitlyn's infatuated by Vi by how she defends Vi every chance she gets. The way she introduces Vi to her mother, it's almost like she's telling her, "Deal with it, mom (sorry, mum), Vi's from the Undercity." It's nice to see that the father's supportive. He doesn't seem to be worried about Vi, just cares about his daughter's safety & happiness. That pause, when Caitlyn introduces Vi to the councilors, "Even though we *pause* failed her", it's almost like she regrets saying we; the way she directly looks at Vi almost gives the impression she wants Vi to know she meant herself, that she (Caitlyn) failed her (Vi). Then stopping herself from implementing Jinx, the woman that blew her up (twice), & killed her fellow enforcers, is just further proof that Caitlyn likes Vi. Mel's mother isn't wrong. The council's actions haven't resolved the tensions between the Undercity & Piltover. What Topside does to the Undercity isn't right either, so it feels wrong to say Piltover should just go down there & wipe the Undercity out because it's their (Topside) fault. If they'd "gave a shit" about them, then they would've turn to two-bit gangsters for salvation. Good thing we just watched Saving Private Ryan, because a certain nation in the 1930, after losing WWI, with a dead economy, with starving people, turned to one man who promised salvation. What I'm getting at here is that two wrongs don't make a right. Mel's on the right track, that diplomacy's the right path, but instead of trying to kill the organization at the head, she needs to kill it with a lot of little cuts. Also, "I'm off to sample the local cuisine." I shudder every time I hear that. I hope Caitlyn understood what Vi was saying, after she asked her what happened to Power, because in simple terms Vi admitting to creating Jinx, & it hurts her so much inside. Regardless of whether or not she was captured, Vi personally believes it was because of her that Powder turned into Jinx. Ever since learning Power was still alive, & discovering what she'd become, it's like an open wound that keeps being reopened. If you haven't seen the Hunger Games movies, I'd suggest giving them a watch, because watching Singed save Jinx, gives me flashbacks to one of the Hunger Games books. That's all I'm going to say about that, don't want to say too much if those who haven't watched it decide to. The fact that Jinx feels so threatened by Caitlyn could be seen as a good sign for how Jinx feels towards Vi, right(?), because it means Jinx wants to be that close to Vi again. Also got to respect Heimerdinger for being the only councilors (current or former) to properly visit the Undercity. Also, we know Marcus' dead because they showed the body, but the fact that they didn't show Ekko's should tip off the fact that he wasn't really dead. I wonder what they're going to accomplish now that they're together (I don't remember what happens with them). It's such a shame Sky had to die. She wasn't flesh out, but it was obvious how much she liked Viktor; worrying about his health, asking him out to venues, concerning herself when he slept in the lab. Her sacrifice allowed Viktor to run (if I'm watching this right). I want to draw a parallel between this & Fullmetal Alchemist, but I don't want anyone who hasn't watched that anime to get spoiled. Watch it, & then hopefully you see it too. I swear, this episode had so many good tracks. From the somber tones during the council scene, Vi's & Caitlyn's goodbye, Viktor's scenes, & the fight scene. Everything keeps one upping itself every episode. That's just how it is, an expectation for each episode. Alright, I was going to post a video that related to the shower scene, but it had a spoiler for episode 9; so, instead of that, I'm going to post a funny comment I saw on it. That moment when you realize Jinx saw Caitlyn naked before Vi did. Okay, I'm out, super thrilled that another Arcane episode came out, while also pretty sad too. But there's always November for Season 2. Thank you again for humoring my outrageously long essay, till next time. =^._.^=
theres a song called oil and water by a queer artist called PVRIS and it was a missed pitch song for the caitvi scene when they were talking about oil and water its so good pls check it out on your free time !
I actually love Mel’s mom, it’s such a fun trope subversion, giving us something we don’t normally see. I also love that this episode uses her Mom’s aggressiveness (and the death of her brother) to humanize Mel.
As many reactors as I've watched, I haven't ever seen anyone remark or wonder about where Mel's mom (Ambessa) is! And now you have me noodling it for a moment, and I think we can safely say this is a wing at the Medarda estate. Our clues are Jase looking around as if he hasn't seen this area before, so it isn't the main area, and the mural of war, consistent with what we know of Noxus culture and of the Medardas. The scene has a subtle underscore for how wealthy the Medardas are, as this is essentially an opulent estate as embassy.
Yeah agreed, I think this is a "bathroom" in Mel's estate. The mural on the walls matches the stucco? we see in the background in Mel's office(?) the first time we see her in episode 2.
13:30 I feel the meaning behind the "and then a real monster showed up....." line can be taken so many different ways. 1) The obvious one is Silco, with Vi abandoning Powder to him. 2) Vi saw herself as a monster for being capable of hurting Powder during a moment of despair; seeing it as a personal failing of hers. 3) Powder is the monster, with her revealing her more reckless and unstable side, with Vi then not doing anything to guide Powder towards a different path.
As ruthless as Ambessa is, you can tell by the look in her eye, it pained her to tell Mel her brother died. It's Mel's reactions that upset her so much.
I’ve watched this show a million times already but when Cait said “what about us” for some reason watching your reaction it reminded me of the break up song from High School Musical 2 😂
Arcane was so fascinating. It made me absolutely invested in a romance more than I have ever felt from any form of media. It also feels like it's something I shouldn't be allowed to understand. Being a straight male. The Vi/Cait stuff is amazing. I literally almost feel like everything I am seeing should be for their eyes only............and they are animated fictional characters. It's wild.
5:18 It's not in the reaction cut, but notice the transition from the bloodied medallion to her painting. 13:16 Makes more sense knowing about Powder's psychosis though. She probably did think the monsters were real. 16:00 He's the founder of the city. lol 16:45 The background... Foreshadowing of Noxus invading Piltover for the hex tech? 26:18 He wasn't inside. It ran past the kid. It's a consequence of war and Jayce realized that in that moment. Vi on the other hand, just like with Vander, still tries to solve things with her fists. I'm glad our pretty girl got some "redemption". Not that she needed it really, since she didn't actually do anything bad, but pretty much everyone thinks she has ulterior motives when she's just doing politics. I think you could always see that she was a good person whenever things got personal, even if it often just was portrayed subtly through the micro expressions within her face.
Skye was the little girl who was watching Viktor play with his toy boat. Skye grew up to become a scientist and follow Viktors career. Skye Became his right hand man in his lab. Skye became his right hand...
I just love how Vi's like "You morons! You can't negociate with Silco!" Spoilers Litterally next episode "Jayce and Silco chlling and negociating" XD I l like Vi but damn, she's thick as castle wall, boxing ain't great for your braincells
I may be wrong (and probably am), but I thought that the reason Shy was killed was because she didn't have any of the shimmer variant in her system that Viktor had from the vial he received from Synged. That was what Synged meant by saying that it would help Viktor survive the violent transition. Sky didn't have the shimmer variant so she couldn't survive.
While it's a super cool fight scene, Jayce killing a kid the first time he gets his weapon symbolizes how people feel powerful and end up killing inocent people irl
After watching S1 of Fallout, hearing Jinx’s voice just makes me picture Fallout’s Lucy, the actress is Jinx’s VA. Another phenomenal show y’all should check out
31:10 - Jayce killing the kid in collateral damage is not far off from Vander in Episode 1. Vander was first shown in the smoke beating a guy to death, but then he sees Violet and Powder + their dead mom. Both events shake the characters.
The reson why Sky died and not Viktor is becouse of the shimmer varient that he got from Singed in the undercity. The shimmer was a stabilising agent in the process which keps Viktor safe. Sky dident have any of that injected before hand so just like the early plants her body rejected the transformation and got destroyed instead. Sky´s body simply dident have the resiliant that the shimmer varient gave Viktor to survive the process. What made the deal betwinn Grason and Vander work was that it was an understanding of respect and abit of compromising. We stay out of your buisness if u guys stay out of ours sort of deal and it worked becouse both Piltover and the undercity benefited from it and they both knew the chaos that it would cause if they dident keep the situation in check. Markus may have thought he could have done the same but Silco dosent care about the outcome aslong as he gets what he wants and u cant make deals with a guy like that. By the time Markus figuered that out it was already to late. Also if u think that Singed (Undercity Doctor) did some questionable things in Arcane then u should read some of hes League of Legends lore storys. Singed is the very definition of a mad scientist and he simply dosent care about any suffering what so ever so long as hes getting something benefitial out of hes experiments. Hes Arcane version is tame by comparison. They also did a good job of showing the general ide of how Noxus where the Medardas are from is run. The whole ide in Noxus is that if u think u are better at something then the guy doing it then stop talking about it and prove that u can take it and do it better. Noxus ide is that they value strenght over all. This scene dident make it into this video but before they show the mom killing the girl is a good example as she says "I would give u the world child, if u can prove u can take it" It dosent always mean brutal combat but often it can get to that point hense why most of Noxus leadership within various areas of the country are very powerful warriors or mages. The "after victory cinematic" showed this perfectly.
The real question in my mind is whether the youths in the Shimmer factory were, in fact, slaved -- or whether they took this opportunity for income and safety, given what everyday life has started to look like in the Undercity. Along those lines, are those in the combat Shimmer-suits being well compensated to stay on guard and in reserve just in case of any problems? We don't know for sure, from what's shown, but a lot is implied. There's so much nuance on every perspective in this show, which is one of the reason I love it so much. Can't wait to see your reaction to the finale!
Well, the boy that Jayce killed was the son of one of the Chem-barons. So, maybe all the youths are required to work there (except the ones Ekko saves).
@@ckhayne2 The Undercity is living in poverty and their original main industry was mining, I'm assuming child labor is normal for them. (Nor do I think there's much in the way of schools or similar that they would have access to to spend their time instead.) In the early industrial revolution, kids started working in coal mines as young as 5 years old and were often dead before they hit 25. If anything, I'm taking Renni's son working in the Shimmer factory as a sign that 1. this is probably among the cushiest and most prestigious jobs available for Undercity children his age, 2. even the Chembarons, ostensibly the (comparatively) richest and most powerful denizens of Zaun, can't afford to not have their children work, whether it's because they need the money or to maintain appearances to their underlings.
Little late to the party, but I have to say Mel Medarda is my favorite character out of all the brilliant characters in this series. This episode entirely changes your perspective on who she is and why she does what she does. Edit: "It's not just good and bad people" - that's what makes the characters so fantastic, they're real people.
16:33 i love this scene, mom Medarda is naked and blind folded but it's Jace that is acting blind and naked. (looking away and being generally uncomfortable)
I always believe that when vi says a real monster showed up and I just ran away. She means when jinx first appeared in powder after episode 3. Vi never ran from silco or deckard.

@@lgbtorionwho’s ur fav character? Bc it feels like u have some kind of personal energy towards Mel. Vi, Jinx, Viktor, Jayce, etc. are all characters that ppl like yet they have created the most destruction.
@@chaedi8457 I always liked her. She simply was doing politics, which people somehow took the wrong way. But whenever things got personal you could see it in her face that she meant well. I'm glad they gave her some "redemption" in the end.
Give a good look at the scene at 17'17". Jacen standing in the way of an army, while talking with momma Medarta. If that's not foreshadowing, I don't know what it is.
This show's writing is amazing. I agree about there being no bad characters. Silco is so complex in a way I did not expect back when he killed Vander. I really wanted to hate him, but man, his story arc is powerful. I have loved watching this with you two! It was so great to have other queer people respond to the love story with Caitlin and Vi and be as hype as I was about it! Can't wait to watch your final Arcane episode video.
this show has surface level writing at best and silco absolutely is bad. just because he isn’t evil for the sake of being evil doesn’t mean he’s not evil at all.
With Marcus, I think you're right that he was just trying to follow Grayson's footsteps in working with the Undercity. However, the problem is that unlike Grayson who had Vander, Marcus was stuck with working with someone like Silco.
This is one of my fave eps in the show. The fight scene is basically a love letter to LoL players since we get to see Jayce and Vi do their thing. Some trivia when it comes to the fight scene; one of the artist featured is the voice actor for Fin (yellow jacket cyberpunk lookin' ass who hates Silco). I also love how one of you said 'here comes Vi' as Vi comes rushing in. When Vi got released back in 2012, she had a login theme song. In the song, the artist says 'Here comes Vi'. Anyways, A lot of character development also happened. Especially with Mel, but this episode really confused me when it comes Mel's motives. Earlier in the season, Mel was trying to convince Jayce to start making weapons which Jayce refused. But in this ep, when Jayce was wanting to go take action, and all the sudden Mel is like 'Jayce, you don't know war.' I've seen this show and watched countless reaction channels to this, and I'm still confused on Mel's character motives. All things considered, my fave part of this ep is Darth Heimer.
One thing I never see anyone bring up is how when Vi goes back to the bridge, she had a choice to either look for survivors (Jinx) or find the cannister. She chose the cannister, Silco chose Jinx.
This show is just too good 😩 we don't want it to end!

It ends on an explosive cliffhanger!
Next season soon!
@@TheMrPeteChannel That depends on your interpretation. Imo it was a great conclusion to the main story arc.
I'm so looking much forward to the last episode. Now you two fully understand why this series is one of the best animated series ever made. All the characters is so well done, and fleshed out.
Are you doing the bridging the rift reactions?
On my first watch, I didn't notice Jinx standing in the corner staring at Cait. When I did notice, I almost had a heart attack.
So terrifying!!
Oof. How did you heart took the you know what scene in the next episode then?
Caitlyn is down so fucking bad for Vi. She's known Vi for a whole 3 days and she's full on "what about us" in the rain.

What I love about the action scenes in this show is that they're not just there for the sake of being there. They're there because they help the plot progress. Fight scene in ep 3 results in the story's main tragedy, the one in ep 5 lets Silco know Vi is alive, the one in ep 6 causes Vi and Powder to be separated again, and so on.
exactly, i like how hyped up the fight scene in episode 8 is, just makes it more impactful when the music stops and what jayce has done is revealed
"Here Comes Vi" 😆 Your editor being a League nerd is incredible. Well done with all of these reactions.
I really miss Turbo Chemtank in the base game. :P
Thanks for watching!
It also shows how powerful shimmer is. With his little shimmer bottle he replaced his whole leg, but the whole body of Skye only replaced his hand.
We just reacted to this and is on our Patreon already :) will be posting an edited version for YT in the coming weeks! ❤️🙏🏼
🤩🤩
Didn't one of the writers confirm that it wasn't the first time?

We feel you so much! 🥹❤️
Mel serves to show us what's in between
Amazing how deep every character is in this. You start out expecting stereotypes, then learn everyone is complex.
I think the sauna scene with Mel’s mom was her being in a power stance even while getting a bath/massage. That leg-spread stance meant something imo.
Man one thing that always happens with reactions to this episode is people thinking the kid was in the suit lol It's the kid who pressed the alarm
I thought that the first time too.
The penultimate episode! Here we goooooo!!
LFGGG 🤩
One thing i like about the story telling is how subtle yet how inportant Cait / Vi is. If they were not getting closer, then none of Jinx's delusions or fear of replacement would happen, neither would most of Vi's actions. It's there in plain sight for people to see, and without it the whole thing from episode 6 would play out completely differently.
The way this series goes about humanizing its stoic characters is so good.
25:00 editor, you killed me here with the loading sfx :D

Balsamic Vinaigrette saving relationships lmfao!
Well the alternatives are soap or a lot of beating.
The victor running scene may be my favorite scene in the entire show! With the music and the cinematography it’s perfect!
Did you catch that when Mel wakes up after the flashback, the painting above her bed is the blood on thefloor in the last scene of the flashback?
A reminder every time she goes to bed.

Broke: Silco is the villain
Woke: Heimerdinger is the villain for ignoring the undercity for literal decades and letting it get to this point.
Okay, Ill watch Episode 9 again tonight.
Also, props to the editor.
Thanks for watching along with! I hope you stay tuned also for their League lore dive!
There is such a beauty to the layers of the characters in this show. It's very easy to dismiss Silco as using Jinx, but here's the episode where the audience is forced to accept that he loves her as a father.
Both can be true.
silco is absolutely using jinkx and no amount of “love” he convinces himself he has for her erases that
Information about heimerdinger: In the game he places mini cannons on the ground as one of his Skills. In lore, these cannons were originally made as children's toys, the intention was to shoot balls but Heimerdinger miscalculated the power of the cannons and many children died.
When he hands the toy to the child here 15:27 it's hard not to think about it. 😪
someone has definitely already mentioned this but just in case it helps with clearing up any confusion; regarding victor's leg transformation and sky
Victor's leg was already transformed before the sky incident.
I’m hyped for the league cinematics reaction. This world is the perfect fantasy world

@@Shythalia makes me think she's important in S2
We've actually seen Momma Medarda's "local cuisine" before. He was in the Undercity brothel that Vi and Caitlyn visited.
Man when I saw this was up I got so excited! Another great reaction of another great episode!!
Mama Medarda is one of my favorite characters, glad you finally get to meet her!
Yo editor I hadn't clocked the shimmer guards as turbo chemtanks thanks for that one
Ay! I'm just a League nerd. Have a cupcake! 🧁
Headcannon is that Vi and Cait 1000% kissed in that scene on the bed
Happy Thursday Meesh and Dee. I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.
❤️❤️❤️
Arcane was so fascinating. It made me absolutely invested in a romance more than I have ever felt from any form of media. It also feels like it's something I shouldn't be allowed to understand. Being a straight male. The Vi/Cait stuff is amazing. I literally almost feel like everything I am seeing should be for their eyes only............and they are animated fictional characters. It's wild.
5:18 It's not in the reaction cut, but notice the transition from the bloodied medallion to her painting.
13:16 Makes more sense knowing about Powder's psychosis though. She probably did think the monsters were real.
16:00 He's the founder of the city. lol
16:45 The background...
You can't negociate with Silco!"
Spoilers
Litterally next episode "Jayce and Silco chlling and negociating" XD I l like Vi but damn, she's thick as castle wall, boxing ain't great for your braincells
24:51 "vi has so much rizz"
well, I guess you couldn't expect anything else from a Hailee Steinfeld character
This show.... every episode keeps getting better!! So excited for you to see the finale!
While it's a super cool fight scene, Jayce killing a kid the first time he gets his weapon symbolizes how people feel powerful and end up killing inocent people irl
I dont normally comment but I wanted to say...
I see you editor.
Have a cupcake! 🧁
“She looks like Marcus’s daughter” speaking like a true Arcane fan now
The reson why Sky died and not Viktor is becouse of the shimmer varient that he got from Singed in the undercity.
The "after victory cinematic" showed this perfectly.
balsamic vinegar comment is underrated i laughed so hard my stomach cramped up
The real question in my mind is whether the youths in the Shimmer factory were, in fact, slaved -- or whether they took this opportunity for income and safety, given what everyday life has started to look like in the Undercity.
Sky disintegrated because she did not have the shimmer variant that is the catalyst for organic matter to not rot like the plant on episode 6.
Mel is about being in control but finding mutually beneficial solutions, her mom is just about separating heads from bodies.
“mutually beneficial” for who? her?
If you watch more League content or cinematics, a must is the intro for Fiddlesticks.
Sometimes the crows aren't crows..
Little late to the party, but I have to say Mel Medarda is my favorite character out of all the brilliant characters in this series. This episode entirely changes your perspective on who she is and why she does what she does.
Edit: "It's not just good and bad people" - that's what makes the characters so fantastic, they're real people.
16:33 i love this scene, mom Medarda is naked and blind folded but
it's Jace that is acting blind and naked.
(looking away and being generally uncomfortable)
I always believe that when vi says a real monster showed up and I just ran away. She means when jinx first appeared in powder after episode 3. Vi never ran from silco or deckard.
Here is a good list of trailers that you can watch get an idea of what the rest of Runeterra looks like. I've selected the trailers that are both spoiler-free to Arcane watchers and mostly take place outside of Piltover and Zaun. I've also picked most of the good ones as well. Definitely gives you a bit of worldbuilding and what we could look forward to in other seasons of Arcane.

~~The current day ~~
I love how so many reactors react to the “schedule”
It was so nice for Jinx to wait until Cait got done showering.
I really like that y’all understood Mel more this episode. So many people still misunderstood her even after this episode.
This episode is what really had me fall in love with Mel. Looking back on it, I agree with pretty much every stance she has had in the show.
just because her character can be understood does not mean she’s likable or that her actions are valid
@@lgbtorionwho’s ur fav character? Bc it feels like u have some kind of personal energy towards Mel. Vi, Jinx, Viktor, Jayce, etc. are all characters that ppl like yet they have created the most destruction.
@@lgbtorion what action do you feel she should have not taken?
@@chaedi8457 I always liked her. She simply was doing politics, which people somehow took the wrong way. But whenever things got personal you could see it in her face that she meant well. I'm glad they gave her some "redemption" in the end.
Forced to be in Silco' s army? Well, in the 2 episode kids of the Undercity were glad to fight topsiders, so there's no need to force anyone, really.
@@lgbtorion 😆Ok. I mean that's a great strawman you constructed just now but go off, I guess.
You know jedi wear a cloak and hood at times to right? Including Yoda
Super excited to see you react to other league content ;)
shout out to the Vietnamese coffee scene holding it down in Seattle right now
One thing I never see anyone bring up is how when Vi goes back to the bridge, she had a choice to either look for survivors (Jinx) or find the cannister. She chose the cannister, Silco chose Jinx.
“she’s big” about ambessa lmao 😭
