I know the simplest method
Add eq1,2,3 and 4
x+y+p-q+x+p++y+q=8+6+13+8
So 2(x+y)+2p=35
So 2×8+2p=35 (bec x+y=8)
So 2p=35-16
So 2p=19
So p=19/2=9.5
From p we can find others value

From equ. 1st, y=8-x
From equ. 4th we can put 8-x at place of y= (8-x)+q=8, So, q=8-(8-x) = 8-8+x
From equ. 3rd, p= 13-x
In equ. 2nd, we can put (13-x) at place of p and (8-8+x) at place of q= (13-x)-(8-8+x)=6 so, x= 3.5(After solving)
Now, you can find value of p, q and y... :)

four we get x+y+p+q=13+8=21
Put the value of x+ y=8
We get p+q=21-8=13
Also p-q =6
So we have by adding these
2p =19
p=9.5andq=3.5
x =3.5 y =4.5
Now we have values of all the four variables namely x, y.,p and q

Don't mind but stop watching these mediocre or below average Math channels. Here's why.
This question can be solved in extremely simple way instead of method on video.
Let,
upper left corner value = x
So,
value in square next to x = (8 - x)
And,
value in square below x = (13 - x)
So,
Lower right corner value
= 13 - x - 6 = (7 - x)
Second vertical equation adds to 8 as per given information.
So,
8 - x + 7 - x = 8
Solving,
2x = 7
x = 3.5
Then use value of x to find (8 - x), (13 - x) and (7 - x). Simple as that.
Just make sure to start watching good UA-cam Math channels like Mind Your Decisions. That'll really make your Math skills stronger.

The puzzle is:

This puzzle can be solved by assuming only two variables x and y.
Let's start
Ans. [ x ] + [ y ] = 8

[ y+5 ] - [ x ] = 6

x + y = 8 ...... ( i )
Now, y + 5 - x = 6
=> y - x = 1. ......( ii )
Adding eq. ( i ) and ( ii ),
2y = 9
=> y = 4.5
Putting y = 4.5 in eq. ( i ),
x + 4.5 = 8
=> x = 8 - 4.5 = 3.5
Now, y + 5 = 4.5 + 5 = 9.5
Putting value of x, y and y + 5 in the puzzle, our answer becomes:
[ 3.5 ] + [ 4.5 ] = 8

A very simple question which can be solved in less than minute, made so complicated. Just assume first number as x.
X+(8-x)=8
(13-x)-x=6
2x=13-6=7
X=3.5
Substituting value of x all unknowns can be calculated.
