I like how you added the tracks in the background to reference your talking points, It definitely helped a lot to see where you're referring to especially for such a massive album. I didn't even know this was done until I was listening to this review with headphones on.
I always interpreted I Was a Prisoner in your Skull’s field recording section as being the ‘narrator’s’ brain giving the monologue. A prisoner in their skull that has to show them how to do every day tasks….
Really glad to hear that someone else sheds a tear without fear every time Helpless Child starts to reach climax. That song is still the most emotionally impactful song I've ever heard.
Great video man. Ive heard not an immense amount of music but more than the average person, and to me this is the best album ever recorded, with helpless child being the best song ever recorded. This album sounds like it fell from a rift in the sky, completely bizarre and uncanny.
Love the enthusiasm, but after Helpless Child you said "the next track is Yum-Yab Killers"... and you skipped over "Live Through Me", which is my favorite song on the whole album. Come on, man!
Fuck me, a few years ago i was on mushrooms and we thought this album was some relaxing abient shit. I was a prisoner in your skull came on and was like no no no no
Great review, Soundtracks is one of my favorite albums of all time and you really hit the nail on the head describing most of the songs on it. as far as suggestions go I'd like to see you review Can's Tago Mago or maybe Future Days, two classic krautrock records that were extremely influential to rock music. Anyway, best of luck on your channel.
Can you do an Essential Review of Weezers Blue Album, it holds such a special place in my heart and in the hearts of nerds everywhere, and without many people wouldn't have even got into music or made music because they thought they had to be a rock god
PLEASE do the Swans retrospective you mentioned in your Filth review. I realize that was like 2 years ago, but I'd watch it a couple hundred thousand times so you could get the ad revenue required to rationalize spending a week making it.
For the lack of melody, I can say it’s definitely an experimental album for sure. If only every song didn’t sound like an intro and actually had “music” in it, I would probably have an easier listen to it. Not good to me, but it’s whatever, the first 10 songs are booty, if you could, please tell me why you hate or love the album cuz I really don’t get it
Why do I get the feeling that the recent Swans albums tries to out do Soundtracks for the Blind? The Seer, To Be Kind, & The Hollow Man are double Album epics that feel much more organized & has structured, but I can’t help but imagine Michael Gira being envious of the band’s 1996 masterpiece that he continues to motivate himself to have less people to give high regards to Soundtracks for the Blind with his new material.
I hate this album so much…totally droning and aimless and unmelodic, and it’s just some of my least favorite music and sounds ever for TWO AND A HALF HOURS!
Michael and I made this record : thank you for the attention. best cg
thank u so much for this album. fantastic job dude
Mixed and mastered to perfection. Thank you for this masterpiece
Unbelievable engineering on this album, thank you!
❤❤
Thanks
Swans is ONLINE
Lmaooo
"Red Velvet Corridor" is secretly one of the most disturbing songs on the album. It's like it's hiding something.
yeah, i feel the same about surrogate 2
*laughs in volcano*
@@aubreyskipper9642that's not really hidden though most of the lyrics are in your face great track though
One of the most unsettling songs I’ve ever heard. The way that lead string melody comes in is beautiful in some sort of messed up way
And wide are your delusions
Deep red is the space behind your eyes
Closed forever is the door to your room
But inside there lives *the sound*

The Sound...
YES
It's literally the greatest album ever created.
this i can agree with
I can agree with your agreement.
I agree with the agreement
I can understand this being considered the greatest album of all time (my 2nd favourite behind Deathconsciousness)
@@kaidare503 Deathconsciousness is my number two choice heck
Really glad to hear that someone else sheds a tear without fear every time Helpless Child starts to reach climax. That song is still the most emotionally impactful song I've ever heard.
Props to you for actually pronouncing Gira correctly
All lined up is actually a version of a song from Micheal Giras Drainland album. I prefer the version on STFTB though.
the swans are dead version is the best imo
Great video man. Ive heard not an immense amount of music but more than the average person, and to me this is the best album ever recorded, with helpless child being the best song ever recorded. This album sounds like it fell from a rift in the sky, completely bizarre and uncanny.
My favourite song has to be Empathy! And I have a very special connection to Hypogirl.
Empathy is great.
did you know that empathy is based on a short story of the same name written by michael gira? it's in his book "the consumer"
very nice to see someone giving this album a review. Definitely a favorite of mine.
Love the enthusiasm, but after Helpless Child you said "the next track is Yum-Yab Killers"... and you skipped over "Live Through Me", which is my favorite song on the whole album. Come on, man!
Live through me is a great little track for sure and I kinda wish there was full on version of it with lyrics to go along with it.
Fuck me, a few years ago i was on mushrooms and we thought this album was some relaxing abient shit. I was a prisoner in your skull came on and was like no no no no
It's definitely a wild experience for sure.
PSA: Never EVER listen to "I Love You This Much" before bed.
It's like something straight out of a horror game soundtrack!

Nice review. You sure are very passionate.
(Soundtracks for the Blind) is definitely an experience for sure.
It contains a lot elements from their works that came before this and a lot of elements that would define the post Hiatus Trilogy from the 2010s.
At the same time though in some aspects is not like anything they've ever made before nor made ever since.
Blood Section blows my mind
literally
The drum fills toward the end are especially awesome

Great review. You bring alot of energy!
Great Video! You explain your points really well.

One thing that I don't like of any studio album is when artists add live stuff in, I remember a Jarboe live here and a couple songs more live.
that album still hasn't clicked with me.
Great review man
Why are you better than Fantano?

Excellent review, thanks!
Do you listen to it in one sitting?
Yes, but if you dont have the time two sittings on the same day is ok as well.
This is one of the most confusing and interesting albums of all time
That description is definitely not far off.
I kinda feel the same way if I'm being honest.
Have you listened to any other albums from SWANS?
@@godzilla5742 Yeah. It really goes as far out as they can to make it seem as adventurous and unique as possible, and that's why I like it so much
@@godzilla5742 I once listened to To Be Kind, but that didn't go so well. Looking back that album was actually pretty good

the hollow man lmao
Wait, so your saying he wants less praise for Soundtracks for the Blind? That's a pretty neat and odd fact of information, did he ever say that?
Their best album? Perhaps...
No contest, honestly. Filth, To Be Kind and The Seer are all great, don‘t get me wrong, but nothing will ever usurp Soundtracks For The Blind.
:)
