  • Too many brushes huh? I started thinking that as well. But then I really started to think about what I look for in a brush, and other than a functional handle I really just struggle decide animal hair & synthetic. BUT...what if I could keep the handle and simply swap knots on the fly? Enter the Switchback 400.
If you are curious about picking up a Switchback 400 here is the link:

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary?

I feel like this is the brush you buy when you tell yourself that you won’t be buying new brushes any more but know that’s a lie🤣 It is a pretty neat concept and appreciate your review man🤙🏻

I’m super interested in what technique you used to glue the knots in.

Edwin Escobar I purchased Gorilla glue 2 part epoxy, mixed on a plate, used a tongue depressor stick to place the epoxy in the ferrule on the base of the knot that I had already inserted at the desired depth (JUST above the threads). Using a tooth pick I moved the epoxy around the edges of the base of the knot and between it and the ferrule. Held for 5 minutes then let sit on desktop overnight. Only need around 24hrs to fully cure.

The Shaving Tulsan yup, I fucked mine up lol. I used too much glue and some of the glue pushed up into the knot. Oh well time to buy a new Ferrule and try again.

Edwin Escobar a little spillage towards the knot is fine with me since epoxy expands when curing, but depends on how far it goes lol. But that sucks :/

NIce review! I'm definitely in the lookout for one of the vintage 400 brushes. I just don't know if I want one more brush... perhaps next year. :)

my Simpson T3 Trafalgar is the best brush on the market today it's like buying a $200 badger hair brush, no cleaning the brush, no need for a brush stand, fast drying time, well not fall apart like a badger hair can, cheap to buy,
i have owned it for 5 years with no problems wheelchair Larry
