Kid Sized Adirondack Chair

  • Whenever I am sitting outside, the moment I get out of my chair, my granddaughter rushes over to sit where I was sitting. While I don't mind her sitting in Pop's chair, I thought that she might like to have a chair of her own. So on this week's show, with no pattern and a "fly by the seat of my pants" attitude, I demonstrate how to make a kid sized Adirondack chair. I hope you enjoy the project and the show.

    Doing for grandkids is a very rewarding feeling... I have made some simple tablet stands for mine to use when at my house and they liked them enough to ask Pa Pa to make them one each for home.... Keep on designing and building Pop...

    A really great chair for a child (BTW your granddaughter is cute and looks happy sitting in the chair that PAPA made for her), I hate painting wood but there are times when you really have no choice specially when the item is going to be left to the elements, the back runner support does not look long, sometimes people forget that for a child 2 to 5yo needs that extra support plus it's a good place to add some toy storage just by adding a base between the back legs, Thank you Ken for always taking time out of your busy week to post a video it is well worth it, have a pleasant weekend be safe

      It has been a while since this video was filmed and the chair has seen extensive use. Just as an update, the design works well and there is no issues with the length of the back runners. She couldn't tip this chair over if she wanted to. LOL. Now that I've said that, it sounds like a challenge. Thanks for tuning in to the show Alan and for taking the time to leave the kind words and suggestions. It's very much appreciated.

    Kenny, great design for just winging it. Seems as though the size is just right for your granddaughter. Makes me wish my grandkids were small again. My two cents for paint…white enamel with her initial in hot pink on the back. BTW, what a smile…

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  3 роки тому

      I couldn't agree more with the white enamel Paul and that is what the entire chair was painted with. I haven't put any accents on it yet, but I was thinking her name or initials but in pink or red vinyl, done on the Cricut machine for a little extra professionalism. Thanks for tuning in to the show and for taking the time to leave the kind words and the suggestions.

    Great job I roughly used your sizes and built my own turned out really good don't know how to send you a photo but would if I could you mentioned you thought back legs seemed long I added a little tray on mine so my nephew can put his colouring books or toys in, fills the space between back legs and adds strength, well done Stewart Uk

    That could be an heirloom, it is a nice chair. Maybe she should pick out the color and possibly add a few brush strokes of her own. She might be a workshop helper someday...you never know. You did an excellent job Kenny. Enjoyed,take care!

      Glad that you liked it Michael. I am hoping that she will become a workshop helper. Both of my daughters would spend time in the shop with me when they were younger and I'm looking forward to my granddaughter doing the same. Who knows, maybe she will even host a few shows with me and work on some kid's projects. Thanks for tuning in sir.

      This chair was made before I offered plans or cut lists but the good news is that the show was produced in such a way, that the chair is easily made by taking notes during the show and duplicating what I've done. Good luck on your project and thanks for tuning in.

    PAINT??? Say it isn’t so!! I’ve always wanted to build some Adirondack chairs, but when I get serious about starting, all those curves, angles, proportions etc. team up to give me a migraine! At that point, my typical plan is to go find some Oreos and the recliner! You knocked this one outta da park! Good job!

    kenny, muito bom seu projeto e melhor ainda suas explicações e montagem. Bom ainda não tenho neto e nem neta, mas sobrinha e sobrinho de 1 e 2 anos, acredito que uma ou duas cadeiras dessas vai vir a calhar com a casinha de boneca que construi para os dois brincarem debaixo de uma arvore.
    Voce disponibiliza algumas medidas kenny? obrigado.
