I have my lug nuts torque to 100 lb ft and this 1/2" Brushless impact takes them off easy af with a 5ah battery. But with the 1.5 ah it takes a couple more seconds to take off. Maybe another 2 or 3 seconds. If you're gonna be using any kind of impact wrench, make sure to use a bigger battery for more power.
Got one yesterday, better then my absolutely ghetto (Mustool), but I will say that ghetto mustool has broken loose suspension bolts that really surprised me it could do. I like this brushless Bauer 1/2, its construction feels 10x that in quality of my amazon impact wrench, and it had zero problems removing lugs, so, I know people have brand loyalty or say trashy things about Bauer and harbor freight, but, for the low income worker, these tools have been such a blessing and I can say nothing but good things about the brand or harbor freight!
Had a 1.5 amp battery that came with a drill, the impact could not remove most of the lug nuts, bought a 5 amp battery, now have no problems removing them
Yeah i got the 450lb brushed model and i use a 3ah battery. It works pretty decent on everything but if anything just get the 1000lb model if you want the power haha
I have the brushed 1/2 inch with a 3 amp battery had it going on 4 years I use it on my 03 tribute Axel nuts torque at 225 ft lbs it still breaks them loose im satisfied with it also have the 3/8 brushless use it on smaller things like brakes and things it been good it'll even take the lug nuts off but I got it for smaller things and I'm pleased with both still waiting on Bauer to make cordless ratchets because I'll get one of them also like the fact the battery fits all of the 20 volt tools I like that
HF also sells attachments that will only let lugs and bolts be tightened to a specific amount of torque. I googled my Ram and wifes Ford trucks. Both had difficulty requirements on their torques.
If a lug nut has been improperly torqued sure it will have a hard time. For NORMAL torqued fasteners on most cars the tools perform well. The advantage of these models is that you are less likely to break lugs or severely overtighten them.
The problem now and days people don’t torque them down they just hit them with a few ugga-dugga and call it a day with there 1000+ ft-lb impact gun not knowing that with that kind of power a few ugga-dugga can torque down to 350-450 ft-lb quick
I’ve had it with over-tightened lug nuts coming from the tire shop! 80-90 ft-lbs is all that is needed and I’m having to jump up and down on the lug nut wrench in my trunk all too often. Then, the other day a lug actually came off with the nut it was seized to. These things are apparently tightened to 200-250 ft-lbs routinely by techs that have no idea what they’re doing. There are torque wrenches, or at least spring steel socket adapters to prevent this. But, management & owners assume all employees are fully trained & qualified, but that just never happens. Too much turnover?
Not sure how folks say these don’t take off lug nuts when lug nuts are torqued on at much less than the 250 lb ft these things are ripping through. Pretty good little guns for the price!
I've had issues with my old impact, so I'm heading down to buy the brushless today. My old brushed model couldn't take the lug nuts off my hearse, ive had to break them loose by hand.
I had the old brushed model from about 6 years ago. That thing was useless. I just picked up the new high torque model and it's awesome. Lug nuts, spindle nut, crank bolt zipped off quickly
I must over torque my lug nuts cause I put almost all my body weight when I tighten them and I'm 215lbs. I have the brushless and it took a good 8 seconds to break them loose
Unless you're using a torque wrench you are way over tightening them if you're putting your body weight into it.. you have to account for the leverage you are using on the actual nut, so putting 215lbs of body weight on a wrench is putting it way above specified torque. most cars should be torqued around 80-90ft lbs..
My old ford dealership bought all new oil techs the brushed 1/2 in impact. And none of them worked for removing lug nuts. I got the smaller hercules 1/2 in impact and that one didn't work either. Sonitll be nice to see if the new brushless Bauer works
Just bought the brushless 1/2” and it can’t take the lugs tourqed to 100 ft lbs with a 3 ah battery… but my kobalt impact driver takes it off no problem lol. Not sure what’s going on here
Just got the brushless and it took off 1 lug nut and couldn't get the rest but my dad and to literally stand on the break away bar to get the rest so I didn't expect it to get them
@Motor City Metal it's great had to take a donut off and put the old tire back on and it struggled with taking lugs off but it got it and it didn't even use a single dot on the 5 ah battery and it tightens them pretty tight too so I think for the 70 bucks it was worth it gonna have to get the 3/8 inch one too and zee if that's any good
@@MotorCityMetalArt ya I saw.. but on my torque wrench, I have to really muscle it and push hard with my weight. The Axle nut on my Honda is like 180 ft lbs , and when I was removing the nut, I literally had to stand on the torque wrench to remove it. It was not rusted, but I realize that removing the nut will require a more torque, but even when I re-tighted the new axle nut, I had to really muscle it back on! So, it just doesnt look like you put that much effort into tightening it. but who knows!
I think the brushed would do better with the newer 5 ah battery. All the reviews I have seen were running 3 amps and comparing them to much better batteries from name brands that cost 2-3x as much.
@@MotorCityMetalArt No, sorry for the confusion. I mean the 5ah battery was released about a year after the 1/2 impact, so most reviews online are with a 3ah battery in comparison tests that I have seen.
I got the 2085c-BR it’s for me and my truck now I just need to get the battery and charger lol
People keep forgetting the new 5 amp hour battery. They make a world of difference
also I tried going from 5amp to 8amp even more power to both of these impact wrenches and especially the brushed one, not sure why is that.
@@joekuran5833higher discharge rate from the 21700 cells in the 8AH bs the 18650 in the other batteries.

Yes torque bars are handy to have in your toolbox.

Some tire shops hammer on the lug nuts. They don't have a good system to properly torque them.
Yea that's true.
Thanks for the opportunity

As easy as you pushed on that manual torque wrench, it doesnt look like 250ft pounds. I would think you have to lean into it very hard.

I didn't have my impact socket set with me that day so I bought that individual socket from Menards for the video.
These look really nice !
Did that feel like 250 because I have put a crank bolt on to a similar number and it was a lot
