The most impressive thing to me is that this car cruises at 200km/h reving 2000rpm. In most cars you would have to hold near full throttle, rev 5000 and get a ton of noise at that speed. Truly a royal-like experience...

@@AA-vr8ez I beg to differ. The W222 looked great, particularly the facelift. The W221 was elegant as a luxury limousine should be. Those designs are truly phenomenal. The W223 doesn't do it on any level in comparison to its predecessors. @@SwiftHDX I think it looks ok. A bit aggressive front with no weird lights or grille. Like it should be. Classic receipt. Even though nothing special. I would change the rear lights though. That’s good to know. I’ve owned an E400d 4 Matic wagon for 4 years now. Had it since new. Best car I’ve ever had. What an engine, although mine is obviously without the 27hp assistance found in the S450d. I’ve never felt short of power or torque, and it will worry some sports cars on the autobahn.
I have also had the E400d wagon for the last 4 years in UK. Stage 1 tune to 400hp and 800Nm! Tremendous family car. Taken it to northern Scotland, Spain, Portugal and through all the countries to get to Poland with over half a ton of aid for Ukraine 2 years ago. Need to decide if I will keep it or get another. Maybe the GLE? Same engine though! 400d/450d.
Definitely up there for being the best for sure! For me the shape and technology of the W221 S65 AMG was a sweetspot. W222 got the better updated M279 engine with a better 7 speed gearbox and a tonne more technology. Though the shape never fully grew on me like the W221 did. The W140 was a tank in all aspects and if you are a person who doesn’t need the useful technologies in the more modern vehicles, then its a fantastic choice
I mean that is your preference. If I have to take a guess, its because you grew up in the 90's. I would say though the W126 was a bigger milestone in the S class history. Or the 6.9 W116.
Bmw started uplifting their models for no reason other than to sell "prestige". They moved 50i to 60i without a bump in horsepower, same as making the 730d into a 740d with a slight 13 hp boost. Older gen with the same name had more hp than newer models with the same name, really wierd.
@@rebelroad401 nope. The used car market for internal combustion engines will take off and remain more popular than electric crap. Companies will have no choice but to abandon the electric market. It's already happening in the United States.

Mercedes, please listen: No replacement for displacement! Stop fooling your customers that you still have left. What a nasty deceiving trend.
in all honesty you don't need more power in this. States got like 85mph max limits, this engine is torquey enough for that :) more is always better but I've done 160mph in a 740d G70 on the Autobahn and that sadly only has 300hp :)
@@petemolnar6073 We gotta be honest here: Emissions are a thing and Diesel engines just are restricted by laws of physics. They can't rev as high and you'll wanna keep it stock in order to preserve longevity. BMW apparently stopped their 50d lineup (400hp btw) due to reliability and emissions issues as far as I know. 300hp is enough to go 160 mph. I had the 740d for the weekend and the torque it has is more than enough. I did go 160 mph with it. It's fine. More is always nice but at what cost? Diesel engines do behave differently from gasoline/petrol powered ones in the way they deliver power and they really are made for high mileages. You don't really need the high end power all that much if you have the torque to properly move you even at low revs.

As he said in the video, the Merc has 9 gears, so thats your answer why it cruises at that speed at low revs.
Being diesel also helps
I would say its more like 2300rpm but still impressive. Sorry for the nitpicking
Diesel automobiles tend to have very low RPMS compared to gas engines due to the more torque they provide . Most of them top out at 5k Rpm’s
It's also the same on a BMW X3M Competition. At 200km/h, it's around 2300rpm which is crazy for a petrol engine.
Green is seriously underrated and underused in the car world. Dark green + Cognac interior is where it's at for me.
