So in the mini quiz at the end, the last practice sentence is, “She’s English but she speaks French perfectly.” Shouldn’t there be a comma between “English” and “but”? Or is that an exception to the comma rule? Genuinely asking, I’d like to get into transcribing and I want to know all the rules.
Great question! A comma between two independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction is optional if the independent clauses are very short (under 4 words).
This was my last lecture on punctuations. I learned all about the essentials for using punctuations. The lectures were very easy to understand but were comprehensive.
Would you please explain the following? Which one is correct, and why? a. The President's child was ill. or b. The president's child was ill. I have only just subscribed to your channel, and have found it very useful. Thank you.

Hi. How does rule 5 apply to titles that begin with an article within or at the end of a sentence? For example: One of my favorite comedy sitcoms is The Goldberg’s.
The title should always be capitalized even if it begins with an article or preposition. Generally, the last word should always be capitalized as well. Check out this website for help with capitalizing titles: titlecaseconverter.com/ It will capitalize every title for you automatically following all the rules.
Question: would I capitalise the name of a Kung Fu technique such as bong sau? Would I also capitalise the English name for a techniques such as centre punch?

Thank you so much for your wonderful videos. My 7th grade students are telling me that they learned in 6th grade to make sure that the capital letter of each sentence is pointy. The uppercase must have sharp edges. I don't think this is true, am I correct? I never heard of something like this before! Is this some strange thing in common core? Or did they just have a teacher who misled them?
You are very welcome! I have never heard that before in all my years of teaching (what your 7th grade students said). Did they all have the same teacher?
