    Thank you Wendy! I am a beginner and I like trying new things everyday, but embroiderying is one of my favourite activities at the moment. I've always wondered about how to close my work without using glue (I am one of those people who had problems with that :) ) and getting a perfect result at the end. This video is exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks a lot! Cheers from Italy :)

    Brilliant! Thank you for this tutorials- it's something I've been struggling to find a good solution to. Also, while I'm sure it wasn't fun for you when you broke the thread, your reaction made me chuckle. So thank you. Four years into embroidering and I'm still learning a lot from your tutorials!

      +Megan Bush I'm always really happy when mistakes happen on camera. :-) They happen to all of us!

    Thanks from a veteran stitcher, but novice with the hoop. : ) Perfect vid for what I needed and great explanation why glue isn't desired. I had similar sentiments.. the danger of ruining a piece that takes so much time and love.

    I'm so glad I've found someone who doesn't like glue either.

    @kewlamy1984 Hi Amrita! For multicolor pieces I work one color at a time. I don't usually worry about a clean back because nobody will see it on most pieces. Every once in a while, though, I'll do a scarf or a tea towel that I want to keep relatively neat. For those I'll usually use running stitch (looks the same on the back), split stitch (looks like backstitch on the back) or backstitch (looks like split stitch on the back).

    @handsclean5 I've never tried it with aida, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just be very careful not to stitch your gathering stitches too close to the edge - aida will shred pretty easily. And it can be stiff, so you might need to take an iron to the back of it. Just press the edge where it folds over the wooden inner hoop - press right onto the wood. Unless you've painted the hoop. The heat might effect the paint but it won't affect bare wood.

    HI Wendi, I'm Amrita from India. Im really impressed with your work. I haven't embroidered before but after watching your videos I feel like giving it a shot. I wish to embroider a dupatta and have a few concerns. how do u work with multiple threads? how do manage to keep a clean backside as both sides of a dupatta will be visible. I am asking this coz i cud see lot of zig zag threads at the back of this work of urs... I am planning to do some flowers & leaves using chain stitch and lazy daisy

    @kewlamy1984 You Tube cut me off so I'm making this last bit a separate comment. If I have to carry a thread from one area to another and I don't want it to show, I run it under existing stitching, like tying off your thread in this video wendigratz(dot)blogspot(dot)com/2011/08/how-to-tie-off-thread-on-back-of-your(dot)html except I don't cut the thread when I get to the area I want to stitch - I just start stitching again.
    Hope this helps!

    Thanks for help... I am not a glue fan either... Just one question... Won't it get loose, after stitching hoop with hoop?

    • @WendiGratz
      @WendiGratz  6 років тому

      I find that the tension of the stitching on the back holds things really tightly - but I will say I'm pretty careful with them. :-)

    Could you use two-sided fusible interfacing to attach fabric to the back?

    • @WendiGratz
      @WendiGratz  8 років тому

      +Jackie Marks You could, but it doesn't need to be fused. Take a look at this post for an easy way to cover the back. www.shinyhappyworld.com/2014/05/how-to-hide-back-hooped-embroidery.html

    Hi What if you need to cover the back completely so none of the stitching shows or is this not advised?

    • @WendiGratz
      @WendiGratz  10 років тому +1

      Just layer another piece of fabric over the back of your stitching and then hoop them together as if they're one layer. It's cover up the back of your stitching and be perfectly neat. :-)
