    That's pretty daring to play Bach's Toccata and Fugue on the Mini with the limited keyboard. You made it sound really good though. I'm impressed.

      @@JohnLRice You're the first one to post a Mellotron M4000D Mini demo using low mode. There are some really cool sounds in low mode. "16 strings" and "harpsichord acoustic" in low mode is mesmerizing.

    the onde is such a wonderful experience. Great instrument pairing.
    My favorite two instruments with it so far have been the shbobo shnth and the monone norns

      You are most welcome my friend! For use with synths one thing to avoid is loud low frequencies since it can start to rattle something inside. It "could" just be that my unit has a small defect, but it didn't seem worth it to ship it back to France to have them check it out. The larger and more expensive "Pyramide" with class A amps would likely be better than the ONDE for full range synth inputs. They also now offer a Pyramide model without built in amps (like a passive speaker) so you can save some money if you already have a good amp?

      Thanks! :-) I need to experiment more but the ONDE is surprisingly high fidelity and the effect on sound can be more subtle than you might expect.

    Hey John, nice video. Do you know how the micro behaves when controlling an external synth over midi. Can you trigger lower/higher octaves on an external device when you use the shift toggle?

    • @JohnLRice
      @JohnLRice  2 роки тому

      Hi, so sorry I missed your comment until now! 🤦‍♂️
      I think the shift toggle only affects the internal mapping of the keyboard range. (I'm have to test it and it's not set up right now)
      The Micro has these MIDI settings in the menu:
      - Input Channel
      - Output Channel
      - Program Change: Sends ‘Program Change’ data 0-31 when turning ‘Select A’ in Playlist mode.
      - Bank Change: Sends ‘Bank Change’ data 0-15 when turning ‘Select B’ in Playlist mode.
      - Send Pitch: MIDI signal sent from pitch control knob. +/- 200 cent according to MIDI standard.
      - Transpose Output: The range of the MIDI data that is sent can be transposed up to three octaves up or down.

    Would be nice to hear some Ondesesque (ondesque?) synth sounds through it.

    • @JohnLRice
      @JohnLRice  3 роки тому

      "Someday" I might do a proper demo where the left channel is the direct sound of various synths and the right channel is the mic'd ONDE? That way people could mute one side or the other to compare . . . .but doing proper demos takes me a long time and I have SO many other more important things to do . . . . . .

    Hey John, can these be controlled through a midi keyboard? Thanks

    • @JohnLRice
      @JohnLRice  3 роки тому +1

      The Mellotron Micro? Yes, you can control it via its MIDI input with a larger keyboard, hardware sequencer, or computer etc to access the full tree octaves of sounds.

      Is your opinion just based on my video or have you worked with one yourself? I don't think my video is the best representation FWIW. ☺
