*A lot of viewers have been real thankful for our DIY videos and have ask if there was a way to buy us a Beer. UA-cam now has a ‘THANKS’ button under every video, Just click the button.* 😀 *It’s not required or expected, but it is appreciated. THANK YOU!*
Thank you for showing how to replace our spring & the link to get them. That was driving us nuts with it not locking to the outside door.
You are welcome! 😀
I had marked "Like" on this video last year and thought nothing more of it until today when my spring broke😖
The link to the springs still work, Thank you!!!
Get your butt back out there and make more videos. You have the same RV and Jeep layout, I rely heavily on your videos. Don't give us any excuse of being sticks and bricks now... 😁👍
Much appreciation,
Dan
You never know when those 'Springs' are going to break on you! Glad the video was there for you when you needed it. 😀
My handle just broke today, without your video, I wouldn’t have realized what was wrong with the spring, it broke in the same place. Thnx!
You are welcome! Glad we could help! 😀
Hi yall, thanks for the help! Give my love to Brandi🌷
You are welcome and Brandi says Thank You! 😀
Great video! I always find the answer or solution on YT. Being the handy dandy crafter that I am, I used my jewelry tools and a paperclip to make my own spring. Too impatient to wait a week for the buying and shipping process. It took me several tries to get it right but it was very satisfying to eventually succeed. First try, very poorly created paperclip, then floral wire (too gimpy), then 22 gauge jewelry making wire (still too gimpy), back to the paperclip. Wrapped it around the right size crochet hook for uniform circles then bent the ends to the right length and angle. I'm happy I got it done. Yeah girl power!!!!
Nice! Cheryl said you go Girl!!! 😀
Thank you so much for posting this!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😀
This is a perfect example of why I follow you guys. When it comes to things mechanical, I have no skills at all. I always look forward to watching how you figure out how to fix things or tackle improvements to your rig.
Wow, thanks John, we appreciate your comment! 😀
Maggie is getting grey…..still a pup, no doubt!
Thanks for the tip.
Brandi is getting gray, but still thinks she is a pup. You had us worried about Maggie the RV though! 😆😀😜 Glad the tip helped!
Thank yall for this video! Ordering the parts tonight!

We're in Palm Springs for the next 8 nights, and the spring broke in the handle. 😪 I remembered your video😃, and ordered the springs! Thanks again! Appreciate you keeping the channel up as a reference.👍Hoping all is well. Cheers! 🍻
Hi Art! We loved Palm Springs. Wish the Pandemic hadn't been going on while we were there though. Sorry to hear your door spring broke, but glad you will be back in shape soon. You are welcome too, we have no intention of taking the channel down. We have had a few people thank us for leaving it up. Enjoy your stay. We are experiencing above average temperature here in New England. We know this wont last. 🌨🏂⛄
Thank you!
You're welcome, Allison 😀!
Good info to store in the old memory banks for when the time comes, and we all know it will, when ours and others' will break as well. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome Henry and thank you! 😀
Thanks! Just purchased a set of springs from your Amazon link. Appreciate you. Jason/California
Awesome Jason! Thank you! 😀
Helpful as always! Thanks to your video I was able to figure out a temporary fix until I can order a replacement!

Hi Linda! We are back in Tuxbury Pond in the same spot when we met you. We will be heading to Maine again on Tuesday. Hope to see you guys again also! 😀
@@GetGonewithUS we'll be at Moody Beach until Aug 5, look us up - we're easy to find - hint, hint
@@lindadonald5905 Will do! LOL
Thanks, great advice, we just got back from a weeks camping where this latch broke. I just subscribed and liked this video. BTW you sound like the guy on This Old House. I like him.
Glad it helped! No relation to This Old House. lol
Good job.
Thanks Wes! 😀
Great video !! Robert from Ohio !!
Thanks Robert! We like your state! 😀
Nice job!
Thanks Lance! 😀
thank you alot 😊
You are welcome! 🙂
I bought the springs also but thanks for the vidio I needed to see how to load that spring LOL
Glad we could help, Kathy! 🙂
Love it!
Thanks Ron!!
Great work and clear instructions! Our spring just broke as well and I plan on just buying the replacement springs. There is no guarantee that the spring in the new handle won't break and I'd be stuck again.
Good luck Stephen! Going with the springs you are good for 10 more repairs. LOL
Hi🙋Good job, AGAIN! Simple's always good & inexpensive makes it the best👏
Hi Mona! We like simple and cheap! 😜
@@GetGonewithUS Me too😁
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Really appreciate it. Do you also have a video about fixing the entry door that is difficult to open?
You are welcome Sam. We did give some tips on the entry adjustment at time stamp 7:38 in this viideo...ua-cam.com/video/_Eu4msaEMfg/v-deo.html
Thumbs up 👍
Thanks for the visit PaPa! 😀
Try the screen shot by lippert. It’s great
Thanks, but it's looks like you still need the handle to be working, ours wasn't. Great idea if you have kids that leave the door open though. 😀
I just drove all the way to the rv retail in scorching heat to spend $30. I asked if I had the right one and they said yes and it was the wrong 'handed'. So I just ended up swaping out the spring...so basically drive for 40 mins and spent $40 on a tiny spring. Ill know better next time guys. Thanks.
Oops! Sounds like a challenging day, but at least it is fixed. 😀 We feel you you with this heat. We are experiencing it too.
Hello Chuck & Cheryl
I was searching oil changing on my V10 and found your oil change video, so now you have 2 new subscribers my wife Sandra and I .
Hi Hersey! 😀
We are so glad that you and your wife Sandra have subbed to our channel. Thanks You! 😀
Great Video! I had to replace the one on our old Jayco last summer. Simple and easy fix.
Thanks Guys! The door has taken a beating over the last 2 years of full time living. LOL
Thanks. Like 361
Thanks for visiting, Dennis!😀
what have you done to cover warn seating covers on seat.
Haven't had a need too, they held up great held up great.
Thank you for this video it was exactly what I was looking for!
Do you know if these springs can be purchased at ace, lowes, or Home Depot?
If I had to buy the 10 pack have you found any other uses for this spring?
I'm not sure if you can buy one. The extra went in the spare parts container in case it happens again. 😀
We have a Shasta trailer with latch a little different but the same idea. Where did you get spring and how do you know the correct one to get?
We took it apart to see inside and researched from there. We have a link to the springs we used in the Description Box below the video under see more.
Where did you purchase just the pain great video
Thank you! 😀 If you are referring to the springs, they are listed n the description below the video. Here is the link... 10 Replacement Springs link... amzn.to/3y1xyCR
Any chance you know where to find the replacement spring for a left hand opening door? Amazon does not seem to stock them, and the one from your link states that it only works for right hand opening doors.
No sorry. I looked for someone awhile ago, but couldn't find anything. You may have to just change the handle out. Good Luck.
Hey Chuck will this latch work for a 1996 Winabago Adventurer Screen Door?
I have no idea, I assume it would work on a lot of RV's. You can look on Amazon at the different ones they carry and see if there is one that matches yours. Good Luck! 😀 Affiliate Link: amzn.to/3bQwafZ
Hey guys, thanks for this great video. The latch you have and the springs are right handed, any chance you know where to find springs for a left handed latch?
Hi! We are glad you liked the video. I did some searching around and unfortunately I was not able to find any left handed springs. They all seem to be right handed. 🤔
Same as me, oh well guess it's a new handle for now then. Thanks for looking though!
Do you have a video of how to repair steps that will not retract all the way?
No we do not. I'll enclose a link to a manual that will give you an idea of what to look for. Go to page 4 and under step 5 it explains what to look for. I suggest you find you find the exact manual for the steps you have though. Hope it helps... lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws.com/manuals/steps/ccd_0001624.pdf
My problem is that when the screen closes, the screen handle springy part latches onto the doorframe latch as designed. That way, it doesn't swing open on its own.
When the outer door is closed, it latches to the handle part on top of the handle. When I attempted to open the outer door, it broke the handle since the handle was latched onto the doorframe latch and did noy let go.
How is it that you can open both doors at once without breaking the screen handle? I had to sand down the doorframe latch so that the screen would not lock into place, otherwise I will keep breaking these. Thanks for any suggestions.
If is the same setup we have, you need to adjust the door frame mount a and the handle mounts. With out seeing it in person it is hard to say what the problem is. Good Luck.
I have the same problem. 2014 Winnebago, but thought these were generic, so just bought one on line. Made sure it was the left hand latch and installed and worked fine w/o the main door closed, then when trying to open both the screen door and the main door...the screen door latch would not release. The latch has a chamfer on one side, which I believe maybe the problem for opening both doors when mounted facing outward. But when mounted in this way you have to work the latch ignorer to close the screen door.
The link for ordering the springs did not show up on this video for some reason, can you please post it for me?
Links are always in the description box under the video. You might have to click 'See More10 Replacement Springs link...amzn.to/3y1xyCR'
Where do you purchase the springs?
All the links are in the Description Box below the video. Springs Link... amzn.to/3XoAqqY
Hello , Chuck & Sheryl are you guys going to be in Florida this coming winter ?
Hi Guys! It is too soon to tell where we will be spending the winter this year. That's one of the things we love about the fulltime lifestyle...choices! LOL
@@GetGonewithUS We bought a use class A last year and we are going to do the snow bird thing this winter from up here in northeastern NY.
@@herseyadams1056 Congrats on the new to you rig! We did Texas, Arizona and California the first year. Florida the second year for winter.
The tape isn't sticky anymore. What type/size do I need to get? Is it even important?
If you are just replace the spring in the handle the tape is unnecessary. Just use the original screw hole and you'll be all set. 😀
If your door is closing hard, check your screen door mounting screws.
Thanks for the suggestion Don! Any time the door closes hard, check all the screw for the door handle too, they do seem to come loose a lot. 😀
Hi guys.
HI, Thanks for stopping by! 😀
Amazing, that on an expensive class C motorhome, they use the same crappy screen door setup as on the cheapest toad. Amazing....
Yup, it is not the best setup! 😀
