Have you ever ripped a screen in your RV or home?

LOLZ.... during the whole video, my wife and I were like....SCREEN DEFENDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...HOW HAVE YOU NOT HEARD!!! Then finally towards the end you talk about it! Event though it is for Lippert, I would suggest just measuring the inside dimensions of your screen door to see if it's a match. It just snaps into the channel inside the door. That thing is a must have if you have pets or small hoomans!! Keep up the great work!

We got one! And it works great! Thought I put it in a video, but I guess I just mentioned it here. Can't believe it took a year and a half to figure it out!

HEY HEY HEY I'm a 74 who bought my very first RV a 22 year old class B+ a year ago and it unfortunately came with a whole heap of big problems. Poor neglect by the fellas who owned and didn't give a hoot all the years. Anyway I dug in and my husband helped here and there but I'm the camper in this family and been tent camping as a solo female for about 55 years now. Hubby's only been around for 52 of those years. He's pretty good he is fine with me going off camping and he stays home and takes care of the pets and plants and garden and all of that which please him to bits cause I am not a needy must have a guy on my arm kinda lady. OK some question the lady reference. But here's the deal I do fail at times in true physical strength but I make up for it in a lot of other ways. For example today hubby has our ultra heavy metal back door off the house and putting on a large wrap around weather strip. He asked me to steady the door laying on two saw horses. I finally took the material away from him and while he's saying THAT WON'T WORK I had it on 2/3's of the way and I said I will take it off and do it again to get it on the whole way....NOOO he yells as he goes and gets a rubber hammer and hammers it into place then takes a saw to cut the excess off the ends flush but it can't make them flush so I go and get a clipper I have for tough cutting jobs and sure enough it snips right through it. So I may not be super strong BUT I THINK OUTSIDE the BOX and 9% of the time it works well. Last year when he had taken apart a machine that had one of those pull starts that worked with a wound up steel and rope mechanism he couldn't get it back together. We just have tried numerous times and I kept saying what we need is a dowel to keep the dang thing from from unwinding. I was ignored. I took a moment to finally grab a metal socket from the set of manuals with screw driver like handles and first one was a bit too big and second was perfect and sure enough that's what led to success...FINALLY. One of the first things I bought when I started renovating and repairing the RV last year was order the very square gadget driver. The classic size is a number 2 if I remember right. I got a 9 piece set that was actually three full sets of 3 drivers in different lengths. I put one set into these handles that fit on their end making them like mini screw drivers or manual screw drivers. And then another set in with my main electric Bosch drill and the other set is set up as spares to hand to hubby when he's helping out. Oh My Gosh did they get used. Till then I was borrowing the only one my husband had and we were about to fight over it. So now I have 3 sets of 3 lengths and they have been like magic. Yes sometimes Phillip Screw drivers will work but there are other times someone else dinged up the screws you need these and overall I'd say you need these. I think these cost like under 7 dollars. There is always going to be a disconnect between men and women even those who love each other dearly. Women are fixers and while we are at it add a little humor and whimsy to their lives too. In my case I just finished sewing all the cushion in the RV reupholstered some and replaced the foam core and batting in others too. I only had 20 shank buttons to put on the seat backs for the sofa and the dinette both to make them look a little more polished or finished if you will. I choose to go with Celtic dragons instead of the classic self fabric shank buttons. I have done it the other way years ago but I love the embossed and 3D almost patterns in these buttons. I am very pleased how they came out. My husband was like why that's just silly. As my neighbor friend said IT's YOUR RV you get to choose. True but over the years I've grasped his cultural upbringing wasn't the same as mine. He's like if you did something even when it's me doing it and you want to add that little bit of something special or something something to see it completed not just he but his whole family will SAY OH NO DON't it's perfect as it is. I listened a few times in my youth to only over time regret that I did. Turns out that something something is the icing on the cake. I did add deer buttons to the back side of the dinette cushions because they can be turned around but the sofa cushions have a directional lip that prevents them being flipped. So their back side has dragon scale buttons...in case someone ever notices when removed to make a twin or a small King if put together with the other twin. Now I had to get his help to remove the windows and reinstall them. I also needed his physical strength to insert the rubber glaze in the windows. I heated and soaked the new glazing in soapy warm water too but still demanded strong fingers. We met in college through our mutual interest of caving. We've had an interesting and at times challenging life together. But despite our differences of he's from Mars and I'm definitely from Venus we work it all out and support one another. We've always nickering as I refer to what others might call bickering before we were married and it was just our way of working it out. He's got his views and I've got mine that don't mix. But at the heart of it oh yeah it's all good. I am a feminist but so is he. However a lot of our nickering comes down to the difference in our genders perspectives. I think it's pretty neat I have a guy who is secure enough to let me go camping by tent and now by a wee tiny mini RV alone. However when I said I'd send him by train to MN while I take off earlier driving the RV to be there to pick him up at the depot he said what no way I can travel in the RV too! Ahhh that's too cute. He hates to drive for 3 ten hour days and it being an RV is not going to change that drive. I think he wants to try it out too. Any changes to the design is to keep the basic design of the floor plan but utilize it as a two person in two twin bed set up so everyone including our ages can get up onto an isle and walk to the Restroom without disturbing or climbing over the other person. And I can take my gal friends who want to camp but not in tents along too now. He's always welcome to come along or even join me later. I'm falling in love with the RV now that the interior has been fixed. I tore out walls and floors and rebuilt it all myself last year. I've done all the trim and upholstering myself. I've used up all but 40 inches on a 20 yard roll of light grey marine canvas with a softer hand. It came out very light and airy and can't wait to take her on her maiden trip soon. Of course he can come too. I may keep those tents around just incase we have others join us too. Maybe we'll see you on the road some day....Nice job repairing the screen door and making it safe for smaller people and pets.

Take 17! hahaha! I am wondering if there is spline out there that will stay put better? Customer has kids that push on the screen and while the screen itself doesn’t rip, the spline pops right out.

Yeah that's good video if you have a screen door that your can remove easily. But I have to take the front door off first on this GeoPro. And it looks like the door is riveted on. My friends 4yr old tore the top screen where the plastic slider is that you access the door opener. I will go out and purchase a rotary tool. It's got to make this job easier... Thanks for the tips.

The square-headed screws are known as 'Robertson', after the Canadian who perfected them for mass production. They are a great screw if you are a Canadian. In Canada. Otherwise, especially if you own an RV, they are a pain which requires a trip to Lowe's for special bits before you can undertake your first repair.
