I think if you really want to know if these glasses make the color perception better, you should make a test from an independant source, not the page you bought the glasses from.
    Just my opinion 😊

@@MeshamuNot a fair point at all, since the test doesn't know if you are wearing the glasses or not. Also, the test is the same everywhere in the world, as the original ones are hand painted. So, no.

Great video I’m red green colorblind, and I got a few videos as well explaining my experience with them. Unfortunately I did cry, I have the Pilestone colorblind glasses I tried the enChroma did not get much of a response from them , but maybe that’s the way it should work for me they have made things brighter for me.

In this EnChroma color blind test the background was grey for every single number. So you know only one thing after the test for sure. You can differentiate colors from grey alone. This test doesn't give you a feedback about whether you can or cant't differentiate all the other colors from each other.
You should definitely try an Ishihara test where much more colors are mixed.

If you are a deutan, you should use the CX1 DT (the bluish lens, not the CX1 reddish lens, there is now confusion, see below).
Where did you get the reddish indoor glasses? Enchroma discontinued these (originally called CX1).
Enchroma's original offerings for indoor use was CX1 (red, for protans) & CX1-DT (blue, for deutans). CX1(red) was discontinued. CX1-DT (blue) was then renamed CX1. (Manufacturers should NEVER change a part number of an existing item, especially when it is the same as former item!) I use the color (blue) & (red) to identify the lenses in attempt to clarify this confusion.
The blue lens CX1 absorbs less light than the red CX1 lens, so you should find these less objectionable to use indoors or outdoors at night. You should exchange your red ones for the blue ones.
Side note: DON'T put any credence on colorblind test results while wearing the glasses. Enchroma specifically advises against this. Judge instead by WHAT YOU SEE. You will need to wear then for a time before the full effect is seen.
If you go to an Enchroma retailer, you can also get CX2 (for deutan) & CX2-SP (for strong protans). These are of intermediate tint between the indoor & outdoor glasses.

I am an avid electronic fan (enrolled in vocational school for Electronics decades ago but unable to even continue it due of finding out that i can't fully read the resistors or components color codes. I failed the color vision part of exam when i applied for a CA State Job for LE position bcoz of their strict protocol that they won't accept any applicants who have a color blindness(but i made it to the State somehow after i wrote a letter to then Governor Brown to consider me specially i'm a Veteran of Foreign War and now just enjoying my State Retirement and also resuming playing guitars and visual arts, and thanks to God for it even though i'm still a color blind he blessed me so much) .

By the way, im red-green colorblind, but i've got all the numbers u sayed without glasses. I've got the lens by the way, with the red dot. You can see the numbers a bit clear, but the blurry effect stays and it's pretty annoying. I'm not sure that i have change with real colors, only a bit better with the numbers in the test.

I got a pair out of curiosity. When I do the tests it comes back as Normal but I wondered if the difficut ones could be seen more easily by other folk. The ones You couldn't see were just about apparent to me so I scored higher. I have used them outdoors on sunny days and I deemed them to ne my 'trippy' glasses because all the colours of flowers popped out at me. Taking the glasses off I could see the colours now (having seen them) but they all blended into a background collage again. They do bring out detail in that shades of all colours are more clearly deliniated and hench different repairs in brick walls, for example, over time are more readily noticable. I have tried them with other folk telling them that they were builder's glasses so as not to tip them off about colour expectation. No one yet has claimed to see any significant difference other than things being more vivid. The experiment continues :-) I have the blue tinted outdoor glasses.

It is a test of color discrimination, not color perception. The glasses block some frequencies of visible light which makes some colors appear more different than before. This causes a better score in the said test. Of course the glasses cannot make anybody magically see new colors.

I'm trying to determine which I should get for my colorblind boyfriend. It seems like you have to sacrifice brightness level to achieve color correction with these lenses. I can only afford to buy one and i was wondering which glasses produce the most vivid colors? I'm guessing the sunglasses, but are they ideal for indoor movie/tv watching. My boyfriend spends more time inside than outside. Or are the sunglasses too dark to enjoy indoor entertainment?

    • @JesseJorgensen
      @JesseJorgensen  11 місяців тому +2

yes it seems to me that you sacrifice brightness for color correction. Another commenter on here mentioned that maybe my glasses are an older model and the newer models are different, but I can't speak to that. The sunglasses definitely seem to be more helpful to me. I have used them in door and they are a little dark but not as dark as most sunglasses, so it could be done. Probably just depends on how sensitive his eyes are to brightness. This was well documented by the US military after the 2nd world war as they noticed that colour blind people could spot camouflaged troops better than those who had normal colour vision. When Life is limited it learns how to deal with that & adapts & usually can become better at things due to these adaptions its only a bad thing when somebody is selling something to fix something that is barely a problem. I am colour blind but yet I hardly see it as a problem unless its dealing with similar shades of small lines which messes with my sight but that's barely a problem & I don't think its worth a couple hundred pounds for a cheap pair of sunglasses with a red tint.

It seems that if folks are skeptical when they obtain the glasses, they just aren't as impressed with the improvement. I'm not colorblind, but if I was, I'd sure appreciate any noticeable improvement. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

i got enchroma for my son after taking the test to determine if he is protan or deutan. i have the video of him wearing it for the first time. it was very emotional. on that same activity, I invited my friend who was also color blind. he didnt find it as dramatic as what my son experienced. I believe his color blindness is different and the glasses of my son didnt match. My son only use this for outdoors, not indoors.

I would avoid the online color vision test. The red color factor is delibrately miscalibrated. Always "red-green" color blindness. The best tests are in a liscenced color lab. Avoid Church.

@@commissary4196 Who??? Okay, I'll give that the glasses may help slightly for differentiating that objects in front of you are different colors, its been known for fifty years that a colored lens can do this. But, if you can't see blue, there is nothing that is going to make you see blue. Then there is the side effect that everything else will not be the right color.

So sorry for you that the glasses don't make much of a difference for you. Yeah, i agree with the test here - you're not color blind (well maybe extremely extremely mild) - thus no tears nor any emotional feeling about it from you - you seem to almost make fun of people whom enchroma glasses make a big difference for. Just give your glasses to someone who really appreciates them and can't afford two pairs. Then you don't have to keep making videos downplaying how much these glasses change peoples lives.

    • @JesseJorgensen

Hey, thanks for watching! I’m so sorry I came across as making fun of people who have an emotional reaction when they try these. I was trying to make a joke like I thought I was too tough to cry while also communicating that they were not a very drastic change for me. But I really do not think less of anyone who has an emotional response. I’d celebrate with anyone who finds them that helpful! What is your story? Are you colorblind and have you found these to be helpful for you?

We all saw the truth come out. Notice all the influencers who cry the first time they wear these glasses are never seen wearing them again unless there's an Enchroma affiliate link at the bottom.

Enchroma is a scam. Go talk to an actual licenced optometrist or even a colour vision specialist and they'll tell you the same. Kinda disgusting how they take advantage of people with a disability actually.

Those viral videos are fake. I mean, it would seem that the glasses can help with certain conditions as the tests here seem to show but they are certainly not the life-changing emotional experience that the videos make them out to be.
It's probably a lot like the experience of putting in regular glasses for the first time to correct near-sightedness if I had to guess. That is to say, certainly not useless but also not like the impact of seeing your child laugh for the first time.

@@jamesc5751I wear my glasses everyday I would not wear them if they did not work, and I don't care where you buy the glasses. If you're color deficient go to a proper eye doctor and get diagnosed and try the glasses on before you buy them but stop telling people these are a scam and don't even try at all that's a disservice.
