In this video I take a look at the growing sovereign citizen movement around the world, in countries such as America, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand - and the similarities and differences between them all. I also discuss the history of law and order and how it developed in commonwealth countries and the US through the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights and the constitution. I also investigate the psychology behind the movement, who's making money from it, and why it's been so successful - and even delve into some philosophical musings around law and order itself. OoOoOoh.

So qanon cult like " sovereign citizens"?
Some auditors go that way and some don't I guess. Mind you actual auditors follow laws other than made up things.
I apologize from merica the old USA
you misunderstand alchemy, the layman understood alchemy to be literal and the charlatan took advantage of that
it is all allegory and energy, the metals also stand for concepts beyond themselves
but that doesn't really take away from your script just saying, look up KEMETIC alchemy, the ancient alchemical teachings that were bastardized to trick people into disregarding ancient teachings by making intentionally undereducated people take things to be literal and stop thinking in multiple dimensions.
It's not bullshit. No, we cannot turn real lead into real gold. If you look into some of Carl Jung's work beyond what they added to Academia you will see it is about growing our internal gold. A true alchemist is their own philosophers stone. The people who actually understood and made use of the knowledge fucking buried it beneath the rubble of civilizations and smeared and twisted the teachings just like they did with those of christ. Christ's walking on water was alchemical allegory. Water representing the mind in alchemy. The mind representing the universe. As hermeticists state "The All is mind." To walk on water is to calm the raging churning waters of the mind and walk on that serene surface where balance and love is to be found. You'll note that jesus had to send away the "unwashed" (unwashed by the waters of the universal mind) masses away before he could ever "walk on water." The man was walking around teaching true alchemy and he was put to death and they twisted it all. We love you Mune, thanks for what you do my wife and I loved watching this. Theurgy ties all of these together to make "as above, so below" come to life. Just trying to share with the soul fam. We love everything you do thanks for the discount code!

So the kid that used to go "no, I'm not dead because I'm always covered in an invisible laser shield" in the playground, grew up and became a sovereign citizen

@@1-800-hcbrigs I paraphrased it from the childish jibes Jack and Banks do to each other in 30 Rock.
@@1-800-hcbrigsIt's not a quote. It's just an anecdote that most kids experience, at least once growing up. We all knew that kid that was a sore loser who would make up an excuse to say why he's not out when he got tagged.
I actually think, the kid you are speaking of would get an early reality check and grow up weary of these delusions of grandeur. Now, catching the red flags sooner rather than later. At least it could be just as likely as your conclusion, imo.
"I'm not a US citizen, you can't make me follow your laws"
"Uh, no, you can't do that, I have constitutional rights!"
I love these people.
THIS! Lmao
Exactly. Also: watch what happens when "illegal" migrants say that first sentence.
us constitution doesnt tell citizens what they can do it tells government what it cant
"it delineates the national frame and constraints of government" second sentence from wiki
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_States
@@UltraRikit actually tells the federal government what it _can_ do, and then says it's up to the states from there
I mean, most constitutional rights do indeed apply to non citizens? Basically the entire bill of rights (except the second amendment, either at all or at least in practice) applies to non citizens, as does the 13th amendment (as slaves were not generally made citizens until the 14th, it must be taken that the 13th amendment protects non citizens from being held as slaves except in punishment for a crime), as do the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th amendment (which refer to persons, not to citizens)… so, what they’re saying isn’t a contradiction between two statements, it’s just that the first statement is fully incorrect, as everyone, whether citizen, documented immigrant, or undocumented immigrant, can be compelled to follow the law and face the consequences of breaking it. And their specific interpretation of the meaning of the second statement is probably also going to be wrong in the circumstances they say it in, but saying that non citizens have constitutional rights is 100% correct.
Fun fact, in Australia we commonly call sovereign citizens "cookers", because they've obviously spent too much time out in the sun and their brain is cooked

@@KarlSnarksecause the Jewish question is the original conspiracy theory in european/western culture. And conspiracy theories thrives by being tied together to other theories. So anti semitism is like 5he ground zero where all conspiracies are spun off from. Anti semitism goes all the way back to when Christianity was being spread, and Europe has oppressed Jews for hundreds of years.
During the reformation where protistantism was breaking of catholosiscm, conspiracy theories about Jews being evil was widespread. The crusades were also motivated by anti semitism. Every big war or even in Europe has had the Jewish question sprinkled throughout to smaller or larger extend, with of course nazism being the msot extreme with the final solution.
(also compare to left wing conspiracy, "wow Cia did this to south America in the 60's to protect capitalism?" it isn't even conspiracy, it's like open history)
I think Dan Olson's "jar" explanation is a great way to understand conspiracy mindsets like Sovereign Citizens. The specifics of the beliefs don't really matter, and may change at any time; what matters is the overarching concept - "I should be immune to the parts of the law I dislike but also entitled to everything I want".
And anyone I disagree with should be subjected to the fullest extent of the law and even beyond for doing exactly the same thing... don't forget that part. Oh and everybody owes the sovereign citizen who owes nothing and doesn't have to pay for anything!
Much like apes, their collective alternate reality requires that the jar be there, but the parts inside aren't really important. They change reality as befits the parts and selectively ignore whatever doesn't work and take it out, but as long as the jar is there, they'll still believe.
You're right. It is a good framework.
I love Dan Olson's work, but I'm not familiar with this one. I would love to learn more. Could you please point me to which video/essay/article Dan made that talks about this, if you remember?

My favourite part is that they believe there's a huge overarching all powerful conspiracy, and all you have to do to to break free from it is basically say, 'nuh uh!' and the evil shadow government goes, 'ah, damn it, they got us... guess we can't control them anymore'
these are the kinds of mental gymnastics that you _have_ to perform in order to make any of this nonsense even begin to seem to have the appearance of resembling anything approaching logical consistency. i recently saw some conspiracy quacks (can't even remember the specific conspiracy. could have been some syncretic "flat earth" thing, but there was _a lot_ going on besides) arguing that the evidence of the "illuminati" existing is: works of fiction including (fictional) representations of the "illuminati", because… they're obliged by some magical power to "drop hints" about their existence (that the "sheeple" will never notice, of course) in order to maintain their secrecy and control. some people are so far gone, i really wonder if there's _anything_ that could be said or shown to them that might cause them to consider the idea that their fringe beliefs could even _possibly_ be complete horseshit.

I'm working the inside." I can't even begin to repeat his verbiage and do it any justice. He got the guy to accept a ticket, hands it to the guy and tells him three documents to take to court with him. If I remember right the cop ended with. "You have a good day. Power to the people." 1:00:00 I'd just like to point out that if your genes that "control your aging" die, you wouldn't stop aging, you'd age at an accelerated pace because that would mean your body would loose information to replicate its original cells. This is like saying that if your lungs died you'd no longer need to breath.
It is hard to say what to say. Aging is an error that makes the lifetime finite. So to say that genes that govern age, just doesn't govern age, they govern the replication of genes that try to replace deformed cells and not cause cancer.
Acording to my knowlage that aging is a consequence of our body trying to maintain and failing to maintain the body.

That's kind of true about all conspiracy theorists. there is actually some legal precedent for tacit consent in the maxim _"qui tacet consentire videtur"_ (thomas more famously attempted to argue against a charge of treason that he had, in effect, _approved_ of the content of the oath of supremacy despite refusing to verbally acknowledge his assent, by quoting this maxim). the european union (among other bodies) also applies a similar principle in which members are assumed to consent to rulings if they fail to voice any objection by a certain deadline… but this is not so much an acknowledgement of the superior legal power of "silence implies consent", as it is simply a practical concession to a formal means of coming to agreements within _large groups_ (especially when not all may have a common language): it's just easier to say "if nobody objects, it can be assumed we all agree" than to organise a whole lot of representatives, translators, etc. to all be present at once, or to create additional work by forcing everyone involved to sort of "RSVP" every time some minor change is made to a document

Someone I used to work with got completely sucked into the SovCit bs. A lot of the explanations in this video give me flashbacks of conversations we had with him on the job. The 'understand' one really hit home. The worse thing is the community is extremely toxic. You either nod and ask 'only the right questions' or you're immediately bullied/ridiculed out of the community. It's got some kind of cult vibe to it. At least that's the feeling I got when I first encountered this madness some 15 years ago.
After doing some useless investigation on my own. I realized that they really wanted to enshrine certain outdated definitions of words. Like 'driver'. There is some seed of truth in their ramblings, but it's mainly that words evolve over time, and laws adapt to the changing vernacular of the times. IE, not a conspiracy.

In Russia, some people refuse to pay fines or obey road traffic laws because (they claim) they are under Soviet Law, not Federal Russian Law - and thus have no need to follow them.

Are they sure they want to be treated under Soviet law? I mean that could go wrong quickly and badly.

Wow! That is a loaded question, this is going to take some time to unpack. I would need two hours to explain why your proposition doesn't map onto reality save for in the most metaphorical sense.
Yeah true. It's one example of his favourite rhetorical strategy: the motte and bailey. Say something stupid confidently, then spew a word salad at defending a point that's similar but much less stupid. People are, first, stunned into (attentive) silence by your audacity, and then amazed at your incredible ability to defend an argument that they've long since forgotten wasn't your actual claim at the start.
It's just baffling how the right managed to both claim to be anti-government, while also gladly deepthroat the boot of any authority, as long as said authority is hurting people they do not like. I cannot even understand how much my brain would been to be fried for such ability to so little logical thought.
it's that classic conservative premise: there must be in-groups the law protects but does not bind, and out-groups the law binds but does not protect. sovcits take it to its logical conclusion in their belief that if they're part of the in-group, then by definition nothing they do can be bound by law.
They’re all “back the blue” until it’s their rights being violated.
Hum, I'm pretty sure the same could be said for the left as well if you also painted the same types of *really* broad strokes
Truth is, reality is not at easy as "see this side that represents around half of the population? Geez, there is a lot of contradictory ideas there", because by principle, you are bound to find basically everything under the sun in this "half" (discounting the neutral elements here for the sake of simplicity), some people will be indeed inconsistent, but how much of that general impression comes from the fact that you have clumped together both Libertarians, Religious conservatives, Ancap, Natsoc and everything in between ? You could also do the same with the left and see the same type of inconsistency once you clump together social democrats, Leninists and Ancom.
Yes, I don't like the Left/Right classification, how could you tell ?
When conservatives talk about being small government, they mean they want to cut taxes, regulations, and social programs. But they broadly support big government in other ways like having a strict legal system with harsh punishments and spending big on military. Many also want to legislate morality in people’s personal lives by banning things like abortion or gay marriage. So both ideologies support big government, but in different ways.
They've been brainwashed (like all of us growing up in a capitalist system) to where they think corporations and the wealthy are the "good guys" cuz they did the best under the God Blessed capitalist system. So they turn all their ire toward government, not realizing that corporate America and capitalism are really 'the man' that's holding them down.
We need to get these people to realize what really controls their life. Is it the government forcing them to spend their time doing things they don't want or is it capitalism requiring them to work for too little pay at jobs they hate just to squeak by month to month?

The extra fun thing about English local lords being able to just judge stuff ad hoc is that wasn't even standard medieval practice; medieval Wales had fixed penalties for crimes (mostly fines), Charlemagne's empire in very early medieval France had systematic courts where peasants could lodge disputes, and so on. This is indeed part of the plot of the dystopian novel Snow Crash.
Not conspiracy theory, if you where born between 1933 and 1975 an estate was created for 600,000 in us savings bonds. And was insured for 1 million. After that the amounts where raised. They managed these accounts and hypothicated them. On average they grew by 40 percent a year. The sham courts are after these accounts. The police create a cause, the cause creates a case, the case creates a bond that is sold out the back door of the courthouse. All judges and attorneys are bankers, look up their international securities license number. Each case also has a penal sum, that is collected from your trust. When you are indicted, the court files f 273 form with the department of fiscal services, this is a liquidation bond. Remember your estate is held in treasury bonds so they need to be liquidated. When your court date arrives the court files a f274 form with the department of fiscal services, this is a performance bond, informing them you have been found guilty and will need to perform. Next the court files f275 this is a money transfer from your estate to the court. Now it does not end there, the judge gets a bonus, the prosecutor gets a bonus and they share part of it with the defense attorney. Now look at the prison systems, they are also private for profit corporations, just like your county courts. They also collect from your trust, since you are in their care. You can foia all bond through your state tax commissioner and prove it to yourself.

Unironically in the US not talking to police without a lawyer, explicitly not consenting to any searches, and having police confirm that you are being detained is good advice purely because your right to a lawyer and your protection from unreasonable searches, seizures, and detainments are rights that in many cases have to be invoked rather than being assumed. @@colorqueen_6473 no it's not, requiring a drivers license is a constitutional violation. It converts your natural unalienable rights into a privilege. Wake up.
@@colorqueen_6473 the corporations acting as government do not get to tell you what your rights are. You tell them and the courts must side with you and your understanding of the constitution.otherwise they are committing treason.
