I have been with Baselang since August of this year, first in Grammarless, now in Real World. I was assigned an excellent teacher for Grammarless and we are continuing together in Real World. I have been doing 30-minute lessons for conversation practice with other teachers, and that has been valuable in hearing different accents and acquiring additional vocabulary. i definitely recommend the program.
Hi Andrew! It's cool reading your experience. I'd like to know what language you are learning and also how often you have to use English in order to understand each other.
@@CarlosAMC96 I have two teachers in Baselang; one speaks English, the other doesn't. With my English-speaking teacher, we keep the English to the barest minimum but still occasionally need it.
Sorry to bother bro but I'm super curious to try baselang but also I've tried so many programs and haven't learned anything, I guess my question to you would be is this program any different, was the grammarless helpful? And how much has your Spanish improved? Do you just talk in Spanish all class and she explains what you're talking about or do they just teach you phrases all day like the apps do?
@@juneclark7321 Neither. You do learn some idiomatic phrases, but for the most part you are talking as much as possible. This is what makes their program different, and for me, at least, so effective. You can spend all day on a language program memorizing phrases, learning grammar and vocabulary, etc., but that does not prepare you for conversation. What Baselang is doing is starting with conversation out the gate, because when you get down to it, you're going to be out in the world with Spanish speakers, and you're going to have to be able to talk on your own, as much as possible. IT CAN BE DONE! I'm 61 and I'm speaking better Spanish than I ever have.
Brentwood620 hi! I did not start with baselang. I have been studying Spanish for years, and would say I learned the majority of it through the comprehensive input method. I started baselang a week ago and feel I have learned a tremendous amount!

Today is my Day 12 in Baselang (7 "free" days and 5 on the monthly plan) and I have done 90+ classes (at least 45 hours) already. In this time my Spanish has skyrocketed. I actually had proper conversations (albeit with many grammar and vocab holes and me totally using wrong tenses and Spanglish) with 2 different tutors both for 1 hour each in the past 2 days and have had other decent conversations in broken Spanish as well. I did not start from Ground Zero but I do know that I have a looooot to work on but Baselang Real World is an AMAZING resource that I would recommend to the world! PS Your journey, articles and tips are very inspirational. Thank you.
@@robertbetancourt2855 Absolutely not. In fact, I just booked a class at 10pm for 10pm. It is more of a challenge to book "popular" teachers. Unless you make them a favourite, there are quite a few teachers that are always booked.
@@robertbetancourt2855 It is totally worth it! In my 1 week trial I took at least 25 hours of classes. Last month I took almost 90 hours because I had the free time. Best review I have seen about Baselang. It at least seems to be honest and not sponsored. How many teachers are from countries other than Venezuala? If I wanted to learn a particular accent, such as Argentinian/Uruguyan, could I find enough available teachers to make Baselang worth the money?
At one point there were quite a lot of Argentinian teachers. I don't think you can sort by where the teacher is from, so it's hard to know until you speak to them, but maybe you can message the team (there's a little chat box option once you log into your Baselang account) and ask if they can recommend the names of some teachers from Argentina. There are also quite a lot of teachers from Colombia. I've had a few from Mexico, two or three from Ecuador and one from Chile. So they are definitely expanding the pool of teachers available.
What is your honest opinion for grammerless class? I was thinking of going straight to grammerless. Seems like that would be better even though the price seems very high.
Were you able to find teachers from Mexico? So far I have only found from Venezuela, and there a few things that they say dramatically different than what i have heard in Spanish (Mexico).
Hi there Eternal! Would Baselang be a good idea for someone who is absolute beginner? How often is English language use? Or do teachers speak the target language all the time?
how large is the difference in accent between Mexico and Colombia or Venezuela? i mean... even in Mexico alone, the accent varies from one area to the next. Is the accent radically different to the point that it would confuse someone just beginning to learn? I won't be selecting anyone from Spain or Argentina or Peru initially.
The accents of Venezuela and Colombia are some of the most neutral Spanish accents. Living in Mexico City I also felt the accent was quite clear and easy to understand. They are good places to start and then once you have a solid foundation of the language you can start challenging yourself with different accents using podcasts or UA-cam videos as well 🤷♀️

In my opinion, beginner. You want to have at least a little exposure to Spanish (going through the first checkpoint in Duolingo should be enough) to be prepared for the lessons. If you don't even know how to say "hola" or "coma estás" then I wouldn't start with Baselang.
