I subscribed!! 😀 I love your channel. I miss doing the work you do. I can't no more because I got hit by a car and now I'm permanently disabled. I had to close my company here in California because of the injury's I sustained permanently. I been doing concrete for 35 year's short. Thanks for teaching me more about concrete. I wish I could work with you before. Good job my man!.
Thank you for these videos. I’m looking into working with a concrete company in Washington State when I move in late July. I can’t wait to learn the trade.
They did the same thing with the 2-layer concrete process in my area also, not too far from you, in San Diego in the neighborhoods built around the 20's and earlier. Not only the driveways but also the sidewalks and even the curbs. I noticed it about ten years ago and came to the same conclusion in my mind without discussing it with anyone else and I'm glad you confirmed my hypothesis. I'm assuming they did it because it took so much longer to mix back in the day and there were no concrete pumps, everything was done by hand and it was easier to finish the thin overlay rather than the whole depth. Maybe even the only logistical way to do it. It seems weird today but I guess it held up pretty well.
Hi dear I love your videos and I’m about to start my patio this weekend but i don’t know what tipe a drain to get ? I’m no sure is pvc or you just different piping ?
just curious why you didnt go with 2x6 risers ripped down to 5 1/4 inches or 5 inches which would give you 3 equal steps instead of 2 ,,7inch risers and a 2 inch trip step into the house ?
If the owners want to use the side way the can put the outside A/C condenser on an 8' tall stand. Easy to make, I would recommend steel because exposed wood is likely to rot. Speaking of A/C condensation will the water the condenser generates have a direct shot to the drain?
Love your informative videos would you mind breaking down choosing the elevations and your decision making for how you will slope it? I'm in the commercial GC industry and love the vids!
Dave , I am going to do my own concrete steps and backyard patio. I will be doing modular in sections. Here’s my three questions. 1.Should I pour patio up against back of house, then pour steps on a different day over top? 2. Or should I pour steps then patio around it? 3. Should I pour steps and a small pad as a single unit together, then remaining patio. I have a smaller mixer only and my 30 year old son. Is there any concern of water getting into joints? Thanks for help and advice. Dan in Colorado.
Love seeing all those drains. I thought I was the only one that was drain crazy. I hate seeing water sit on concrete. Shit I hate seeing water sit anywhere.
Howdy Odell! Please consider doing a video dedicated to when you used felt or other materials to separate concrete from other objects and why! I'm having a hard time understanding when and why to use separators. It seems like on the city sidewalk video for example you had to do it in case the city ever needed to work on the sidewalk they wouldn't hurt the person's driveway? For example why is it okay to concrete right up to the base of a house. It seems in my mind you would always want to separate concrete larger structures because if the house shifted for any reason it would crack the concrete. Am I right to think this way? Thank you so much! Love your videos!
Hey Dave; I think I just heard you're going to sawcut the pour straight through the drain which sounds like a slot drain to me. You do a lot of those? Just curious as you do a ton of traditional area drains but slot drains look a lot cleaner to me. Just curious
paulsautocm today in Chicago we had below 0 wind chills... I was cutting durock outside. -4° wind chill. Right now it’s 1° feels like -13°... and you think California is chilly.
Don't understand why the owner didn't want to move the AC just a bit so it wasn't blocking the walkway. They could have put it between the new steps and the crawlspace vent.

Yes it has held up along time
Alright, I can’t wait to watch this

Glad to see your son (blue jacket) back in the videos. I don’t know his name, but glad he’s back with us.
MG name is tyler, thank you man :)
He took a semester off.
To get it on

Pollyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Within the lines is good
Thank you so much

I always make the last step smaller. By the time u step over the door threshold it feels like a 6 7 in step
The back yard is small

Yes that sounds good.
You could just weld up some triangle brackets out of angle iron and bolt to structure or something, too.
Just for curiosity. Are the drain lines pitched separately to different parts of the property to drain? Thanks for the videos.
Yes
Thanks. Your videos are great!
Is putting sand bed in the trench before laying pipe not required for housing drainage?🤔
Not with this soil

Everything in residential is based off of exsiting stuff.
Just have to make it work.

Saw cuts hold less water, so less water damage
Looking good brother when’s the pour
Soon

Looks chilly, another fine demonstration of skill and expertise.

Coming along, when you say Day 3 how long is the working day where you are? Hopefully the customer will have you back for the drive
I set goals, when achieved we leave
my ocd just wants to move the ac condenser to the area behind the garage or the roof
Would be nice but exspensive
You don’t glue the pipe & fittings? Together ?asking for a friend
its optional
Very nice

Take care of the spine !!!
In our age, this is important!
for sure
What? Rain in so cal and we haven't had a drop up north this whole month
Bummer you need it to keep the fires down
Why not move the condenser since its already disconnected just extend the line sets so you can use the walkway
they may do that
@@OdellCompleteConcrete would be a smart move at this point. Who are they to block your beautiful work
😎👍

Good question, but I think should have been on the north side of house
Dave, are you ok? I'm sensing something is a little off with you. I hope I'm wrong.
Nah he sounds just fine to my untrained ear.
