Hey Scott I'm 17 and have been playing for a few years now and I've learned more out of your videos than the years, thanks a ton.
-Haidon
Shadows of Motown is one of the most essential
Merry Christmas Scott, to you and your family. Josquin Des Pres was my bass teacher back in the 80's. Most of what I know about playing I learned from him. Cheers!
Scott, I just started watching your channel a few weeks ago, and bought a P-Bass last week, so I really appreciate this vlog. Thanks so much...
"For Whom The Bass Tolls" by Ernest Shedsallday is a great book
I'm a guitar player. First real night with a bass, just today. It was super fun! Your content are very cool man thx!
I recommend 'The Jaco Pastorius Bass Method' by Ray Peterson
THANK YOU SIR. I've been looking for more things to practice.
I forgot about David Liebman. Amazing sax player. Thanks for the list. I'm learning to read sheet music for bass (on bass clef) coming from Bb trumpet (treble). Last sight read music about 15 years ago, so I need to relearn for bass clef.
"The Evolving Bassist" - Rufus Reid
Thanks for the list! Some new ones there, have to check 'em out! :) BUT! Where is Standing in the shadows of motown book?!! ;)
Doh! Yep... that should've been in there. Too many great books, lol! Thanks for coming along and hanging out Jesse... groove on! :)
Effortless mastery by kenny werner is the one you REALLY need!
Great Scott !!! Awesome info Man... Thanks
Scott, what is the song that's played on the intro to this video? It's wonderful! Is it part of the SBS songs? I'm through Level 5 and I don't recognize it (or I just don't remember it), but sounds like a fun tune to learn!
This is it! ua-cam.com/video/Fd-dR7ER2OA/v-deo.html&pp=ygUTc2JsIHR1bmUgZm9yIHN1bmRheQ%3D%3D
I'm surprised there's not the Hal Leonard Bass Method?? Also Ed Frieland. People praise it a lot.
Music Theory for the Bass Player: A Comprehensive and Hands-On Guide to Playing with More Confidence and Freedom - Ariane Cap !!! Does anybody have this book? thoughts?
Serious Electric Bass by Joel DiBartolo and Jaco Pastorius Method Book by Ray Peterson
I definitely have to buy some of these!
And I have a question: did you have a chance to check out Janek Gwizdala's books?
Hey, Scott, thanks for sharing these books! Cheers! ;)
What about Improvisers bass method by chuck sher?
yep, exactly what i thought...
What about it?
Is there an updated list??
Scott...just to confirm - I'm guessing all the material in the Charlie Parker book was originally intended for instruments in B flat?
Yes
No E flat alto!
#15 Hal Crook's "How To Make A Sideways BLT".
what hal leonard book should we buy, the have them in c, b flat, e flat, bass clef ?

Scott, are there any good books for beginners with a 5 string base guitar?
I don’t know if you should be playing a 5 string, you can’t even spell bass
No “Modern Electric Bass Method” by Roger Filiberto? I enjoy the old stuff from that book.

Good review general , but think it miss one slap book in the top 10 ;)
The Evolving Bassist. Rufus Reid.

I recommend Thumb Bassics by Jonas Hellborg
Hey Scott!
Thanks for the video man. I have a quick question, you mentioned Berklee a few times in this video, but at one point you said 'Or it might be the other one'. I'm just wondering which other music college that would be?
Cheers :)
He might've meant University of California, Berkeley
How about one of the best sellers, " Bass Guitar for Dummies "?
Are all those books written in tabs or in notes?
Notes mostly.
bass book for beginners : bass for dummies - patrick pfeiffer
that merry Christmas ear raped me
Lmaoo
The title should be more like Top 15 Books for JAZZ Bass Players
Excuse me but the ''merry christmas'' in the begining is just creepy...
In a cute way :P
I bought a book called the Bass Bible years ago and it was sooo good, but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere in my house :-(
that was by paul westwood, i had the same book, extremely useful for illustrating a broad range of genres
nothing on slapping?
Please go to the point your videos are too long
No they're not. Lots of people like good information, why don't you?
Man, no one talks as much as this guy. Just get to the point. Jesus.
