The problem is the in the power supply...regulators on the power supply board are being overcooked by too much constant load. These can be replaced by a competent tech who can unsolder the SMD parts and solder in parts that are rated for higher current loads. Original parts and rated for 400mA load. Mixer circuits are drawing 350-380mA continuous and the circuit boards will not dissipate enough of the heat to properly allow for extra current draw when all the LEDs are on. The regulators will simply shut down when they get too hot to handle the maximum rated load. If the regulators are replaced with 1 amp units and properly heatsinked they will last for years and years without failing. Repaired a half dozen of these with the same issue...
17 thousand views...yes there is something wrong...had my dsp board replaced a few years ago, now its doing this same thing again...freezing. support now says out of service, cant repair because the parts are no longer made...so now its a useless brick....does this procedure fix anything? my board will sporadically turn on and stay on for hours, sometimes it freezes in 2 minutes...you never know...can risk using it, what a waste...i have found people saying replace the firewire card, replace the voltage regulators, replace the heat sinks...?????....any other solutions to this problem out there?

@@arthussonorizacao9609replace the voltage regulators with better LM7805 voltage regulators, ebay...hard part is finding someone to do it. doesnt look hard but my soldering skill suck. works now for months!! turns out that when i sent it to presonus for repair a few years ago, the DID NOT REPLACE THE DSP BOARD LIKE THEY HAD CLAIMED. they replaced voltage regulators with the very same voltage regulators. lasted about 6 months, then they said its out of service they wont touch it anymore. thanks. so glad - this board would have been in the trash, no usable parts. this is 100% fixable. and a killer board.
