That’s not necessarily correct. It depends on when the aircraft was built. Hughes built the 500D with a T tail before the type was sold to McDonnell-Douglas in 1984.
wrong. if this a was built before 1984, it's a hughes. every single generation up to the F were designed by Hughes.. Las Vegas police still have their 84 model year Hughes 530 F ,tn N5185G serial number 0009FF. MD Helicopters took it over shortly after the first few F models were built . MD only built E and F models.. they never built a single D model. which was the first with the T shaped stabilizer assy.
Thats not accurate, "The V-tail" is a C model, The T-Tail is a D, E or F model dependent on other specs such as engine size, fuselage etc. The change in cockpit nose shape from round to pointed was adopted with the E model and to further confuse the issue many helicopters have been retrofitted with some of these features over the years to upgrade the machine.
