When I was 19 I worked for a fire service with a hughes 500 early model and this really takes me back had a lot of hours in one and really enjoyed flying in it.
I LOVE this footage and I LOVE these Hughes / MD Helicopters, I have a lot of them on my channel, HUGE like as I watched the whole video. I Liked & Subscribed 😎👍
Although apparently impressive the HA-MSI flight was very dangerous . From the odd take off until landing , all has been performed with poor judgement. Many accidents involve a sequence of events. The most frequent first event leading to fatal accidents is loss of control. The next most frequent first event is collision with terrain. Controlled impact with terrain refers to accidents in which the aircraft struck terrain while apparently under the control of the pilot. Such accidents typically occur in conditions of reduced visibility. Collition with object (not wires) includes cases in which an aircraft collided with trees, buildings or other obstructions. Collision with power lines is treated separately under wire strike. The third first event is stupidity...
The H369 series doesn’t have hydraulics so to reduce cyclic control forces the pilot uses an electric trim system operated from the top of the cyclic via the “coolie hat” switch.
Good video, but lots of unsafe maneuvering here. The hover auto practice was great. I used to lots of those. The water bucket was way too short, and dropped to at too high speed. A longer cable allow for a higher hover, but buys a few seconds more to jettison the bucket if something goes wrong. It's not if, but when. Hopefully they were c30 powered.
+Concordski101 I had to look at video again after first seeing 7 months back. The only fire this boys toy would dose is someones out of control barbecue - what a bloody joke.
+jaycee bettelsheim In Australia at moment - now more in Western Australia we have some big fires going on - wiping out hundreds of homes. My point about this helo is it's a great fun chopper for fast commutes I could imagine, but truly a water drop from this size bucket would evaporate in most bushfire whether here or the big forest fires in California. It would be better fitted out with the latest technology with rocket powered water jet units they're fitting on some lighter helo's which can with pinpoint accuracy hit a fire. You have to factor in fuel with amount of successful drops and that's why I think it's totally pointless as a water carrier.
+peter schiller you're special needs so I wont be too hard on you. It is not a good idea for the pilot to learn how to use his equipment well your house is on fire.
Love that start up sound

Love the MD 500 series.
One of the greatest choppers ever created.

My bucket list to learn to fly and own a MD500
Last chopper, rotor brake on a 500? Wish I had one back in the day. Great video.
the ultimate off road vehicle !
i want one!!!
great! Love the short flair practise! Many thanks :)

Nothing like the sound of the turbine firing up! LOVE it
The smell of exhaust too.

UUhhppss!!!!!.Minute 3:00. Embarrassing landing!!!.But what a gorgeous,beautiful Machine!!.
@FoxIII - What is intended? I guess choppers could get damaged with that sort of landings. I think it would be acceptable only in emergency landings.
Anyone know what the empty weight of this HA-MSI?

That was the pilot of HA-MSI wearing flip flops not the police MD.
Check out the ones that has no tail rotor.
What was he doing with his thumb on the top of the stick?? I noticed he flicked that button a couple different times.

@@russella7263 - Question: with Hydraulics is not necessary to trim?
Love the sound of the turbine being lit!
Why do they have shorter maximum range on newer MD500 models?

❤️👍😁
nice filming
Made in America
Judging by this 'estate', the pilot is not hurting -- not to mention his means of transportation...

Love it, but the video jumps around too much.
Great little sports helicopter, but its firefighting capabilities with that small bucket is pointless with the amount of drops and returns required.

Crazy stuff, I've heard, and meanwhile up here in Scotland I cannot recall when I last saw the sun in the sky and all this water!!
Sorry; only saw first line of your post! Yes, your reply shows the situationin context; and I agree. :-)

Ok, who didn't freak out at the speed that idiot was flying when he made that water drop?
