Patterns and trends Conor the fans have every reason to be cautious and worried about what the future will hold. One foot in the door and to have so much faith in the 49ers is also slightly off. Yes they are transparent but they are business men. They will do what’s right for their ROI, like any business owner would do. As you should know.

I trust Paraag to do what is right and best for our club. I think our club is in safe hands with him it is good he is being transparent with us, and keeping us in the loop. I think the RB deal is good financially for us but I can understand fans being wary of RB. We have been bitten to many times in the past. Can't imagine what podcast you could possibly be referring to Connor 😂. I probably sit somewhere between you and them in terms of how i feel about this. I am excited about the investment and the ambition this shows, and I do think we're a different beast to the likes of Salzburg and Leipzig in terms of our clubs identity.
With that said, I don't think Americans really get our football culture, and it's hard to contextualise what a football club is when your entire understanding of what a club and stadium represent is just a brand. I'm not convinced that Red Bull would anticipate the level of pushback they'd get from the Leeds United community if they wanted to rename Elland Road or change the badge.
However, this is the sort of investment we need if we want to see Leeds United be the competitive club we want, and i much prefer this sort of investment to oil money or state ownership like what City and Newcastle have ended up with. And I think Phil Hay had it right when he said the Leeds fanbase is probably the most challenging prospect in world football to go up against for a corporation that wanted to try and wash out their football heritage and culture. I'd be surprised if Red Bull had no knowledge of, for example, what happened with Radrizzani and the badge incident.
So, overall, cautiously optimistic. Looking forward to next season. MOT

Sadly Leeds are not a big club in terms of established in PL, competing at the top end of PL, fighting for European football and a modern large stadium with elite players. Investment is absolutely necessary and has been needed since Ken Bates slid in.
It’s years and years of bad ownership that makes our fan base insecure. I think this lot will be able to support this club and get it back into the premiership. Still have my doubts though about Farke the manager though.
Caution is understandable, but this looks like a good opportunity. Leeds is a strong brand, so it makes commercial sense for RB to buy into the action at this stage.

and what if we don't get out of the championship ? IMHO this is a very smart move by the 9'ers and personally I trust them to do the right thing. I can even grudgingly put up with a bit of red on the shirt if that means getting promotion back to the prem.

I think its absolutely fabulous Red bull coming in as the main Sponsor & a minority shareholder. Whatever they do they make a success of. Im sure the 3 club's that went up would snap our hands off to have a blue chip sponsor that we have. I haven't a problem if in time 1 of the stands becomes Red bull & certainly don't mind part red of their logo. We can't expect them to change it as some don't like Red its not as if the jersey is red . Saying that it could be different often the F1 team don't always have the traditional Red and yellow logo.ive seen all dark blue all Gold logo for when the team have won the constructors etc. I bet only kit with the traditional logo is the home white with Red & yellow and away & 3rd kit totally different.

It has always been a 2 year plan, so I think the 49ers have prepared well for if we don't go up and hopefully with everything that is happening we can win the league next year. We have to get automatic promotion next year and if we don't it's a failure.

Out the three clubs who went down 2 went straight back up. That’s damning. And Daniel Farke should be extremely lucky or fortunate shall I say that he is still in post. The leniency shown by the 49ers shows that they aren’t just knee jerk and are clearly looking more analytical and trajectory based rather than outcomes. 90 points or not being tipped by ipswich town with that squad was a failing of the highest order irrespective of the Shakey start to the campaign. Let’s see if he can redeem himself second season. The championship is unforgiving. Relentless in nature and on any given day can be a humbling experience. Lot to do. Red bull being on the shirt is one thing. Replicating that ambition through football and winning matches is something completely different.
We had unfavorable fixtures dates and dropped at least 10 points as a result of incompetent refereeing decisions. Two stone wall penalties turned down against Sunderland who did nothing but pack out the box. The team was exhausted when it came to breaking down Blackburn. Half the squad came back injured from the internationals.
Yes Farke should have prepared a young squad to be more disciplined in the play off final and Joseph deserved a lot more game time but sacking the manager without a top drawer manager lined up would be nuts.
Teams also dropped the ball against Ipswich right through the season while Leeds were their cup final. If we get off to a good start next year we should be winning the championship next year.

Perhaps, but DF did not have that squad until the end of the transfer window. He then had to integrate them into his team structure and patterns of play. It looked to me that the fact that many of the key players were young and/or in their breakout system was significant. Every time they had the chance to put distance between them and Leicester/Ipswich they bottled it.

Ok, we don’t know what the future holds. The 49ers seem to be the best owners we’ve had in living memory. Yes, they are a business, but that doesn’t mean they’ll sell up if things don’t go perfectly for two years. As Leeds fans we’re used to events not going as we’d like, but I can see some hope ahead of us. There will be plenty of people keen to invest in us right now, why wouldn’t RB want to be amongst them? We need investment to go buy those good players we want to take us up to where we belong. Marathe says we have nothing to fear, they will keep things on an even keel with no naming rights, etc. I believe him. We are in a good place for once and I don’t intend for paranoia to get the better of me. The fact is we are plainly a good bet for investors, quite possibly the best in the country currently, we have solid management in the boardroom and on the playing side. We always knew that it was likely that we’d have to sell some players and get some fresh blood in. If we can get some goal scoring talent through the door we should, as Bielsa did, go up at the second attempt.
This new investment is pure cash for the starting 11. Buy the lot.

Let’s say the next 4-5 years go as planned then maybe they won’t sell but let’s say we don’t manage to get out of the championship would they then sell shop move on make some money from their failure by selling to red bull?

As long as the football club thrives I don’t care. I don’t like their ethics but if an oil state etc took us over and we fulfilled our potential as a club I wouldn’t be complaining. It’s the world of football at the moment, if you don’t invest you get left behind

There’s still PSR and ffp rules. Can’t just go spread 100m when you can’t have financial revenue losses of more than 13m a season. Can only class 30m as investment once every 3 years. Who’s to say 49ers didn’t trigger then already in August to balance to books

We need to get used to this club being run in a professional way. This investment is a necessary step if our goal is to become an established premier league business in the next 3 to 5 years. It can only be positive in light of the constraints the owners have stipulated.
The meltdown hasn't been that bad imo, it's nothing compared to the badge debacle or when radz tried to use the stadium as collateral. Almost everyone I've seen has been excited but rightfully worried about the future.

I really don’t think they can get away with what they’ve done elsewhere. Other clubs they’ve rebranded didn’t have the levels of support, history, football culture etc. Modern football is a pile of corporate shit in many ways but if you accept the premise that you need big money to compete I’ll take fizzy drinks companies over oil states or oligarchs who cosy up with dictators

It’s RedBulls modus operandi that concerns us. We look at every club they are involved in and see a pattern.
To be fair city group have done it with some and not others tend to be bigger more historic groups escaping it.

clearly people miss the stability and prudent management of Risdale, Bates, GFH, Cellino and Radrizzani and are envious of the sound management and beneficial ownership of the likes of the Glaziers or Ashley or ownership by such benevolent and pro diversity institutions like the Saudi or Qatari royal families or indeed those nice Russians.
other than a properly run fan ownership model like Barca or Dortmund, 49ers is a good as we will get. Ok they have not got everything right but they are not far off. I'm old school and more traditional than most most fans but i dont see any issues with Red Bull sponsorship, even minority ownership. Basically we have attracted a lot of floating supporters and hangers on , and many of them are total morons with no analytic capability (i blame the education system) and definitely no idea of how the world works or sense of reality . Ignore them.. just carry on as you are . They need a platform like this to help them "smell the coffee"

I don't think Leeds are as big as we like to think. The club has no major European trophies. Elland Road is a relic of a bygone era and the club has been stuck in the 2nd tier or lower for half their history.
We need to come to terms with being a second tier club as football heritage has shown.
Only a miracle can fix this.
I also think Leeds should bring back the older club emblem from the early 90s as the newest one is a reminder of repeated failure.
Leeds have two major European trophies mate. European Fairs Cup in 1968 and 1971 was an extremely hard competition to win. We had to beat Juventus in the final. Leeds were also robbed against AC Milan and Bayern Munich in 2 European finals in the 70s. Of course Elland Road needs revamping but the potential is there just we've never had proper ownership structure in place. If Aston Villa can do it Leeds can if the 49ers are serious

Back in the Revie days, we had a red away kit. We had white shirts, shorts, and red socks. We need to grow and stop this childish behaviour with regards to wearing red.
