Ok riddle me this. Can you negatively gear a property even if its unoccupied? The answer is yes! It just needs to be advertised! That's what happened to all these holiday houses as well. You just pay for them to be listed for rent but set the price really high so no one will take them and you pay less tax.
This country is fucked. Solely through good fortune I managed to buy recently and will be out of it soon (I'm nearly fucking 50), but I know plenty of people struggling in this market. It's cruel, and fixable. But there is no political will.
You neglected to mention that to qualify for community housing (at least in NSW) you must be employed. So where are the cheap homes for those who cant work?
They should call it barely affordable housing. I live in Vancouver Canada and landlords are renting 200 sq ft studio apartments for over $2000 CDN a month and1 bdrm condos are selling for almost 1 million CDN in the city.
My nextdoor neighbour is getting just over a grand a WEEK for their double garage that they turned into a 'granny flat' (QLD, Australia). There is a 'kitchenette' which is a tiny sink, microwave, bar fridge and 2 burner camping stove thing; there is a cube shelving unit that divides it into a bedroom and well, the rest; luckily it DOES have a bathroom that consists of a toilet, sink and shower and barely any room to move. The world is broken!
Is there a penalty for lying on an NRAS application? (I.e. saying you’re single if you’re not) Or the penalty for moving in a friend who isn’t NRAS eligible to the second bedroom to split the rent with?
watching this from my tent, good stuff mate keep it up!

Thanks for showing the numbers.
30% of income is barely affordable, its literally the upper limit. The whole system is broken
There was a time when Labor was sceptical of the market. I miss that Labor.
That is completely and utterly rooted. Ridiculous.

Unfortunately, you are right, and in a more and more, threatening world and society, your own home is your refuge
My little 2 bed apartment near Footscray is 63% of my income, and the kitchen and carpet near the balcony kinda floods when it rains 🤷🏼♀️
Is this a new build?
@@Nikola-yq9gx nope. I think built in the 70’s
45% is hiden taxes to government not your rent socialist

What a joke. Calling something affordable doesn't make it so when its clearly not. I mean - I can call myself a size 8 supermodel, but.....
#purplepingersforPM

Well that's entirely #*$&ed. Any idea what the incentives are for them listing this under Affordability (cough cough whatever) scheme?
Clovelly is one of the most expensive suburbs in NSW. Try Blaxland.
