You are so right about the recycling being complicated, took me months here in Sardegna to get used to having 4+ bins going not to mention the organic waste 😅 I’m training all of my local cafes on how to make a proper ice coffee in a tall glass with extra ice… definitely a work in progress. Good luck in Italy and on your travels

I bet once they master making ice coffee it’ll taste better than back home 😊

The longer we stay in Naples, the more we love it 😊 can’t wait to share our Lisbon experience. The city is so beautiful and full of life. You definitely have to visit one day

I’m always anxious to travel through Italy due to the constant harassment / racism. Sometimes I won’t book a cheaper ticket bc it stops in Italy.

Omg I’m sorry to hear that. While Italy has its few bad apples, most people are kind and bare minimum will not bother you. You’ll definitely get stared at but I feel like harassment is very very rare

@ssff2544 some POC say it's very friendly and welcoming and some say it's hell on earth... so what's the truth then

@@tanner293 I've heard both sides and honestly I think it depends on where you are and the interaction. For me personally, I've mostly had positive experiences with the locals but I've also had moments where they have not been the most friendly. I think it is important to remember (I've learned this since living in Italy) that not everyone is as friendly and willing to talk to/help strangers as Americans are. I think the American culture (especially if you grow up in parts of the South) is about acknowledging people when you see someone, even if you don't know them, if someone seems lost or needs help, providing a helping hand, not to stare at someone because they may look different, etc. In certain parts of Europe that may not be how the locals operate. It can come off as rude/offensive to us but they may not mean any harm.

A year? Brava, try living in italy for thirty plus, paying taxes, bills and struggling to support a family, put two children through the educational system and complete with the generational wealth of italian collective families... let's start the challenge, now.

I've been curious about the fireworks since moving to Naples. Thank you for clarifying this for me 😊
