- Happy Friday Loves! You know what they say, learn from your mistakes...well I did :) Over the years, I've made some decisions concerning luxury goods that didn't always work out the best. I wanted to share my top 5 and hopefully help you to avoid them, especially if you're recently getting into these goods. I'm not saying that this will happen to everyone, its definitely a case by case scenario, but I just wanted to share my experiences. Thank you so much for watching! Oh MINNIE! I am so GUILTY. I didn't know fabric was bad for stuffing handbags! Several of mine are stuffed with sheets and pillowcases. (Yikes, even my GST & Birkin) I assumed the air pillow plastic might hinder breathing so I tossed it. I'm going through my collection TOOOO-DAY and rectify the situation. BTW...I've followed you a long time and marvel at the excellent choices you've made in your purchases. I'm especially loving your new (pre-loved) Fendi. I'm proud to say that I have FINALLY gained control of my impulses and no longer feel I must add everything I 'love' to my collection. I'm satisfied admiring from afar.....with only a little whimpering & whining. :)
Well caring truly is sharing! I DID NOT KNOW THAT STORING MY luxury goods in their boxes could possibly ruin them! 'Bout to remove them now. As I stated before, you're a wealth of great information. This was a great vid, thanks for sharing! My mom actually had the lining of a mono canvas LV bag from the early 90s completely disintegrate in sections and pockets stick due to storing it in the original box for years. It was very sad because it was a sentimental gift and she thought she was preserving it. Happy you are educating people to avoid this, the sales associates should really mention this at the point of sale.
I’ve always wondered if you store your bags open on the shelves or not! My burning question was finally answered. Props to you for the dedication to take the bags in and out all the time!!
Hi Minnie! Great video. I did a google search and found that the brand Lovin My Bags makes the Odor Out Bag Candies. They are $8.95 and have great reviews. Hope that helps some of your viewers. I recently purchased a pre-loved Speedy and it's beautiful but has a slightly musty smell. I'm going to give these a try.

Just LEARNED the "storage" lesson two weeks ago! Literally! Been neatly storing bags in boxes, with covers, located in cool place, in my house, for years, with no problem! But recent changes in weather here on the East coast (huge increase in rain) unbeknownst to me created moisture problems! When I took out some of my bags that I carry during the spring they were RUIN due to mold contamination! What a gut kick!!! Two weeks later, I'm still crying!!! Again, lesson learned!
Vonni Brown I live in Alabama and we get lots of rain!! See if you can find item called “Damp Rid” store them in your closer to get rid of the moisture

You are absolutely right! The SA’s at LV and Chanel have told me to store bags with towels but I never felt right about that. At the very least, who wants to pick terry cloth lint from the lining of their bag all day lol 😆. But I use the air bags like you. Paper can absolutely cause mold so I tell my friends to never use paper. I have had my Josephine wallet since for about 5 years now and the coin pouch insert I’ve been using steadily since then and definitely the wallet for 2 years straight and both items look brand new! Use the goods and store them exactly how you say and you can have a collection to enjoy for years and decades to come 🤗 Thanks for the video 💋

I have used wood charcoal and put it in the open Ziploc bag and put the charcoal bag into the bag and leave it overnight and all odor or musty smell get removed. Thanks for sharing your video , love your video as always.

This video was very well thought out thank you I learned a lot and I now see that using regular paper may create a mildew situation because paper does absorb water or humidity. Makes so much sense to switch over to air paper also I get so obsessed with the structure I may be overstuffing my bags for storage good point as well have a great weekend
I only JUST learned about the box thing-- now everything is only in the dustbag, on top of the box.

Keep your silica packets that come in your shoes, they absorb moisture. I keep them and throw several in my bags.

I don't know how to use little bags because I need a lot of stuff...And I'm always oversizing the small ones😂 Someone told me that bags "have a life" with you and stains, torns etc is some kind of memory that is beautiful in some ways...

Hi aminnie - yay!!all of my bags be luxury or not are stuffed with the air bubbles I get from my deliveries but I do keep them in their dust bags 😘

Minks4All Dont be, I too live in paranoia that something terrible will happen, I just know if they are covered I won’t use them and rotate them, so I live on the edge of a nervous breakdown 🥺. The crazy is real Minnie!
I loved this video. I have longchamp bags which I store folded up in their dustbags. Is this the best way to store them? I am currently in hospital and binge watching your videos. I’ll be going straight to take my slg and shoes out of boxes....lol!☺️ I also heard not to store them in dust bags. Do they allow enough breathability? For your wallet on chain, you can consider woc savers which help optimize space and protect the base.

The ink from air paper stained my bag so I don't use it anymore unless the inside of the bag is the same colour as the ink.
A piece of charcoal, yes right out of the Kingsford bag, very loosely wrapped in paper towel will remove odors. Place it inside the bag, put the bag in a plastic storage box with a cover and leave untouched for 5 days. I purchased a preloved LV cosmetic case that arrived with an incredibly nasty, moldy odor. I was heartbroken. Tried the charcoal method and it removed the odor completely!! No more preloved for me, but all ended well 😀

Yea I noticed that too the damier ebene red interior dyes damier azur things. But im just mindful that its just material stuff and we buy these things to enjoy it and if it gets a little ruined its okay ..so that thinking helps me :)

I’m not sure how true this is but I’ve read that adding Silica bags to the box when storing will prevent moisture build up. However, I know for sure that it helps with smells 😁

Minnie! You should get a base shaper for your Chanel WOC! It’s a total game changer and only costs about 20 bucks. I did a review video of my WOC and show the shaper I use. I got it from a seller on Etsy and it works great. I highly recommend and you can keep enjoying (and overstuffing) your WOC! 😉

To remove odor or musty smell I have in fact used dryer sheets. I place dryer sheet is in bag for about a week unzipped. Remove sheets and bag has no smell. I think my sheets were unscented! I don’t know why but it worked! Also, I hear baking soda works too

My Favourite UA-camr, hands down! Do you trash all your boxes? They take a lot of space in my house! But I also need lot of shelves for my bags and shoes...because now, my boxes are just being stacked on top of each other...Great video, now im in panic..lol

I recycled all of mine, they are only boxes. Another option is to use them for storage of other items, like hats, gloves, collars, glasses, jewelry, books😳
I got burnt on eBay back in 2007. I thought my coach bag was real. Lol. 😂. It tore up in no time. Needless to say I don’t buy any luxury bags from eBay.

I used Senseo coffee pads to remove a musty smell from a preloved Alma (25 years old). I threw in 3 pads and left them in for the night. Next day the smell was gone and yes, it smelled like coffee for a week, but disappeared. Now I don't smell anything anymore.
Hi Hun can I ask 2 questions please, 1 does it still work out cheaper to buy pre loved and get it checked a couple of times or just buy brand new (as you know I have never bought pre loved as too scared) 2 , with the Chanel wocs how do you stop sweaty hands from ruining the bags if you are holding it and not using a chain (or do you only use it with the chain?) 💖🌸

I definitely made this mistake twice: buying a light colour bag but I wear denim all the time... I used to have a beautiful Damier Azur Totally MM bag and a Prada WOC in red. Both got stained because I wear so much denim.

My little pouch has bubbles too! I never kept it in a box just in a dust bag in a roomy closet... Do you think it is due to the glue to bond the canvas and leather? Now I use it in my neverfall pouch as an coin/cash pouch.

Very informative - my SA always told me to use the chanel tissue paper that is stuffed in the bag when shipped or the chanel tissue paper that is in the box - I have done this in my Chanel bags and so far my bags look great - what do you think? Have you used it? Plus when I store my summer leather bags for the winter I put a little packet of the dry crystals inside the tissue paper. Same when I store my winter bags. I, too store my bags in their dust bags on a self unit in a bedroom.

For my bags lined in alcantara I pull the lining out and spray with a mix of water, white vinegar, and Downy. Spray and gently clean with a clean white cloth. Leave the lining out while drying. The musty odor was completely gone.

I’ve made one big mistake! Back when I was new to luxury I purchased a mulberry bayswater bag from eBay.. it was a bit heavy for me so i sold it. As I soon discovered the bag was not authentic. The new buyer made me aware that I was scammed. It was awful. Not only was I out of the cash that I spent. I had to return the money to my buyer too. So embarrassing! I only buy from known resellers now. Ebay is dangerous!

Hi I purchased a bond st lv in magnolia, wore a black dress and got color transfer, any tips on how to remove it and prevent future color transfer? Also my lv speedy empriente was in a box for one whole year and after watching your video i rushed to go check and saw the front pocket got rllyyyy dry! Can it be salvaged with a leather conditioner? I have few rules about my bags . One is I never keep in boxes only dustbags .Louis Vuitton specified I should never keep their bags in boxes ,for couple of reasons .One is to let it breathe but secondly they use a chemical in their boxes which interact with the bags .Infact they sent me an email as well .
Secondly I stuff the bags either with butter paper or I make my own pillows .I take a large pillow ,open it and stuff the stuffing according to the required size in a fine cotton cloth ,tie it and stuff in the bags .
Last ,Minks ,I think you should either put a woc saver for your woc at the bottom or otherwise take a stiff cardboard ,cut to the size of the bottom length and breadth and line the bottom of the woc to open it up and not wrinkle .I have done it myself for both my woc .Thar way you get a lot of space plus the leather will not cause wrinkling .
I recently saw the Totally MM damier Ebene (wich is discontinued )and i Fell deeply in love. What’s your opinion on that bag? Thanks a lot ❤️❤️
I learned my lesson by storing my pouchette in dust bag in box and the vachetta leather strap cracked. I was bummed and could buy a new strap but decided to use it as my cosmetic bag with out the strap. I would NEVER buy luxury off ebay. If I'm not purchasing from boutique or high end store then Fashionphile is only one i trust.

Congratulations on your purchase. I bought a Keepall 45 Bandouliere in the Damier pattern (black leather) a few years ago. I still use those air pillows that it originally came with, so the bag can keep its shape. 🙂

I have a double GG Marmont Gucci belt, I keep it stored in the dust bag inside the box it came in. Should I keep doing this or take it out of the box and leave it in the dust bag on my shelve?!
I have two of them and also store them the same. I wear mine on a regular basis and haven’t had any issues. I also have a Prada saffiano leather smaller bag that I rarely wear and has been in the box for seven years, zero issues. It looks brand new.
