I fully agree with MrCoolTre, Tre' plays Makeout Party in the studio much differently to how he did at this concert. He varies so much of his fills, they're not simple and they're not the same. If you haven't already, watch TreCool30's drum cover of Makeout Party, it's amazing and Tre plays it amazingly. And, by the way, Tre had drum lessons in Cuba after 21st Century Breakdown, which, I'm sure, is better than drum lessons from Dave Grohl.
Do you hear those snare bass beats in the choruses and solos? I sat there and wrote them out today. He does it SIXTEEN different ways. It's amazing how he varies the same thing that many times. I have no idea why you're saying "he could have done more" on this song. Maybe others, but he is insane on this song. One of his best. Not sure where the "one trick pony" comment came from as he has never, ever done anything like this song.
personally, i think this sounds better than the recorded version. it sounds more raw and faster-paced live, which is proof that even some of their "filler" songs on these albums need to be heard live before a true critique can be made
I love the fact that this song is a noisy one, but still they don't lose the rythm. What I mean is that even though this is a somewhat heavy song it is not an annoying one.
green day is my favorite band, but don't diss dave grohl. the man is a fucking legend, and probably is a better drummer than tre cool. although i can't say that for sure, but don't try to belittle a man who's truly important, influential, and flat out fucking awesome and important to rock n roll. he's just as important as green day if you ask me, drumming for nirvana, forming foo fighters, and playing in a band with john paul jones (bassist of led zeppelin, in the band "them crooked vultures")
Wow I didn't know people were still talking about my comment... My point was just that Dave Grohl is better at this kind of music but I wasn't in any way putting Tre down. He is a great drummer and very important to green day. And the drumming in this song for sure is not bad at all. It is pretty good. I do however still believe Tre sounds the best on the older albums. He is not just a one trick pony like I said before he has studied lots of genres and is even proficient in even jazz music.
I never meant to put down Dave, I was just saying that being taught drums by professional percussionists in Cuba would be a better learning experience than with Dave. We have to face it; it's true. I have nothing against Dave at all, I'm just stating what would most likely be a fact. I'm sure I'd rather be taught by the Cubans as opposed to Dave, and I love Dave. Also, if anything, I'm just defending Tre against Jacob Cornwell.
Sure the drums sound good because it is a good song, but he could have done so much more. What are you like 15 years old that you have to go online and shout insults at people? I mean just really. I said it was a good song. I am not an idiot, your an idiot for not just getting along with someone who likes the same band that you do. I mean c'mon I should be able to voice my own opinion and make a critique about drummer and a band I love without getting yelled at by a fan of the same band.
I love this song but wow it really shows that tre is not a true rock n roll drummer. Guess he is a one trick pony with Dookie type songs. Should get a drum lesson fro Dave Grohl.
Underrated as hell song. Wish they performed it again
Same
Reckon this has to be one of the best tracks they've released so far in the trilogy
I absolutely love what Billie says between 2:40, starting with that tiny "eh-oh" and 3:36, right after a fan screams "Green Day" :)
And THIS is why he had to go to rehab
Ummm dude, this song was why?
Green day is the very best band in all history
Male, 13-17 years
Male, 18-24 years
Female, 13-17 years
Glad to see young people still like this band

The first couple of seconds of this song, especially when Tre comes in with the drums, remind me of 1969 by the Stooges.

95% chance he was!
Yeah Tre is more a punk drummer than a Grunge / Heavy drummer like Dave Grohl, they both are still epic.
2:30 lol
dat lighting effects.
weezer is all i can think
It's a nice song, it's weird how poser girls haven't post idiot comments about billie's moaning lol my girlfriend will go insane when she watches this

@Altri82 I didn't say he wasn't a good drummer. He just isn't the best.

Poor Billie Joe he doesn’t look good :(
